경포도립공원 일대의 관속식물상 (Flora of Kyongpo Provincial Park Area)

  • 본 조사는 1997년 6월부터 1998년 6월까지 4회에 걸쳐 조사된 경포대 일대의 관속식물 종조성과 우점종군을 분석한 결과이다. 그 결과 본 지역에서 조사된 관속식물은 87과 240속 281종 51변종 7품종으로 총 339종류가 조사되었으며, 이중 노랑갈퀴, 오동나무(재), 개쑥부쟁이 등 3종은 한국특산종이다. 양치식물계수는 0.61로 나타났으며 귀화식물은 12종류로 이는 우리나라 귀화식물 218종류의 5.5%에 해당한다. 우점종은 해송과 소나무로 대표되었으며 교목층과 아교목층은 소나무와 해송, 관목층은 해송, 소나무, 산벗나무, 초본층은 큰기름 새, 김의털, 장구채, 쑥, 애기수영, 닭의장풀, 털질경이 등이 우점하였고, 전체적으로는 아교목층과 관목층이 매우 빈약한 불안정한 임상구조를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.

한라산 구상나무림의 식물사회학적 식생단위의 재검토 (Review of Phytosociological Vegetation Units of Abies koreana Forest on Mt. Halla)

  • The character and differential species of Abies koreana community, a subalpine coniferous forest, on Mt. Hall a and its vegetation unit were reviewed, based on literature published up to date. Song and Nakanish (1985a) originally described Saso-Abietetum koreanae Song et Nakanishi 1985 for the community. At that time, we were fully justified in establishing the nomenclature. Nevertheless, against this nomenclature, Yim and Kim (1990) made a objection, and it was renamed as what is called Saso quelpaertensi-Abietetum koreanae (Song et Nakanishi) corr. Yim et Kim 1990. In their previous study(Yim et al., 1990) being the root of the nomenclature, however, they did not study on the full layers containing the moss layer of bryophyte and lichen for the stratification of the Abies koreana community, in spite of the importance of the species of moss layer for the selection of character and differential species of vegetation units belonging to Vaccinio-Piceetea Br.-Bl. 1939, and also the floristic composition from their study was not compared with that of the vegetation units of the subalpine coniferous forests in Korea Peninsula, Japan, Maritime Province of Siberia and Northeast China. Among the four character species selected by them, it is clear that Maianthemum bifolim and Lonicera maackii are species no having the characteristic value from the phytosociological viewpoint. Besides, Sasa quelpaerthensis described in their nomenclature is a synonym of S. palmata (Suzuki, 1978). Therefore, their nomenclature is invalid and comes under a contravention (Infringement of Priority) to the Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature (Barkman et al., 1986). Saso-Abietetum koreanae was amply justified also by author's recent study (Song, 1991)examined throughout the range of subalpine coniferous forest in Korea. With the discussion of justification of Saso-Abietetum koreanae, a association discussion was brought in the present review.

구룡산의 산림군집구조와 환경요인의 상관관계 (Correlation Analysis between Forest Community Structure and Environment Factor in Mt. Guryong, Gyeongsangbuk-Do Province)

  • 본 연구는 경상북도 봉화군 구룡산 일대의 산림식생을 대상으로 2010년 7월부터 2010년 8월까지 72개의 방형구를 설치하여 Z-M 식물사회학적 방법으로 식생구조의 유형분류를 실시하였다. 최상위 단계에서 신갈나무군락군이 분류되었고, 군락단위에서는 금강소나무군락, 고로쇠나무군락, 신갈나무전형군락이 구분되었으며, 인공식재림은 일본잎갈나무군락, 잣나무군락으로 분류되었다. 금강소나무군락은 군단위에서 굴참나무군과 금강소나무전형군으로 세분되었으며, 고로쇠나무군락은 개벚지나무군과 물참대군의 2개 군으로 세분되어 총 7개의 식생단위로 분류되었다. 그리고 분류된 식생단위와 해발고와 지형의 환경요인이 상관관계가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 층위별 상대우점치를 분석한 결과, 금강소나무군락(식생단위 1, 2)을 유지하기 위해서는 각 층위에 우점치가 높은 신갈나무, 굴참나무 등의 참나무류에 대한 지속적인 숲가꾸기가 필요할 것으로 사료되었다.

