환경에 따른 MZT/LZT 디스크의 tribological 특성 (Tribological Behavior of MZ/LZT disk under Various Environmental Conditions)

  • As the flying height decreased, it is essential that hard disk drives perform reliable under various environmental conditions. In this paper the tribological characteristics of a head/disk interface are investigated under various temperature, relative humidity, altitude and outgas conditions. Specially, Contact-Start-Stop(CSS) tests were performed to assess the stiction, acoustic emission, slider take-off behavior, and track average amplitude(TAA). It is shown that the surface damage and head failure are accelerated by high temperature and humidity as well as low ambient pressure.

  • 본 연구에서는 다수 무인기의 군집비행을 위한 행위기반 분산형 제어기법을 제안한다. 각 무인기는 특정한 영역으로 비행해야하는 고유의 임무와 동시에 무인기 간의 거리를 유지해야하는 요구조건도 가지고 있다. 이러한 두 가지 요구조건은 서로 상충된다. 제어기를 설계하기 위하여 각 무인기가 통신채널을 통하여 상태변수를 교환할 수 있다는 가정 하에 결합형 동역학을 적용하였다. 군집비행의 성능을 개선하기 위하여 제어이득 행렬의 최적화를 수행하였다. 제어기의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 다수 무인기의 경로점 통과 임무를 위한 수치 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

  • Hard disk drive(HDD) consists of a head/slider system which flies over the magnetic disk at an extremely low height. As the density of HDD increases the flying height of the head needs to be decreased. This increases the chance for contact between the slider and the disk. This paper addresses some key issues related to surface failure characteristics of HDD. It is shown that flying behavior of the slider during contact-start-stop cycle can be analyzed based on different regimes of air film lubrication, experimental methods for identifying the underlying mechanisms and improving the reliability of HDD are discussed.

Male-Silkmoth-Inspired Routing Algorithm for Large-Scale Wireless Mesh Networks

  • This paper proposes an insect behavior-inspired routing algorithm for large-scale wireless mesh networks. The proposed algorithm is adapted from the behavior of an insect called Bombyx mori, a male silkmoth. Its unique behavior is its flying technique to find the source of pheromones. The algorithm consists of two steps: the shortest-path algorithm and the zigzag-path algorithm. First, the shortest-path algorithm is employed to transmit data. After half of the total hops, the zigzag-path algorithm, which is based on the movement of the male B. mori, is applied. In order to adapt the biological behavior to large-scale wireless mesh networks, we use a mesh topology for implementing the algorithm. Simulation results show that the total energy used and the decision time for routing of the proposed algorithm are improved under certain conditions.

발광다이오드 빛에 대한 살오징어의 행동 특성 (Behavioral characteristic of Japanese flying squid, Todarodes pacificus to LED light)

  • Squid jigging fishery is very important in that there are about 1,000 jigging vessels more than 10 tonnage and about 5,000 ones less than 10 tonnage in Korea. But the cost of oil which is used to light fishing lamps, goes significantly up to almost one hundred million won for 50 tonnage vessels and forty million won in case of vessels less than 10 tonnage. This cost has almost taken 40% of total fishing costs. That is, the fishing business condition of squid jigging fishery is recently in the very difficult situation. As oil price increases, the business condition of the fishery gets worse and worse. Therefore it is very urgent to develop an economical fishing lamp, to solve this problem of fishery's business difficulty. This research aims at developing a fishing lamp for squid jigging fishery using the light emitting diode which has very excellent efficiency and durability. We made a water tank with 20 meters width which is a shape of raceway to research behavioral characteristics of Japanese flying squid to LED light, and made an experiment to investigate optimum wave of LED light to lure squid. The method is to establish LED lamps on both ends of water tank and to observe squid's behavior. Colors and wave lengths of LED lamps, used in experiment, are red(634nm), yellow(596nm), green(523nm), blue(454nm) and white(454nm+560nm). In experiment for attractive capability of LED lamp to squids, Japanese flying squid are highly attracted to blue lamp and white lamp. However, they are dispersed to red and yellow lamps. In addition, Japanese flying squid have moved and stayed in both dark ends of water tank. When compared intermittent lamp with continuous lamp, Japanese flying squid are highly attracted to intermittent lamp when intermittent interval is 0.25 second.

