CH4공기 제트 확산화염에서 CO2 첨가에 따른 단일 와동의 동적거동에 관한 연구 (An Investigation on Dynamic Behaviors of Single Vortex with CO2 Dilution in a CH4-Air Jet Diffusion Flame)

  • The dynamic behaviors of the single vortex interacting with $CH_4-Air$ jet diffusion flame are investigated numerically. The numerical method is based on a predict-corrector scheme for a low Mach number flow. A two-step global reaction mechanism is adopted as a combustion model. Studies are conducted in fixed initial velocities for the three cases according as where $CO_2$ is added; (1) without dilution, (2) dilution in fuel stream and (3) dilution in oxidizer stream. A single vortex is generated by an axisymmetric jet, which is made by an impulse of a cold fuel when a flame is developed entirely in a computational domain. The simulation shows that $CO_2$ dilution in fuel stream results in somewhat larger vortex radius, and greater amount of entrainment of surrounding fluid than in other cases. Thus, the dilution of $CO_2$ in fuel stream enhances the mixing in single vortex and increases the stretching of the flame surface. The budgets of the vorticity transport equation are examined to reveal the mechanism of vortex formation when $CO_2$ is added. It is found that, in the case of $CO_2$ dilution in fuel stream, the vortex destruction due to volumetric expansion and the vortex production due to baroclinic torque are more dominant than in other cases.

Measurements on Effects of Locations of Obstacles in an Explosion Chamber

  • 폭발챔버에서 전파하는 화염과 장애물 위치 및 형태에 따른 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 폭발실험을 수행하였다. 챔버내에 장애물 설치 위치는 점화원으로부터 상부로 200 mm, 500 mm, 800 mm 높이로 변화를 주어 설치하였고, 장애물 형태는 삼각기둥, 사각기둥 및 원통형으로 변화시켰다. 전파하는 화염과 장애물 위치 및 형태에 따른 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 고속카메라를 사용하였다. 고속카메라로 얻어진 화염 이미지로부터 장애물 주위의 국부 화염속도 및 그 화염속도의 확률밀도함수가 계산되었다. 실험결과, 장애물이 800 mm에 위치하였을 때 화염속도 및 폭발압력이 가장 높게, 200 mm에서는 가장 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 폭발거동 특성이 장애물 위치에 큰 의존성을 가지는 것으로 해석될 수 있다. 또한, 장애물 형태가 삼각형이었을 때 화염속도 및 폭발압력이 가장 높게, 원형에서는 가장 낮게 나타났다.

시간지연 모델의 적용을 통한 수소/공기 확산화염의 음향파 응답 분석 (A Numerical Analysis of Acoustic-Pressure Response of H2-Air Diffusion Flames with Application of Time-Lag Model)

  • 희석된 수소-공기 확산화염의 응향 응답 특성을 저압과 고압 영역에서의 화염 구조 해석을 토대로 수치적으로 조사하였다. 음향 주파수가 증가함에 따라 어느 압력 영역에서든 열방출율의 비선형 축적현상에 의해 유한 화학반응의 효과가 증진된다. 이는 결국 높은 음향 증폭으로 이어지게 된다. 동일한 계산 결과를 압력 감응 시간지연 모델에 의해 재해석하였다. 시간 지연 모델의 적절한 적용을 통해, 각 압력 영역에서 시간지연과 간섭지수 인자가 정량화되었다. 음향 증폭의 정도를 나타내는 간섭지수는 어느 압력 영역에서든 1000 Hz 근처에서 최고값을 나타내었고, 고압영역에서 화염이 더 불안정한 응답을 보였다. 음향 주파수에 따른 간섭지수의 변화 경향은 기존의 증폭지수 변화 경향과 잘 일치하였다.

노즐 특성 변화에 따른 미분무수와 화염과의 상호작용에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on Interaction between Fire Flame and Water Mist according to the Variation of Nozzle Performance)

  • In the present study, the numerical investigation on the effects of water-mist characteristics has been carried out for the fire suppression mechanism. The FDS are used to simulate the interaction of fire plume and water mists, and program describes the fire-driven flows using LES turbulence model, the mixture fraction combustion model, the finite volume method of radiation transport for a non-scattering gray gas, and conjugate heat transfer between wall and gas flow. The numerical model is consisted of a rectangular enclosure of $L{\times}W{\times}H=1.5{\times}1.5{\times}2.0m$ and a water mist nozzle that be installed 1.8m from fire pool. In the study, the parameters of nozzle for simulation are the droplet size and the spray velocity. Finally, the droplet size influences to fire flume on fire suppression than spray velocity because of the effect of terminal velocity, and the optimal condition for fire suppression is that the droplet size and the spray velocity are $100{\mu}m$ and 20m/s, respectively.

