  • Hypergolic propellants, which can ignite themselves without an ignition source, are difficult to handle due to their corrosiveness and toxicity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop green hypergolic propellants with little or no toxicity. In this study, basic research on green hypergolic ignition propellants was conducted. With 95% hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer and CNU_HGFv1 as a fuel, ignition and combustion characteristics of propellants were evaluated through a drop test, an ignition test, and a combustion test. As a result of the drop test, the ignition delay time was 9.7 ms. It was 27 ms in the ignition test, which was fast enough to be used as a propellant. As a result of the combustion test, a combustion efficiency of 95.4~98.1% was achieved at about 11.7 bar. It was confirmed that fast and stable combustion was possible without hard start or combustion instability.

  • Purpose: Firefighters were subjected to be exposed to 24-hour shiftwork and high level of job stress, but there is little study of fire fighters about between Job Stress and Psychological stress in Korea. This study was performed to evaluate job stress of fire fighters grouped by different job types and analyze the health effect of job stress by using a PWI-SF(Psycho-social Well-being Index, Short Form). Methods : This study was to measure the degree of job stress and socio-psychological stress of firefighters working at 119 safety center and analyze the relationship between job stress and mental health, through self-administered questionnaire survey on 918 fire fighters working at fire department located in Korea, during October in 2008. Question items of the questionnaire consist of general characteristics, job stress, and socio-psychological stress. Job Stress Measurement Scale for Koreans was used to measure job stress, while PWI-SF used for socio-psychological stress. Collected data was analyzed through frequency analysis, ${\chi}^2$ test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multi-regression analysis using a statistic program, SPSS/10.0 Ver for Windows, and statistical significance level was 0.05. Result : Accordingly, this paper is written for the purpose of scrutinizing the reason of 119 rescuers' job stress and Socio-Psychological stress. This thesis tries to analyze a problem and provide contents through many variables concerned and theoretical investigation with the actual research of questionnaire. The results of the study are summarized as follows : Fire fighters feel relatively high stressful in their performance. Job stress, organizational commitment and burnout did not have been influence upon by individual cases such as economic condition, regular exercise etc. Finally, as a result of step by step regression analysis, the variable that can explain Socio-Psychological stress the best was negative emotion scale(NE). Conclusions : It is necessary to conduct repeated studies in the future, since the study implied that there was a contrary relationship between job stress and socio-psychological stress. In order to reduce job stress and maintain better mental health, it is more important than anything else to help firefighters have willingness and efforts to sustain a healthy life, so the development of various programs and education to raise their awareness should be implemented.

  • As a material for preventing spalling of concrete, the effectiveness of PP fiber has already been confirmed. However, it is necessary to consider the maximum temperature that occurs during a fire, and to solve the mixing problem and the strength reduction problem that occur depending on the mixing amount. In this study, the fire resistance performance of tunnel segment linings according to the PP fiber content and air volume under the RABT fire scenario was investigated. As a result, no spalling or cross-sectional loss occurred in all test specimens, and when the PP fiber content was small, the maximum temperature was relatively high and the maximum temperature arrival time was also fast. On the other hand, no trend was found for the maximum temperature and arrival time according to the difference in air volume. In the internal temperature distribution results for the PP fiber mixing amount of 0.75, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 kg/m3, the results of 0.75 and 1.0 kg/m3 showed similar temperature distribution, and the results of 1.5 and 2.0 kg/m3 were similar. It was confirmed that the internal temperature distribution tends to decrease at the same depth when the amount of PP fiber mixed is large, and it was confirmed that a remarkable difference occurred from the results of 1.0 kg/m3 and 1.5 kg/m3 of PP fiber mixed amounts.

