  • An experimental and numerical study on shock attenuation in a solid by a subminiature flyer impact was conducted to determine the performance of a subminiature exploding foil initiator such as, flyer velocity and impulse loading. The obtained attenuation pattern shows the possibility to determine the critical flyer velocity for initiating the miniaturized pyrotechnic unit by figuring out shock intensity and duration according to flight characteristics.

  • The computational fluid analysis was carried out to investigate structural stability of exhaust duct for turboprop engine. In order to calculate the thrust and shear force acting on the flight condition of the aircraft, the flow in the exhaust duct and the flow in the direction of the exhaust duct flange were analyzed by Fluent software to obtain thrust, shear force and bending moment. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the allowable loads set idle engine manual were not exceeded.

  • Structural analyses of a engine system is required in development stage for increasing structural reliability and reducing weight. Attitude of a launch vehicle during flight is controlled by combustion chamber rotation varying with TVC (thrust vector control) actuator displacements. In this study nonlinear static analysis is performed for a 75 tonf-class liquid rocket engine using before and after the TVC actuation.

  • This paper presents an L1 optimization based filtering technique which effectively eliminates the optical misalignment effects encountered in the squint guidance mode with strapdown seekers. We formulated a series of L1 optimization problems in order to separate the bias and the gradient components from the measured data, and solved them via the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and sparse matrix decomposition techniques. The proposed technique was able to rapidly detect arbitrary discontinuities and gradient changes from the measured signals, and was shown to effectively cancel the undesirable effects coming from the seeker misalignment angles. The technique was implemented on embedded flight computers and the real-time operational performance was verified via the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) tests in parallel with the automatic target recognition algorithms and the intra-red synthetic target images.

  • The electron drift mobility of poly(4,4'-cyclohexylidenediphenyl carbonate)(PC-Z) doped with 3,5-dimethy-3,5-di-t-butylstilbenequinone(MBSQ), 3,5,3,5-tetra-t-butyl stilbenequinone(TMSQ) and 3,5,3,5-tetra-methyl stilbenequinone(TMSQ) was measured by the time-of-flight technique. The electric field and temperature dependences of the electron drift mobility were discussed with Poole-Frenkel, Arrhenius formulations and non-Arrhenius type of temperature dependence. It was assumed that the hopping sites were Gaussian distribution. Mobility and activation energy of MBSQ were increased with increasing dopant. However, mobilities and activation energy of TBSQ and TMSQ were increased and decreased, respectively.

  • Drift velocities for electrons in $SF_6$-Ar mixtures gas by simulation has been analysed over the EIN range 30~300[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and by a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] $SF_6$-Ar mixtures were measured by time-of-flight (TOF) method. The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients. longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients and mean energy agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values.

  • The transport property of stabilized amorphous selenium typical of the material used in direct conversion x-ray imaging devices was studied using the moving photo-carrier grating (MPG) technique and time-of-flight (TOF) measurements. For MPG measurement, the electron and hole mobility, and recombination lifetime of a-Se films with arsenic (As) additions have been obtained. For TOF measurement, a laser beam with pulse duration of 5ns and wavelength of 350 nm was illuminated on the surface of a-Se with thickness of $400{\mu}m$.

  • The transport properties of amorphous selenium typical of the material used in direct conversion x-ray imaging devices are reported. The effects of As addition on the carrier mobility and recombination lifetime in amorphous selenium (a-Se) films have been studied using the moving photocarrier grating (MPG) technique. We have found an increase in hole drift mobility and recombination lifetime, especially when 0.3% As is added into a-Se film, whereas electron mobility decreases with As addition due to the defect density. The transport properties for As doped a-Se films obtained by using MPG technique have been compared with the drift mobilities of holes and electrons obtained by time of flight (TOF) measurement.
