국내 배경지역 대기 미세먼지의 기류 이동경로별 조성변화: 2013년 측정 (Composition Variation of Atmospheric Fine Particulate Matters in Accordance with Air Mass Transport Pathways at Background Site of Korea in 2013)

  • The collection of fine particulate matter samples was made at Gosan site of Jeju Island, one of the background sites of Korea, during a year of 2013, and their water-soluble ionic species were analyzed in order to examine the chemical compositions and pollution characteristics. The concentrations of $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NH_4{^{+}}$, $NO_3{^{-}}$, and $K^+$ had occupied 66.0% of water-soluble ionic species in $PM_{10}$, especially 94.3% in $PM_{2.5}$ fine mode, however the $nss-Ca^{2+}$ and $Na^+$ showed high concentrations in $PM_{10-2.5}$ coarse mode. $NO_3{^-}/nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ concentration ratios in $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{10-2.5}$ were 0.30 and 0.13, showing less significant effect from automobile and local pollution sources. The sulfate and nitrate compounds were presumed to be long-range transported to Gosan area by the relatively high SOR and NOR values. The trajectory cluster analysis showed the higher concentrations of the major secondary pollutants ($nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^{-}}$, $NH_4{^{+}}$) and $nss-Ca^{2+}$ when the air masses had moved from China continent and Korean peninsula into Gosan area.

사물인터넷기반 미세먼지 측정 시스템 구현 (The Implementation of the Fine Dust Measuring System based on Internet of Things(IoT))

  • 최근 미세먼지에 의해 건강이 나빠지는 문제가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 건강에 악영향을 끼치는 미세먼지는 실외뿐만 아니라 실내에서도 인체에 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 우리가 생활하고 있는 실내에서 미세먼지의 농도를 측정하여 건강에 해로운 미세먼지를 제어하는 시스템이 필요하다. 기존의 미세먼지 측정 시스템의 효율성을 상승시키기 위해서 사물인터넷(IoT) 기술을 적용하였다. 특히 양방향 통신이 가능한 환경을 위하여 무료 클라우드 서버 대신에 개별 서버를 직접 구축하여 시스템에 적용하였으며 이를 학교 실습실과 가정에서 직접 활용해 보았다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템을 학교 및 가정에 사용할 경우, 빠르게 실내 환경을 인지할 수 있고 이는 점진적으로 개인들의 건강에 도움이 될 것으로 판단되며, 외부에서도 서버 데이터를 확인하여 현재의 실내 상황에 대한 대처가 가능할 수 있다.

  • 최근 이슈가 되고 있는 미세먼지(fine dust)는 직경이 $10{\mu}g/m^3$이하인 미립자물질(particulate matter)로서, 흡입 시 인체에 치명적인 악영향을 주는 오염물질로 분류되어 있다. 미세먼지가 바람에 날려 비산할 때 주변에 끼치는 악영향이 증가하므로, 이러한 비산먼지(fugitive dust)를 잘 통제해야 한다. 특히 건설업은 한국에서 가장 비산먼지를 많이 배출하는 사업 분야이므로, 건설현장에서 배출되는 비산먼지를 잘 관리하는 것이 국내 미세먼지의 문제를 해결하는 중요사안이 될 수 있다. 그러나 현재 국내의 비산먼지 관련 민원 수중 건설업이 가장 큰 비율을 차지하고 있는 실태로 보아, 국내의 건설현장 비산먼지 배출에 대한 제도적인 관리에 대한 점검이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 국내외 주요도시별 건설현장에 적용되는 비산먼지 규정을 비교분석한 뒤, 도출한 개선안을 제안하여 국내 건설현장 비산먼지의 제도적 관리에 일조하고자 한다.

  • The People have a bad perception about diesel vehicle because of serious air pollution, increase fine dust and global vehicle company's diesel gate. Starting the project in 2005, Ministry of Environment has been supporting that is exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF) on diesel vehicles in the metropolitan area. During the period of 2017.01.01 to 2017.12.31, 10,030 diesel vehicles installed exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF). Among them, 9,921 diesel vehicles that they have sufficient data for analysis were analyzed amount of particulate matter reduction before and after exhaust gas reduction devices (DPF) was installed. Opacity smoke meter measures the concentration of particulate matter. So concentration of particulate matter was converted into a mass unit, and then calculated the total amount of reduced particulate matter. It was estimated that social benefits is costs required to remove it from the total amount of particulate matter.

석탄화력발전시설에서의 하이브리드 집진기 적용 시 수은화합물 제어성능 평가 (Performance of Removal Efficiency for Mercury Compounds using Hybrid Filter System in a Coal-fired Power Plant)

  • This study focused on the performance of the newly developed hybrid filter system to capture fine particulate matter and mercury compounds in a coal-fired power plant. The hybrid filter system combining bag-filter and electrostatic precipitator had been developed to remove fine particulate matter. However, it would have a good performance to control mercury compounds as well. In Hybrid filter capture system, the total removal efficiency of total mercury compounds consisting of particulate mercury ($Hg_p$), oxidized mercury ($Hg^{2+}$), and elemental mercury ($Hg^0$) was 66.2%. The speciation of mercury compounds at inlet and outlet of Hybrid filter capture system were 1.3% and 0% of $Hg_p$, 85.2% and 68.1% of $Hg^0$, and 13.5% and 31.9% of $Hg^{2+}$, respectively. In hybrid filter capture system injected with 100% of flue-gas, the removal efficiency of total mercury was calculated to increase to 93.5%.

