The hall and the projection room of the multiplex cinema being constructed on the sixth and seventh floors at Jeonpo-dong market, Pusan, is composed of structural beams and decks considering the structures self weight problem, and the following problems are expected: - Vibration and noise generated on the floors by moving audiences may annoy the audiences in the other hall - Vibration and noise generate on the floor of the nearby hall as the audiences walk through the alley near the projection room - Vibration and noise generate on the floor of the hall nearby the projection room as the film drops This study measured and reviewed the vibration amount of the seven representative transferring routes that were selected for the halls and the alley near the projection room. Based on the analysis, the model hall was constructed and the vibration in the hall was estimated after cutting the deck. Also, this study constructed the steel stairs and investigated the vibration transferring characteristics to decide whether to construct the steel stairs in the building. Finally, the results were evaluated by actually using the stairs and reviewed the appropriateness of the measurement.

This paper analyzes the influence of the construction process on short- and long-term deflections on a reinforced concrete structure poured on-site by a portable industrialized system. A parametric analysis was carried out by the Finite Elements Method (FEM) that considered: a) type of construction process with reshoring or clearing (partial striking); b) the number of successively shored floors and c) the number of shores used on each floor. All three factors were especially important for the values of short- and long-term deflections, which were highest in the reshoring processes with the lowest number of successively shored floors and the lowest number of shores per floor. Deflections obtained were compared with the limits laid down by ACI 318-14 and as calculated by this code's simplified method. The long-term deflections were seen to be almost double than those obtained by applying the ACI 318-14 code's simplified method and in some cases these deflections were above the established limits. It can thus be concluded that the load history of a building under construction should be taken into account in order to satisfy a structure's in-service conditions and durability.
The accidents attributed to the forklift have increased as the number of the forklift increases. It is significant that most of the accidents were fatal. This study investigated slip distance of forklift depending upon the floor materials and their conditions in industrial site. For doing this, an experiment was conducted, in which the floor materials and their conditions were adopted as independent variables and the slip distance as dependent variable. Six floor materials included asphalt concrete, two color hardener mortar, epoxy paint and deluxe tile. Two types of floor conditions, wet and dry, were used in the experiment. The results showed that the slip distance was shorter on the asphalt and concrete floors than on other floors, and that the distance on the wet floor was six times longer than that on the dry condition. Based on this result, it is recommended that as in the advanced countries, the regulation or standard on the floor conditions such as friction coefficient be established for reducing forklift relevant accidents.
The purpose of this study was to find out the actual condition of University student's use of colors and its favored colors in their rooms. This is to proffer basic data for the color planning of University student's rooms in the future. Questionnaires research method was conducted and 343 sample were selected. The analysis used spss program. The result was as follows; 1) At present, Y or Light tone of YR are mostly used for the floors of University student's rooms, white or Very pale tone of Y were used for walls and ceilings, YR or various tones were used for opening parts. 2) The degree of satisfaction of the color environment was 2.87 in average - ″a little dissatisfied″, more than half of the samples needed to change the color environment. 3) The favored color image of the students was regarded as ″warm, neat, tender, bright and light″ 4) In case of the favored colors of the essential parts, floors were Y or Pale tone of YR, walls were Very pale tone of Y, PB, B, RP. And Very pale tones of B, PB, Y, White for ceilings, Pale tones of YR, White, Dark Blue for opening parts were favored.
It is the objective of the present study to conduct correlation analysis for deriving control parameters in vertical shafts using the results obtain by the design of experiments in the preceding research. The control parameters are categorized into objective parameters, derived parameters, condition parameters, operation parameters, and sensing parameters. The maximum pressure in the shaft should be sufficiently small in order to maintain exhaust hood performance. The pressure variations between floors should also be minimized in order to maintain uniform exhaust performance between floors and to save energy for excessive pressure drop in the shaft. The standard deviation based on -4Pa is proposed as an objective parameter to control pressure in shafts. The correlation equation has been obtained between the standard deviation and the sensing parameters of outdoor temperature and the pressure at the top of the shaft.
In cold season, the elevator systems in super high-rise buildings would make noises at the door-gaps on high floors, and the elevator doors on the 1st floor would suffer from opening/closing trouble due to the pressure differences. Such pressure differences are also the main driving power of smokes through the hoistway in the case of fire. In addition, the pressure differences should be overcome to use the elevator systems as a measure of emergency escape. This paper reviews the way of hoistway pressurization to reduce the adverse influences. Simulations achieved a good result close to the requirements of NFPA 92A and IBC 2012 under the condition that the hoistway should be pressurized after pressure equalizing between floors and hoistway with the openings through the hoistway wall.
Eater Seal, the child care experts, observes that children with disability significantly benefit from receiving appropriated care along side their peers. Typically developing children serve as role models from which children with disabilities team age-appropriated communications and social behavior. Therefore the children with disability can actively participate in well-designed child care settings. But unfortunately in Seoul, Korea, only 2% of children with disability are taken care of in child care centers. And even the disabled children at the child care centers are mostly mentally or emotionally disabled because the building, programs and services of the centers are restrictive to the children with severe physical disabilities. This study reviewed Korean domestic physical environment of child care centers for children with disabilities. 15 centers located in Seoul were surveyed. Our survey revealed that the accessibility to buildings is poor. There are many places with difference in height of floors. Also, there are no elevators in all buildings surveyed. Accessibility to toilet is noted as significant problem, especially wet floors in toilets. In a nursing room, a space for psychological rest and special education is needed for children with mental disability. Technical specifications on how to make buildings and facilities accessible for the children with disability should be developed. The goal of this study is to provide basic information to develop domestic design guidelines to ensure that the child care centers are safe, convenient, and usable for everyone possible.

