  • This study was conducted to improve the shooting stability of self propelled artillery by improving the flick rammer system. The flick rammer system is designed to reduce crew fatigue and shorten the movement and loading time of the shell compared with the conventional manual loading system. Basically, in the flick rammer system of the shooting type, fall-back occurs intermittently, which causes problems in the rapid loading. To solve this problem, a detailed C.A.E. (Computer Aided Engineering) analysis of the internal structure of the existing rapid loading field was conducted. Through this, we sought a solution that can prevent fall-back by reducing the flying distance. We then optimized the loading station to reduce the flying distance and confirmed the possibility of suppressing the fall-back compared to the existing product through actual tests in the field.

  • The property of deep frying oil is one of die important factors in fried food quality. The purpose of this study is to identify die quality of deep frying oil in continuous usages for 4 days by two types of fryers: traditional and modified fryers. After frying polk cutlets, die flying oil was kept not only for several physical analyses such as color, viscosity, and water content but also for quality analyses of flying oil such as free fatty acid, double bond changes and oxidative rancidity formation. The fried oil by a traditional flyer was significantly increased in die physical values of color and viscosity than that by a modified fryer. In die acid value, the fried oil by a traditional fryer was significantly increased in free fatty acid than that by a modified fryer while die iodine value was significantly decreased in die fried oil by a traditional fryer when compared to control oil and fried oil by a modified fryer. In die peroxide value as an indicator of primary oxidation products, die fried oil by both fryers was significantly increased till die second day but decreased in die value after die third day because of unstable hydroperoxides' decomposition. In die p-anicidine value as an indicator of secondary oxidation products, die fried oil in a traditional fryer was significantly increased in die value than that in a modified fry.

  • The Fly-By-Wire(FBW) flight control system is essential to improve the stability and flying quality of the helicopter. Advanced aerospace companies, such as Bell-Sikorsky (USA) and NHI (European Consortium), have already applied the FBW flight control system to manufacture V-22 and NH-90 helicopters, respectively. This paper addresses the development of control law design using model inversion method improve the hover and low speed handling qualities of helicopter based on BO-105 model in 'Day' and 'Degraded visual environments(DVEs)' in accordance with ADS-33E-PRF. Design parameters are optimized to satisfy the handling qualities specification using Control Designer's Unified Interface (CONDUIT) commercial control law software. The result of the analysis based on CONDUIT and non-real time simulation in-house software, HETLAS (HElicopter Trim Linearization And Simulation) reveals that the provides an efficient mean to achieve Level 1 handling qualities.

  • Monitoring techniques for afro-ecological environments were studied, Hydrologic and ecological components in conjunction with water quality were monitored in the Balkan watershed. The hydrologic monitoring program consists of four water level gauging stations along creeks and stream at the watershed having 26.5 km2. Stage - storage relationship of reservoir, rainfall amount of the watershed, and rating curve of the stream gauging stations were established. Soil type, land use, hydrologic soil group, population and economic activities within the watershed were surveyed. Water quality data from the streams were sampled weekly and chemical analysis was conducted. Temporal variations of water quality were investigated and water quality map of each reach of stream was made to identify spatial variations. Seasonal and spatial variations of vegetation densities along stream in the watershed were investigated using grid, Density variations of insect species such as arthropod, flying insect, spider spices, rice insects were also monitored to determine seansonal surveying density. These monitored data will be used to develop monitoring techi%ues and afro - ecological environment models.