제주시 대기부유부진 중 수용성 이온성분의 입경별 분포특성 (Size Distribution of Water-Soluble Ionic Components in the Atmospheric Aerosols Collected in Jeju City, Korea)

  • Atmospheric particulate matters were collected by 8-stage non viable cascade impactor from October 2002 to August at Jeju City. Eight water-soluble ionic components $(Na^+,\;NH_{4}_{+},\;K^+,\;Ca{2+},\;Mg^{2+},\;CI^-,\;NO_{3}^-\;and\;SO_{4}^{2-})$ were analyzed by Ion Chromatography. The concentration of particulate matters and eight water-soluble ionic components were determined to investigate their size distributions. Particulate matters exhibited a tri-modal distribution with peak value around $0.9,\;4.0{\mu}m\;and\;9.5{\mu}m.$ In summer, the last peak value was lower than other season values likely due to particulate matter scavenged by rain water. Four ionic components $(Na^+,\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}\;and\;CI^-)$ exhibited a bi-modal distribution in the coarse mode whereas three ionic components $(NH_{4}^+,\;K^+\;and\;SO_{4}^{2-})$ in the fine mode, with maximum peak value around $0.9{\mu}m.\;NO_{3}^-$ was found in both the coarse and the fine mode. The enrichment factor (E.F.) of each ionic components was calculated. Based upon E.F., it is considered that $Na^+,\;CI^-,\;and\;K^+$ in coarse paricle mode were delivered form oceanic source, but other components might have other source origins.

都市大氣中 黃酸鹽과 窒酸鹽 關한 硏究 (A Study of Size Distribution of Sulfate and Nitrate in Urban Air)

  • Particulate matter was collected by Andersen Air Sampler in the Seoul area during February-October, 1985, in order to investigate size distribution of sulfate and nitrate in aerosol, and conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfate and that of nitrogen dioxide to nitrate. The size distribution of sulfate and nitrate had fine mode. The ratio of fine sulfate to total sulfate in aerosol and that of fine nitrate to total nitrate showed between 54.6% and 86%, and 55.7% and 95%, respectively, which presumably originated from gaseous reaction of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere.

조리과정에서 생성된 미세먼지의 크기분포 특성 (Size Distribution Characteristics of Particulate Matter Emitted from Cooking)

  • The characteristics of particulate matter made from daily cooking at a Korean residential apartment house with three dwellers had been investigated for about 3 months. All data were recorded by an optical particle counter every minute at the kitchen. Types of cooking such as boiling, frying, and grilling that performed in the house were listed. Boiling only was used in 32% cases among total 234 meals. Frying and grilling were 14% and 11%, respectively. From an initial indoor particulate matter smaller than 10 ㎛ in diameter, the increases due to cooking are reported by size. In case of boiling, PM at 1-10 ㎛ size and under 1 ㎛ size little increased. Normally, particles from oil or combustion in a process of frying or grilling increased indoor PM. In a case of grilling, particle mass concentration in a region of 1-10 ㎛ in diameter increased as much as 295 ㎍/㎥. Mass concentration of particles smaller than 1 ㎛ increased as much as 33 ㎍/㎥.

Distinct Oxidative Damage of Biomolecules by Arrays of Metals Mobilized from Different Types of Airborne Particulate Matters: SRM1648, Fine (PM2.5), and Coarse (PM10) Fractions

  • This study was performed to examine the in vitro toxicities which are incurred due to the mobilization metals from standard reference material (SRM) 1648, fine ($PM_{2.5}$), and coarse ($PM_{10}$) particulate matter collected in Seoul metropolitan area. DNA single strand breaks of approximately 74% and 62% for $PM_{2.5}$ and for $PM_{10}$, respectively, were observed in the presence of chelator (EDTA or citrate)/reductant (ascorbate), as compared to the control by 2% without chelator or reductant. $PM_{2.5}$ induced about 40% more carbonyl formation with proteins in the presence of EDTA/ascorbate than $PM_{10}$. Therefore, more damage to biomolecules was incurred upon exposure to $PM_{2.5}$ than to $PM_{10}$. The treatment of a specific chelator, desferrioxamine, to the reaction mixture containing chelator plus reductant decreased the extent of damage to DNA to the level of the control, but did not substantially decrease the extent of damage to proteins. This suggests that different arrays of metals were involved in the oxidation of DNA and proteins.

OXIDATION CHARACTERISTICS OF PARTICULATE MATTER ON DIESEL WARM-UP CATALYTIC CONVERTER

  • Modern passenger cars with diesel engines are equipped with DOC(diesel oxidation catalyst) for the purpose of reducing HC and CO in the exhaust stream. Cold start exhaust emissions pose troubles here as on gasoline engine vehicles. As a result, some of the diesel passenger cars roll off todays the assembly lines with WCC(warm-up catalytic converter). Oxidation characteristics of the particulates in WCC is analyzed in this study by EEPS(engine exhaust particulate size spectrometer). The maximum number of PM is found to come out of WCC in sizes near 10nm when an HSDI diesel engine is operated under the conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load. When the temperature of the WCC exceeds $300^{\circ}C$, the number of PM smaller than 30 nm in diameter sharply increases upon passing through the WCC. Total mass of emitted PM gets reduced downstream of the WCC under low speed and light load conditions due to adsorption of PM onto the catalyst. Under conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load, the relatively large PM shrink or break into fine particles during oxidation process within the WCC, which results in more mass fraction of fine particles downstream of the WCC.