After the large destruction of Lisbon due to the 1755 earthquake, the city had to be almost completely rebuilt. In this context, an innovative structural solution was implemented in new buildings, comprising internal timber framed walls which, together with the floors timber elements, constituted a 3-D framing system, known as "cage", providing resistance and deformation capacity for seismic loading. The internal timber framed masonry walls, in elevated floors, are constituted by a timber frame with vertical and horizontal elements, braced with diagonal elements, known as Saint Andrew's crosses, with masonry infill. This paper describes an experimental campaign to assess the in-plane cyclic behaviour of those so called "frontal" walls. A total series of 4 tests were conducted in 4 real size walls. Two models consist of the simple timber frames without masonry infill, and the other two specimens have identical timber frames but present masonry infill. Experimental characterization of the in-plane behaviour was carried out by static cyclic shear testing with controlled displacements. The loading protocol used was the CUREE for ordinary ground motions. The hysteretic behaviour main parameters of such walls subjected to cyclic loading were computed namely the initial stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation capacity.
Serviceability rather than strength is the most critical design requirement for vibration-vulnerable floor constructions. Annoying vibrations due to normal walking activity have been observed more frequently on long-span lightweight floor systems in office and commercial retail buildings, raising the need for the development of floor vibration design procedures. This paper highlights some limitations of one of the most commonly used guidelines AISC/CISC DG11, and proposes improvements to this method. Design charts and approximate closed form formulas to estimate the walking response are developed in which various factors relating to the dynamic characteristics of both the floor and the excitation are considered. The accuracy of the proposed formulas and other proposals found in the literature is examined. The proposed modifications would be significant, especially with long-span floors where vibration levels may be underestimated by the current design procedure. The application of the proposed prediction method is illustrated by worked examples that reveal a good agreement with results obtained from finite element analyses and experiments. The presented work would enhance the accuracy and maintain the simplicity and convenience of the design guideline.

The ventilation performance of a vertical exhaust duct system in the high riser public house has been evaluated by a commercial software, Fluid Flow, which solves pressure losses through the duct system including bathroom fans and a hybrid roof fan. During the numerical simulations, outdoor wind condition and stack effects in summer and winter were considered as well as the operating conditions of a basement damper and the roof fan. The results show that the bathroom ventilation in summer is the most unsatisfactory. The opening of the basement damper has a problem that the polluted air in the lower floors is exhausted to the underground parking lot, not to the rooftop. If the basement damper is closed, the exhaust flow rate in the lower floors is not sufficient due to the strong flow resistance in the long vertical duct even though the roof fan is under operating.