서천갯벌 습지보호지역의 염생식물상과 식생 (Halophytes and Vegetation of Seocheon Tidal Flat Wetland Conservation Area)

  • The purpose of this study is to present the raw data for management and conservation of tidal flat by objective surveying and analysing the halophytes and vegetation distributed in Seocheon tidal flat wetland conservation area, Korea. The results are as follows. The numbers of halophytes in this site were summarized as 27 taxa including 13 families, 21 genera, 26 species and 1 variety. In the results of ecologically important species, rare plant was 1 taxa, 10 taxa of the specific plants by floristic region, 1 taxa of naturalized plant and 1 taxa of the plant with approval for delivering oversea. The life form spectrum consisted of therophytes(44.4%), hemicryptophytes(25.9%), geophytes(14.8%), nanophanerophytes(7.5%), chamaephytes and hydatophytes(each 3.7%). The types of vegetation of Seocheon tidal flat wetland conservation area were classified with 17 communities including Vitex rotundifolia community, Suaeda maritima community, Calystegia soldanella community and so forth. In the halophytes composition, section C and E-1 had the largest character species and companion species. In the results of vegetation amount, section C, D, E-1 and E-2 were the highest score, on the other hand, section A and B were the lowest. The final rating was calculated by adding up values of two factors, and section C and E-1 had the highest rating of II. In future, we will survey the whole flora in Seocheon tidal flat, we will offer the help to establishing the conservation plan of coastal plant ecosystem in West Sea.

SOIL ORGANIC CARBON APPRAISAL IN A SEMI-EVERGREEN FOREST, EASTERN GHATS OF INDIA AS A RESULT OF DEGRADATION - A GEOSPATIAL STUDY

  • Tropical forests have variety of biodiversity values, which provide invaluable services to the living being on earth. In the recent years, tropical forests are regarded as valuable global resources that act as sink for carbon dioxide in order to mitigate global climatic change. In many parts of the world, tropical forests are being rapidly cleared by various means. Soil organic carbon (SOC) is concentrated in the upper 12 inches of the soil. So it is readily depleted owing to the degradation activities. In the present study, it was aimed to assess the magnitude of disturbance in the availability of SOC in a semi- evergreen forest, situated in the Eastern Ghats of Tamil Nadu, India. The forest density of this region was mapped with QuickBird satellite data. Intensive field soil sampling and floristic study were conducted to estimate the SOC status in different density classes and to identify the species availability. The SOC density ranged from 274.06 t/ha to 147.84 t/ha in the very dense and degraded semi-evergreen forest respectively. The SOC content was also varied from 3.70 to 1.83 % in the very dense semi-evergreen and medium semi-evergreen forests respectively. The species composition in different density classes was also varied considerably. As a result of this study, it was identified that the disturbance to forests by various means not only affect the density of forests but also affect the below ground SOC status proportionately.

낙동강변(洛東江邊)의 잡초식생(雜草植生)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Floristic Composition and Community Dynamics Along the Nakdong River)

  • 1989년(年)9월(月) 낙농강유역(洛東江流域) 38지점(地點)에서 총(總) 29과(科) 102종(種)의 잡초(雜草)가 조사(調査)되었다. 그 가운데 일년생(一年生) 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 54%, 다년생(多年生) 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 21%로 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 전체(全體)의 72%를 점유(占有)하였다. 2차원적(次元的) 분류방법(分類方法)으로 환삼덩쿨(Humulus japonicum)군락(群落), 여뀌(Persicaria hydropiper)군락(群落), 고마리(Persicaria thunbergii)군락(群落), 사철쑥(Artemisia capillaris)군락(群落), 개여뀌 - 강아지풀 - 바랭이(Persicaria blumei - Setaria viridis - Digitaria sanguinalis)군락(群落), 갈대(Phragmites communis)군락(群落)이 조사(調査)되었다. 가장 큰 군락(群落)은 갈대 군락(群落)이었고, 총(總) 38 조사지점중(調査地點中) 15지점(地點)에서 갈대가 발생(發生)되었고 고마리, 환삼덩쿨, 개여뀌 등(等)의 잡초(雜草)들이 우점발생(優點發生)하였다.

중국측 백두산 청석봉 서쪽사면 고산초원의 식물상 (Vegetation of Alpine Grassland at West Slope of Cheungseuk-bong on Mt. Paektu in China)

  • 중국측 백두산의 청석봉 서쪽사면에 발달한 고산초원(고산툰드라)의 식생을 표고에 따라 조사하였다. 고산초원에서 자생하는 식물은 30종, 2아종, 3변종이었다. 표고 1,800m에서 2,l00m 사이에는 총 25종의 식물이 출현하였으며 화살곰취, 박새, 꿩의 다리의 피도계급이 높았다. 2,l00m에서 2,l00m 사이에서는 총 29종의 식물이 출현하였으며 들쭉나무와 노랑만병초가, 2,l00m에서 2,600m까지는 총 21종의 식물이 출현하였으며 노랑만병초의 피도계급이 가장 높았다. 본 조사지역에서 자생하는 식물의 생활형은 총 35종 중에서 지표식물 7종, 반지중식물 27종, 지중식물 1종이었다. 개화한 식물은 총 19종이며 화살곰취, 박새, 꿩의 다리, 금매화, 애기금매화, 개감채는 개화절정기였다.

