It is an established fact that most of the carcinogens implicate bay-region diol epoxides as the ultimate carcinogenic metabolites. These electrophiles react with nucleophilic sites in the cells to form abducts. It is the formation of carcinogenic-DNA adducts that is thought to initiate carcinogenesis. In our previous study we have reported chemopreventive property of Ginseng on 7,12-dimethylbenz (a)anthracene (DMBA) induced skin papillomagenesis in male Swiss albino mice. In this study we have examined the effect on formation of DMBA-DNA adducts in rat hepatocytes pretreated with ginseng. Primary cultures of rat hepatocytes were used. The cells wets treated with ginseng for 24 hrs and then with DMBA (iOn) for 18 hrs. Cells were then harvested, their DNA was isolated and analyzed by P)2 labelling. A significant reduction in the levels of DMBA-DNA adduces (adducts/108 nucleotides) was observed in all cultures pretreated with ginseng. The viability of cells was not affected by pre-treatment with ginseng. Our finding suggests that ginseng block or suppresses the events associated with chemical carcinogenesis by inhibiting metabolic activation of the carcinogens.

It is recognized not only by the health experts but also by the public that venereal diseases are remarkably increasing in these days. Therefore, every available measure for declining of the diseases are planned and implemented through case-finding, diagnosis, treatment, education and research. The author intended to compare and analyse infection rates of venereal diseases between reporting from the Ministry of Health and author's private V.D. clinic during 1961-1971. The following results are obtained through the study: 1. According to the report of the Ministry of Health, 45.0% of total examinees were sick with gonorrhea and 6.5% with syphilis, in one hand, on the other hand 78.7% with gonorrhea and 16.3% with syphilis at the author's clinic. 2. By both the report of the ministry and author, highest infection rates were found in 1966-1968, and this fact was considered by the higher infection rate of G.I. in same years. 3. Contrarily, the lowest infection rates were found out in 1970-1971 through both reports.

This paper deals with disparities in course evaluation between general and major courses of mathematics education. We provide concrete evidences which verify the mismanagement of the evaluation system and can be an impetus to a more rational one. We indicate the direction to which professors of mathematics education should head. Also those statistics obtained from the author's teaching of mathematics education and related subjects for twelve years are provided for the fact-finding of and improving the erroneous evaluation system.

Electrospray deposition (ESD) technique is fast finding its applicability in the field of thin film device manufacturing processes and the ease and cost efficiency attached to ESD process with possible integration with batch manufacturing technologies is the potential future of thin film device manufacturing. As the name suggests, the deposition phenomenon should solely be a spray achieved through electrostatic forces. In fact it is an imbalance between the surface forces arising because of the surface tension of the liquid to be sprayed and Maxwell stresses which are induced because of the electric field, that pull the liquid downwards from the capillary into a stable jet which further disintegrates into smaller droplets because of coulomb forces and hence a cloud of charged, mono-dispersed and extremely diminutive (sometimes up to femtolitres) droplets is achieved. The present talk is going to be exclusively about the electrospray process concepts, generation and possible applications.

It is very well known that the natural frequency of an oscillating body on the free surface is determinable only after the added mass is given. However, it is hard to find analytical investigations in which actually the natural frequency is obtained. Difficulties arise from the fact that in order to determine the natural frequency we need to compute the added mass at least for a range of frequencies, and to solve an equation where the frequency is a variable. In this study, first, a formula is obtained for the added mass, and then an equation for finding the natural frequency is defined and solved by Newton's iteration. It is confirmed that the formula shows a good agreement with the results given by Ursell(1949), and the value of natural frequency is reduced by 21.5% compared to the pre-natural frequency, which is obtained without considering the effect of added mass.

The mechanical structures mounted on vehicles or aircrafts are subject to random accelerations, such as earthquakes, at the base, and their responses have been calculated through spectrum analysis. However, this method poses a challenge during the synthesis of the responses owing to the loss of the vibration phase. It is necessary to evaluate the time history results to obtain the exact responses; therefore, an efficient technique is proposed to solve this issue. The present technique involves constructing a superelement using the sub-structuring method and finding solutions for this superelement. The finite element model (FEM) was substituted by a superelement, which was simplified into one element with selected nodes. Comparing the numerical results of the superelement with the time history responses for the original finite element model, the two solutions agree well despite the fact that the computation time of the proposed technique has been greatly shortened.

As the Internet has been spread widely and rapidly in Korea since mid 1990s, the growth of electronic commerce was expected to be so at first. It was generally believed that the Internet and electronic commerce would increase the market efficiency and decrease the asymmetry of information. Electronic commerce seemed to replace the traditional market by lowering price and creating consumer-driven market, The actual situation of market, however, is not. The fact-finding research tells the different result that the amount of B2C electronic commerce in Korea is very small contrary to expectations. This study is for the analysis of low growth of B2C electronic commerce in Korea, and to find solutions.

The ability of 'creative thinking' is one of the most important fact for designers to complete their design process. It is not only the overall concept of the process but also all details related to each steps of the process such as planning product strategies, research, finding ways to solve problems image development, broadening ideas, etc. It is, however, not easy to creative as designers by natural learning through experiences unless they have geniuses for creative designing. Many experienced designers in the field are even in dilemmas being not be able to differentiate from copying other designs. This study is focused on the researches on the works of famous designers, architects and artists who have shown great creativities throw their works or processes. It is aimed to define their ways of thinking which could be fundamental motives for the creativeness, various behavioral methods to solve problems in creative ways, technical approaches to improve creativities, and overall intuition in the design working processes.

Chinese seafarers have begun to be employed by foreign shipowners since 14979. Recognizing the benefits of overseas seafarers employment , Chinese goverment has implemented policy for seafarers' education and supply. Over the past two decades, the goverment has expanded and improved seafarer training facilities. As a result a number of seafarers have been educated, who are now available for employment on Chinese and foreign flag vessels. In 1995, about 20,000 Chinese seafarers served on foregin shipowner's vessels and the total foreign currency they earned was approximately US ＄300 million. This paper aims to describe the education system for Chinese seafarers and the mechanism of Chinese overseas seafarers employment and to highlight main problems occurred in the mechanism of their overseas employment. It takes the fact-finding research method with literature survey and interview.

A finite group G is called (l, m, n)-generated, if it is a quotient group of the triangle group T(l, m, n) = 〈$\chi$, y, z│$\chi$$\^$l/ = y$\^$m/ = z$^n$ = $\chi$yz = 1〉. In [19], the question of finding all triples (l, m, n) such that non-abelian finite simple group are (l, m, n)-generated was posed. In this paper we partially answer this question for the sporadic group Ru. In fact, we prove that if p, q and r are prime divisors of │Ru│, where p < q < r and$.$(p, q) $\neq$ (2, 3), then Ru is (p, q, r)-generated.