드론비행과 사생활침해 등 법률위반 위험성 연구 (Drones flying and violations of privacy laws, such as riskon)

  • 최근 드론에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 이를 활용하는 분야도 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 향후 드론시장은 크게 향상될 것으로 기대되며, 활용 또한 점점 더 높아지게 될 것이다. 하지만 그에 따른 부작용 역시 적지 않다. 드론을 보다 안전하고 보편적으로 이용하기 위해서는 안전과 사생활보호 등 고려해야 할 문제도 많다. 본 연구는 드론비행으로 인한 사생활침해 등 법률위반 관계를 검토하고, 이를 해결하기 위반 방안을 연구하였다. 드론비행으로 인한 인간의 삶과 행동에 평안함과 즐거움을 제공하고 있지만 이로 인한 문제점도 새롭게 발생하고 있다. 때문에 드론비행으로 인한 역기능을 줄이는 대책도 반드시 필요하다.

드론의 삼각 편대비행에서 포메이션 유지 및 충돌 방지 제어를 위한 연구 (A Study for Drone to Keep a Formation and Prevent Collisions in Case of Formation Flying)

  • 본 논문에서는 드론의 삼각 편대비행에서 정해진 삼각형 포메이션을 유지하고 서로간의 충돌을 사전에 방지할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 기존 연구에서는 카메라로 입력된 빛을 이용하거나 영상을 처리해야만 드론의 충돌을 제어할 수 있었다. 그러나 빛이 없고 어두운 지역에서 드론이 영상을 처리하고 서로의 위치를 확인하는 것은 어려울 뿐만 아니라 서로의 존재를 확인하지 못하여 충돌하게 될 수도 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 ALPS(Ad hoc network Localized Positioning System) 알고리즘을 통해 구한 세 드론과의 거리와 상대좌표를 이용하여 서로 간의 충돌을 막아주는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 드론의 포메이션 삼각형의 중심과 측정된 각각의 드론의 좌표와의 거리를 정해진 일정한 값으로 유지하도록 한다. 따라서 정해진 포메이션 형태가 흐트러질 경우에는, 각 드론과 중심좌표의 거리를 일정하게 유지하도록 드론의 위치를 재설정한다. 모의실험의 결과 제안된 알고리즘이 적용된 시스템을 사용할 경우, 드론의 충돌을 사전에 방지함으로서 충돌로 인한 고장이나 사고를 막을 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.

The MPI CyberMotion Simulator: A Novel Research Platform to Investigate Human Control Behavior

  • The MPI CyberMotion Simulator provides a unique motion platform, as it features an anthropomorphic robot with a large workspace, combined with an actuated cabin and a linear track for lateral movement. This paper introduces the simulator as a tool for studying human perception, and compares its characteristics to conventional Stewart platforms. Furthermore, an experimental evaluation is presented in which multimodal human control behavior is studied by identifying the visual and vestibular responses of participants in a roll-lateral helicopter hover task. The results show that the simulator motion allows participants to increase tracking performance by changing their control strategy, shifting from reliance on visual error perception to reliance on simulator motion cues. The MPI CyberMotion Simulator has proven to be a state-of-the-art motion simulator for psychophysical research to study humans with various experimental paradigms, ranging from passive perception experiments to active control tasks, such as driving a car or flying a helicopter.

대기압 저감에 따른 헤드/디스크 인터페이스의 트라이볼로지 특성 분석 (Effect of Reduced Ambient Pressure on the Tribological Behavior of Head/Disk Interface)

  • Optimum tribological performance of the head/disk system is critical in maintaining reliable data processing in a hard disk drive. Particularly, as the flying height of the slider continues to decrease with increasing recording density, frictional interaction between the slider and the disk need to be better understood. In this work the effect of reduced ambient pressure on the tribological behavior of the head/disk interface is presented. It is found that surface damage of the components can be accelerated by reducing the ambient pressure. This method may be utilized to assess slider/disk compatibility of newly developed systems in short time.
