어종 인식 및 체장 측정 자동화 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automation of Fish Species Identification and Body Length Measurement System)

  • 수산자원의 남획, 기후변화 및 어업종별 경쟁 조업 등으로 어업생산량은 지속적으로 감소하고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하고자 개별어종에 대해 연간 어획량을 설정하여, 그 한도 내에서만 어획을 허용하는 수산자원 관리제도인 TAC(총허용어획량 제도)를 제정하였다. TAC 제도의 일환으로 육상 조사원이 위판장 어종의 체장, 체고를 측정하여 무게를 산출하여 TAC 소진량을 산출한다. 하지만 육상 조사원의 숙련도에 따라 취득 데이터의 정확도가 상이하고 노동 집약적 업무로 인해 지속가능 하지 못하다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하고자 본 논문에서는 물제와의 거리를 측정할 수 있는 스마트 패드의 카메라를 이용하여 TAC 관리 여덟 어종의 체장, 체고를 측정하고 무게를 산출하고 자동화하는 어종 인식 및 체장 측정 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 통해 현행 노동 집약적 업무의 스마트화와 데이터 누락을 최소화하여 TAC 제도 확립을 기대할 수 있다.

태안 연안에서 통발어선과 자망어선의 상업적 조업에 어획된 수산생물의 종조성 및 계절 변동 (Species composition and seasonal variation of the aquatic organism caught by commercial fishing of the pot and gill net in the coastal waters off Taean, Korea)

  • Species composition and seasonal variation of aquatic organism in the coastal waters off Taean, Korea were investigated using catches by commercial fishing of the pot and gill net from April 2010 to January 2011. A total of 58 species, 10,602 individuals and 547,569g of aquatic organism were collected during the study. Aquatic organism were composed of 22 species of Pisces, 20 species of Crustacea, 8 species of Gastropoda, 3 species of Echinodea, 2 species of Cephalopoda and Bivalvia, and 1 species of Holothuroidea. 41 species in 9 orders and 22 families were collected by the pot, and 28 species in 15 orders and 22 families were collected by the gill net. Volutharpa ampullacea was the most dominant in the pot, while Okamejei kenojei was the most dominant in the gill net. These two species accounted for 73.9% in the number of individuals, and 64.4% in biomass. The number of species was high in spring in the pot, and autumn in the gill net. The number of individuals and biomass were highest in winter and summer respectively in the pot, and summer in the gill net. The number of species of the consignment quantity caught by commercial fishery of the pot and gill net in Mohang was 12 and 14 respectively. Cluster analysis based on species composition of the 18 most common species showed that the species were separated into 3 different group. Group A was composed of species which were abundant in spring, group B was composed of species which were abundant in summer and autumn, and group C was composed of year-round residents.

Estimation of Consumer Value on Import Management of Seafood Obtained from IUU Fishing: Using Choice Experiment Method

  • Purpose - This study empirically analyzes the consumer value of risk management associated with illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing of fishery products imported to Korea. The global regulatory paradigm for IUU fishing has shifted from production-centered to market-centered. As a result, changes in the international fisheries trade environment emphasizing "transparency" and "legality" of the production process are accelerating. Therefore, changes in the management systems of fishery products entering the country are also needed. Accordingly, this study estimated the consumer value for risk management of IUU fishing, targeting major fish species imported to Korea, and derived the feasibility of introducing related policies. Design/methodology - This study used the choice experiment as an analysis model to estimate consumers' willingness to pay for the "possibility to check for IUU fishing." The choice experiment assumes that the value of a good or service is composed of separable attributes and that the sum of the part-worth of these individual attributes becomes the total value. In this study, respondents were presented with profiles comprising three attributes (country of origin, price, and possibility of checking IUU fishing) and the levels of frozen poulp squid, the subject of the analysis. The participants were asked to select their preferred profile. The marginal willingness to pay for each attribute was derived from the results of the respondents' choices using conditional logit model estimates. Findings - There is a marked difference in utility based on the preference of the country of origin of fishery products among consumers. In addition, the utility of fishery products that have undergone IUU fishing verification was observed to be higher, with the utility marked to be higher for lower prices. Originality/value - Estimating the policy value of the risk management in IUU fishing of imported fisheries products in this study is a novel attempt that has never been conducted before. Several studies have been conducted to assess the risk of IUU fishing associated with the import of fishery products internationally. However, such studies are yet to be conducted in Korea. Instead, policies and studies have focused on issues related to complying with trading partners' legal and transparent standards for exporting fishery products. This study should be the beginning of more in-depth empirical and theoretical explorations to establish order in the domestic seafood market and respond to changes in international regulations on IUU fishing.

여수연해 정치망어장의 해황과 어황에 관한 연구 (Oceanographic Condition and Fishing Condition of the Set Net Fishing Ground in Yeosu Bay)

  • 여수연해 정치망 어장의 6월, 7월, 8월의 해황변화에 따른 어황관계를 조사하고 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 하천수의 유입이 많은 내해와 돌산연안의 정치망 어장에서는 고온.저염분수가 분포하고 외해에는 저온 고염분수가 분포한다. 2) 정치망 어장부근에는 6월의 와류형성과 8월의 수온약층 형성으로 어류가 군집을 하는데 영향을 미쳐 좋은 어획량을 보여 주고 있다. 3) 정치망 어장에서 어획수온범위는 11$^{\circ}C$~28$^{\circ}C$이며 좋은 어획량을 나타내는 범위는 21$^{\circ}C$~27$^{\circ}C$였다. 또한 염분의 범위는 31.60$\textperthousand$~34.80$\textperthousand$이고 어획이 가장 좋은 범위는 33.80$\textperthousand$~33.99$\textperthousand$였다. 4) 어획대상물의 어획순위는 삼치, 전갱이, 삼치, 정어리, 고등어, 갈치의 순으로 나타났다.