  • 희박 예혼합 스월 연소기의 난류 연소와 화학반응간의 간섭 메커니즘을 파악하기 위하여 Large Eddy Simulation(LES)을 수행하였다. 난류 화염의 유동 특성을 자세히 살펴보기 위하여 비정상 난류 연소 수치해석 기법을 적용하여, 약간의 연료 덩어리가 일차연소영역(Primary combustion zone)에서 빠져나와 선회 방향으로 흘러 국부적 핫스팟(hot spot)을 발생시키며, 이는 large vortical structure를 만들어 내는 것을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 압력변동과 비정상 열 방출 사이의 관계는 공간 및 시간적 Rayleigh parameter에 의해 고찰되었다.

액적배열연소의 상호간섭에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study About Interaction of Droplet Array Combustion)

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the interaction phenomena of droplet array combustion in ambient environment. The droplet with 1 mm in diameter was supported from an optical fiber and ignited with a hot wire. Combustion lifetimes and burning rate constants were measured for fuel of nheptane according to parameters, which were junction and suspender spacings, and array configuration. Results show that the burning process considerably depends on the initial away configuration. The d$^2$-law is found to be correct when applied to both of the droplets in away and the single droplet. For separation distance of about 5mm, there exists a critical state. So the transition from a merged flame to separated flames occurs and burning velocity is much faster than before. Combustion lifetime of the lower droplet is shorter than that of the upper droplet in the two-dimensional arrays combustion. Burning rate constants of the droplets in arrays are smaller than that of the single droplet, while they become higher as separation distance increases. Combustion lifetimes of the droplets in arrays are longer than that of the single droplet and decrease as separation distance increase. It is concluded that the array configuration and the mergedness of the flame are the most important factors governing multi-droplet combustion.

파장별 회체가스중합모델을 이용한 대향류 화염에서의 복사 흡수 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Self-absorption in Opposed Flames Using WSGGM-Based Spectral Model)

  • WSGGM based low-resolution spectral model for calculating radiation transfer in combustion gases is applied to estimate self-absorption of radiation energy in one-dimensional opposed flow flames. Development of such a model is necessary in order to enable detailed chemistry-radiation interaction calculations including self-absorption. Database of band model parameters which can be applied to various one-dimensional opposed flow diffusion and partially premixed flames is created. For the validation of the model and database, low resolution spectral intensities at fuel exit side are calculated and compared with the results of a narrow band model with those based on the Curtis-Godson approximation. Good agreements have been found between them. The resulting radiation model is coupled to the OPPDIF code to calculate the self-absorption of radiant energy and compared with the results of an optically thin calculation and the results of a discrete ordinates method in conjunction with the statistical narrow band model. Significant self-absorption of radiation is found for the flames considered here particularly for the fuel side of the reacting zone. However, the self-absorption does not have significant effects on the flame structure in this case. Even in the case of the low velocity diffusion flame and the partially premixed flame of low equivalence ratio, the effects of self-absorption of radiation on the flame temperature and production of minor species are not significant.

MIXING CONDITIONS WITH SPRAY-JET INTERACTION FOR EFFECTIVE SOOT REDUCTION IN DIESEL COMBUSTION

  • The authors have reported significant reductions in particulate emissions of diesel engines by generating strong turbulence during the combustion process. This study aims to identify optimum conditions of turbulent mixing for effective soot reduction during combustion. The experiments were conducted with a constant volume combustion vessel equipped with abet-generating cell, in which a small amount of fuel is injected during the combustion of the main spray. The jet of burned gas from the cell impinges the main flame, causing changes In the mixing of fuel and air. Observation was made for a variety combinations of distances between spray nozzle and Jet orifice at different directions of impingement. It Is shown that compared with the case without Jet flame soot decreases when the jet impinges. When the jet is very close to the flame, it penetrates the soot cloud and causes little mixing. There were no apparent differences in the combustion duration when the direction of impingement was varied, although the mechanisms of soot reduction seemed different. An analysis of local turbulent flews with PIV (Particle image Velocimetry) showed the relationship between the scale of the turbulence and the size of the soot cloud.

  • 케로신을 연료로 하는 동축 스월 분사기에 대해 정상 상태 및 비정상 상태의 연소 해석을 수행하였다. 난류연소 모델로 화학평형 상태로 가정하는 Non-premixed equilibrium 모델을 이용하였고, 고압의 조건에서 실제유체의 거동을 다룰 수 있도록 상태방정식으로 SRK(Soave-Redlich-Kwong) 상태방정식을 적용하였다. 해석을 통해 온도분포, OH 질량분율 등 정상 상태의 계산 결과와 시간 평균된 비정상 상태의 계산 결과를 비교하였고, 이들 간의 화염 구조가 서로 상이함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Experimental data conducted by Colson et al. and numerical data conducted in this study were compared through counterflow flames to understand of the characteristic of basic flame about mixture of ammonia/methane. In order to use the suitable numerical mechanism, the validation was performed using total four mechanisms and the Okafor's mechanism showed satisfactory experimental results. The extinction boundary of the stability map could be explained through the effective Lewis number and the trend of LeD. The extinction behavior of the flame was different under the lean and rich symmetric conditions and it was investigated by the major variables, global strain rate (ag) and mole fraction of ammonia (ΩNH3).