강원도의 약용식물 분포에 관한 연구 (Distribution Survey on Medicinal Plants in Kangwon Province)

  • 강원도를 대표할 수 있는 설악산, 점봉산, 오대산, 화악산, 태백산 및 방태산 등 6개 지역을 중심으로 1995년 12월부터 1997년 11우러까지 각 지역에 자생하고 있는 식물을 채집, 동정하여 식물상을 밝히고 이들 중, 약용으로 사용되고 있는 분류군을 선별하여 목록을 작성하였다. 본 조사지역에 자생하는 양치식물 이상의 관속식물은 118과 529속 1,138종 7아종 223변종 43품종으로, 총 1,411종류가 분포하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이곳에 자생하는 관속식물은 우리나라 전체 4,071종류(이, 1996b)의 34.7%에 상당하며 강원도에 분포하는 관속식물 1,913종류(강원도, 1996)의 73.8%에 해당한다. 이 중, 약용식물자원은 98과 238속 337종 63변종 16품종으로, 총 416종류가 분포하며 조사지역에 자생하는 관속식물의 29.5%에 상당한다. 지역별로는 종다양성이 높을수록많은 수의 약용자원이 분포하는 것으로 나타나고, 그 범위는 211종류에서 285종류까지 분포하며 조사지역 관속식물의 31.4%에서 33.3%까지의 비율로 나타났다.

팔공산에서 식생과 토양에 미치는 산불의 영향 (Effects of fire on Vegetation and Soil nutrients in Mt. palgong)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the developmental process of plant community during the secondary succession and changes of soil properties in the burned areas lapsed 28 years after the forest fire in Mt.Palgong. The forest fire occurred on March, 1969 and the red pine (pinus densiflora) forest and its floor vegetation were burned down. The results are summarized as follows: the floristic composition of burned and unburned areas were composed of 49 and 48 species of vascular plants, respectively. The dominant species based on SDR4 of the burned sites were Lespedeza maximowicxii(87.75), Carex humilis (62.94), Rhododendron schippenbachii(55.78) and Miscanthus sinensis var.purpurascens (51.94). In contrast, Pinus densiflora (81.17), Quercus serrata (53.58)m Carex humilis (53.11) and Miscanthus sinenis var. purpuracens (52.42) were dominant in the unburned area. The biological spectra showed the $H-D_1-R_5-e$ type in both areas. The indices of similarity (CCs) between the two areas were 0.80. Degree of succession (DS) was 734 in the burned area and 809 in the unburned area. The species diversity (H) and evenness indices (e) in the burned and unburned areas were 2.05, 2.13 and 0.53, 0.55, respectively. Dominance index (C) in the burned and unburned areas were 0.30 and 0.32, respectively. Soil properties such as soil pH, content of organic matter, total nitrogen, total carbon, exchangeable potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium in burned area were comparatively higher than those of unburned area. Monthly changes of soil properties were of little significance except for some cases. These results suggest that there was relationship between trend of vegetation recovery and the changes of soil properties after the forest fire. Mixed forestation of fire-resistant species and nitrogen fixation species will be effective for reforestation after the forest fire.

The Determination and Prediction of Pine to Oak Forest Succession in Sugadaira, Central Japan

  • In order to analyze the succession process from a pine forest to an oak forest, the tree growth of Pinus densiflora and Quercus mongolica ssp. crispula was monitored in a permanent quadrat for 23 years. The measurements were carried out for the stem diameter (DBH) of Pinus densiflora between 1977 and 1999 and for the height of Quercus mongolica ssp. crispula saplings between 1998 and 2000. The floristic composition and the locations of the individual P. densiflora and Q. mongolica ssp. crispula trees and saplings in the quadrat were recorded. P densiflora and Q. mongolica ssp. crispula individuals were randomly distributed within the quadrat. The relative growth rates (RGR) of DBH in P. densiflora were 0.085 $yr^{-1}$ for large trees and 0.056 $yr^{-1}$ for small trees in 1977. The RGR of height for Q. mongolica ssp. crispula was 0.122 $yr^{-1}$. The growth curve for DBH of P. densiflora was approximated by the logistic equation: $$DBH(t) = 30 {[1+1.16exp(-0.13 t)]}^{-1}$$ where DBH (t) the DBH (cm) in year t and t is the number of years since 1977. The growth in height of P. densiflora and Q. mongolica ssp. crispula was described by following equations: $$H (t) = 20.2 {[1+0.407exp(-0.137 t)]}^{-1} (P. densiflora)$$ $$H (t) = 30 {[1+20.7exp(-0.122 t)}^{-1} (Q. mongolica ssp. crispula)$$ Where H (t) is the tree height (m) in year t and t is the number of years since 1977 in P. densiflora and 1998 in Q. mongolica ssp. crispula. With these equations we predicted that the height of Q. mongolica ssp. crispula increases from 2 m in 1999 to 20 m in 2029. Therefore, Q. mongolica ssp. crispula and P. densiflora will be approximately the same height in 2029. The years required for succession from a pine forest to an oak forest are expected 33 with the range between 23 and 44 years.