대형선망어업의 주요 목표종의 어장 변동 (A study on fluctuation of the fishing grounds of target fishes by the Korean large purse seine fishery)

  • Korean large purse seine fishery catches chub mackerel, sardine, jack mackerel, Spanish mackerel, etc. which are mainly pelagic fish species. The proportion of chub mackerel was 60% over in Korean large purse seine fishery. Sea surface temperature (SST) increased $0.0253^{\circ}C$ per year and total rising rate was $0.759^{\circ}C$ from 1980 to 2009 in the southern sea of Korea, where is mainly fishing grounds of Korean large purse seine. It was that p<0.01 level was statistically significant. It is northward movement that the center of fishing grounds of chub mackerel by Korean large purse seine fishery moved 4.57km/yr. It was rapidly northward movement about 7.1km/yr, 8.13km/yr to move Spanish mackerel and bluefin tuna fishing grounds. However, the fishing grounds of jack mackerel were moved further south in the 2000s than the 1980s. Catch of tunas and bluefin tuna consistently increased in Korean waters. There was a significantly positive correlation between SST and catch of bluefin tuna in the fishing grounds of Korean waters.

우리나라 경북 연안해역 문어통발 어업실태에 관한 연구 (A study on the status of octopus pot fishery in the coastal seas of Gyeongbuk, Korea)

  • In this study, the fishery status of the octopus pot fishery in the east coastal sea were investigated, and the fishing performance of each pot shape was compared and analyzed. The fishery status survey was conducted through listening surveys at Jukbyeon Port, Uljin Port and Pohang Daebo Port in Gyeongbuk Province, and the amount of fishing gear used, fishing method, size and loss of octopus pot fishery was investigated. On the east coastal sea, octopus is one of the commercially important fish stocks and is caught in inshore pots, inshore combos, inshore gillnets and offshore pots. Among these fishing methods, pot fishing yields the highest catch. The shape of the pot differs depending on the region. In Uljin (Jukbyeon Port and Hupo Port), Gyeongbuk, rectangular type net pots are mainly used, and in Pohang (Daebo Port) in Gyeongbuk, drum-type pots are mostly used. Enteroctopus dofleini accounts for more than 90% of the catch of octopus. For the octopus fishing performance test by trap type, three types of traps (rectangular pot, drum pot and cylinder pot) were used on the coastal sea of Pohang Daebo. As a result, the total catch by pot shape was shown in the order of rectangular-type pot > drum-type pot > cylinder-type pot. The catch of octopus, the target species, was in the following order: rectangular-type pot > drum-type pot > cylinder-type pot. Such result shows a significant difference (Mann-Whitney test, p<0.05).

A New Record of Stephanasterias albula (Asteroidea: Forcipulatida: Asteriidae) from the East Sea, Korea

  • A sea star was collected with fishing nets at a depth of approximately 100-160 m in the East Sea and was identified as Stephanasterias albula (Stimpson, 1853) belonging to the family Asteriidae of the order Forcipulatida. This species characterized by having the capability of asexual reproduction by self-division turned out to be new to the Korean fauna. Its morphological characteristics are redescribed with illustrations. Thirty one species of sea stars including S. albula are now recorded from the East Sea of Korea.

A Newly Recorded Sea Star (Asteroidea: Valvatida) from Jejudo Island, Korea

  • Some asteroid specimens were collected from the subtidal zone near Gapado, Jejudo Island with fishing net on June 2010. Among them, Anseropoda petaloides (Goto, 1914) which belongs to the family Asterinidae of the order Valvatida turned out to be a new record from Korea. Morphological characters of this species collected at 130 m deep are redescribed with photographs. This species is characterized by its very thin body composed of plates imbricated into each other like scales. Twenty four asteroids are currently known from Jejudo Island, Korea.

  • This paper develops a methematical model for growth and exploitation of a schooling fish species using a realistic catch-rate function and imposing a tax on the catch to control harvesting. Fishing effort is assumed to depend on the net revenue. The steady states of the system are determined and their local and global stabil-ity are discussed. Taking the tax as a control variable; the optimal harvest policy is formulated and solved as a control problem. The results are illustrated with the help of a numerical example.

A new record of sea star genus Henricia (Asteroidea: Spinulosida: Echinasteridae) from Jeju Island, Korea

  • Some asteroid specimens of genus Henricia were collected at a depth of 50-90 m near waters of Moseulpo, Jeju Island, Korea using fishing nets on September 2015. The specimens were identified as Henricia elachys Clark and Jewett, 2010 belonging to the family Echinasteridae of order Spinulosida. This small species can be distinguished from other Henricia species by short arms, moderately inflated arm base, and slightly broad disk. The morphological characteristics of this species were described with illustrations. Up to date, there are nine species of genus Henricia reported in Korean fauna.