  • The primary objective of this study is to investigate the production and performance characteristics of structural concrete incorporating varying proportions (0%, 25%, and 50% by volume) of pumice stone, as well as aluminum lathe as an additive at 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%, under fire conditions. The experiment will be conducted over a period of up to 1 hour, at temperatures ranging from 24℃, 200℃, 400℃ and 600℃. For the purpose of this, a total of twelve test samples were manufactured, and then tests of compressive strength (CS), splitting tensile strength (STS), and flexural strength (FS) were performed on these samples.Next, a comparison was made between the obtained values and the influence of temperature. To achieve this objective, the manufactured samples were placed at temperatures of 200℃, 400℃, and 600℃ for a duration of 1 hour, and were subjected to the influence of temperature. These values at 24 ℃ were then contrasted with the CS results obtained from test samples that were subjected to the temperature effect for an hour at 200 ℃, 400 ℃, and 600 ℃. A comprehensive analysis of the test outcomes reveals that the incorporation of aluminum lathe wastes into a mixture results in a significant reduction in the compressive strength of the concrete. As a result of this adjustment, the CS values dropped by 32.93%, 45.70%, and 52.07%, respectively. Furthermore, It was shown that testing the ratios of pumice stone alone resulted in a decrease in CS outcomes. Additionally, it was found that the presence of higher temperatures is clearly the primary factor contributing to the decrease in the strength of concrete. Due to elevated temperatures, the CS values decreased by 19.88%, 28.27%, and 38.61% respectively. After this investigation, an equation that explains the connection between CS and STS was provided through the utilization of the data of the experiments that were carried out.

  • PURPOSES : This study was conducted to derive the optimum mixing ratio of phosphorescent pigment for the development of phosphorescent line marking. METHODS: In this study, we utilized a literature review and case study methodology, to describe the domestic and foreign state of practice for the production and mixing of phosphorescent pigment for use in line marking. The optimal mixing ratio was derived by comparing the reduction in luminance over time for the various phosphorescent pigment mixing ratios identified in the literature. In addition, performance and construction characteristics were analyzed using field testing techniques. RESULTS : The results were as follows: 1) the results of the luminance performance standards tests showed that all of the phosphorescence test specimens satisfied the phosphorescent fire protection standard. As the phosphorescent pigment mixing ratio increased, the luminance value increased, 2) the luminance reduction rate was minimum at the mixing ratio of 50%. However, when compared to a mixing ratio 40%, a small difference was recorded, the luminance reduction rate from the mixing ratio of 40% is judged as being converged. Therefore, in view of the economic efficiency, it was determined that the optimal mixing ratio was 40%, 3) as a result of construction on the field, a mixing ratio of 40% was found to have a higher luminance value than the general line marking for up to three hours after sunset, 4) it was found that the phosphorescent line markings without glass beads spraying had a higher luminance value than the phosphorescent line markings with glass beads spraying. CONCLUSIONS : Through the results of the basic experiments of the line markings obtained by blending a phosphorescent pigment, the results could be applied to play an important role in the development of phosphorescent line marking paint technology and in establishing application planning for on-site construction characteristics.

  • In this study, the anchoring performance of 57mm headed bars anchored at the external beam-column joint under cyclic loading was evaluated. A total of 6 external beam-column joint test specimens were planned, and anchorage performance was evaluated by setting concrete compressive strength, side covering thickness, lateral reinforcement ratio, and fracture type as major experimental variables. As result of cyclic loading test, it was found that the factors that had the greatest influence on the anchoring capacity of the large-diameter headed bar anchored at the joint were the side cover thickness and the transverse reinforcing bar. It was confirmed that the 57mm large-diameter headed bar anchored at the external beam-column joint showed sufficient anchoring capacity even under cyclic loading.

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine the levels of the perception and work performance of patient safety based on the healthcare accreditation criteria among long-term care hospital nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed using questionnaires. Out of 205 criteria, 39 items relevant to patient safety were selectively adapted for this study. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean scores of perception and work performance were 4.36 and 4.24 out of 5, respectively, and the difference between them was significantly different (t=5.78, p<.001). The two variables were both significantly higher among those nurses who were older, married, head nurses, had many nursing experiences, and aware of Healthcare Accreditation than the other nurses. Positive correlations were observed between perception and work performance in all three sub-systems. The relations between these two in the patient care system was the most highly correlated (r=.894, p<.001). The lowest scores of perception and work performances were fire-related criteria (i.e., reporting). Conclusion: Overall, subject's perception proves to be higher than their work performance. It is necessary to develop some viable environment and training programs to enhance their work performance up to the level of their perception of patient safety.

  • In this paper, we report the test results of a small-scale prototype that implements an analogue-beam-formed phased antenna array in the E-band. A four-channel dual-conversion receive RF module for 71~76 GHz frequency band has been developed and integrated with a linear end-fire antenna array. Measured performance is very close to the simulated results. An ad-hoc wireless communication system has also been demonstrated. Low BER was measured for an 8PSK data stream at 1.5 Gbps with the receive array beam formed in the direction of arrival of the transmitted signal. To our knowledge this is the first steerable antenna array reported to date in the E-band.