  • The provided habitat of many services from natural capital is important. But because most ecosystem services tools qualitatively evaluated biodiversity or habitat quality, this study quantitatively analyzed those aspects using the species distribution model (MaxEnt). This study used location point data of the goat(Naemorhedus caudatus), marten(Martes flavigula), leopard cat(Prionailurus bengalensis), flying squirrel(Pteromys volans aluco) and otter(Lutra lutra) from the 3rd National Ecosystem Survey. Input data utilized DEM, landcover classification maps, Forest-types map and digital topographic maps. This study generated the MaxEnt model, randomly setting 70% of the presences as training data, with the remaining 30% used as test data, and ran five cross-validated replicates for each model. The threshold indicating maximum training sensitivity plus specificity was considered as a more robust approach, so this study used it to conduct the distribution into presence(1)-absence(0) predictions and totalled up a value of 5 times for uncertainty reduction. The test data's ROC curve of endangered mammals was as follows: growing down goat(0.896), otter(0.857), flying squirrel(0.738), marten(0.725), and leopard cat(0.629). This study was divided into two groups based on habitat: the first group consisted of the goat, marten, leopard cat and flying squirrel in the forest; and the second group consisted of the otter in the river. More than 60 percent of endangered mammals' distribution probability were 56.9% in the forest and 12.7% in the river. A future study is needed to conduct other species' distribution modeling exclusive of mammals and to develop a collection method of field survey data.

  • One of the most exciting areas for the development of alternative fuels is the production of biodiesel. To reduce the cost of biodiesel production, in situ trans-esterification has been introduced to simplify the production process by enabling extraction and trans-esterification to occur at a single stage in the presence of a catalyst. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of using non-corrosive and environmentally receptive flying jet plasma as an alternative catalytic route for in situ tran-sesterification of castor bean seeds (CBS). Upon optimizing the reaction conditions, it is elucidated that applying a low ratio of methanol to seeds (≤6:1) has resulted in hindering the in situ trans-esterification and leading to insignificant conversion. The yield of esters has increased from 80.5% to 91.7% as the molar ratio rose from 9:1 to 12:1. Excess alcohol beyond the ratio of 15:1 was shown to have a negative impact on the yield of the produced esters, attributed to an increase in the biodiesel portion prone to dissolving in the co-product (glycerol). An increase in the reaction bulk temperature from 40 to 55 ℃ led to a higher ester content by 50%. Further increases in the bulk temperature beyond 55 ℃ did not affect yields. Regarding the reaction period, the results have shown that 3 h of reaction is adequate for a higher biodiesel yield. The quality of the biodiesel obtained has demonstrated that all physicochemical properties meet the ASTM D6751 specifications.

  • Flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs) is a vibrant research area nowadays. This type of network ranges from various military and civilian applications. FANET is formed by micro and macro UAVs. Among many other problems, there are two main issues in FANET. Limited energy and high mobility of FANET nodes effect the flight time and routing directly. Clustering is a remedy to handle these types of problems. In this paper, an efficient clustering technique is proposed to handle routing and energy problems. Transmission range of FANET nodes is dynamically tuned accordingly as per their operational requirement. By optimizing the transmission range packet loss ratio (PLR) is minimized and link quality is improved which leads towards reduced energy consumption. To elect optimal cluster heads (CHs) based on their fitness we use k-means. Selection of optimal CHs reduce the routing overhead and improves energy consumption. Our proposed scheme outclasses the existing state-of-the-art techniques, ACO based CACONET and PSO based CLPSO, in terms of energy consumption and cluster building time.

  • This paper describes efficient flight control algorithms for building a reconfigurable ad-hoc wireless sensor networks between nodes on the ground and airborne nodes mounted on autonomous vehicles to increase the operational range of an aerial robot or the communication connectivity. Two autonomous flight control algorithms based on adaptive gradient climbing approach are developed to steer the aerial vehicles to reach optimal locations for the maximum communication throughputs in the airborne sensor networks. The first autonomous vehicle control algorithm is presented for seeking the source of a scalar signal by directly using the extremum-seeking based forward surge control approach with no position information of the aerial vehicle. The second flight control algorithm is developed with the angular rate command by integrating an adaptive gradient climbing technique which uses an on-line gradient estimator to identify the derivative of a performance cost function. They incorporate the network performance into the feedback path to mitigate interference and noise. A communication propagation model is used to predict the link quality of the communication connectivity between distributed nodes. Simulation study is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed reconfigurable airborne wireless networking control algorithms.
