필터여재의 성능평가 (Performance Test of Air Filter Media)

  • Filter media performance was evaluated using monodisperse NaCl particles with Differential Mobility Analyzer and Ultrafine Condensation Particle Counter. Low or medium performance filters show that the most penetrating particles size(MPPS) is around $0.3{\mu}m$ in diameter and is shifted to smaller sizes as the filter face velocity increases. However, HEPA and ULPA filters show MPPS is around $0.15{\mu}m$ in diameter and is also shifted to $0.1{\mu}m$ in diameter as the face velocity increases. In case of electret filter, the MPPS is found around $0.04{\mu}m$ region for Boltzmann charge equilibrium particles. There is a tendency of strong collection efficiency decrease for large particles as the face velocity increases on the contrary to the other filters. One of the medium performance filter efficiency was compared with filtration theory and the good agreetment was found in the experimental range.

Theoretical Study on Magnetic Field Application for Fine Particle Capture

  • Fine particle capture is facing a challenge since traditional filtration which relies on the combination of impaction, interception, diffusion has a limited efficiency for fine particle capture particularly in size from 0.1 to $0.5{\mu}m$. This paper reviewed the collection efficiency of above mechanisms, as well as magnetic mechanisms for ferromagnetic particles, and mainly studied the influencing factors of magnetic filtration. Filtration velocity, magnetic field intensity and fiber size were found to be the most important parameters for magnetic filtration.

저밀도 세라믹 필터의 고온 여과 성능시험에 관한 연구 (A Study on the High Temperature Filtration Performance Test of Low Density Ceramic Filters)

  • Hot gas filtration method via using ceramic filters is an evolving technology applicable to numerous industrial and air pollution control processes. Alumino silicate, organic and inorganic binders were the major raw materials in manufacturing ceramic filters. In this work, disc type ceramic filters(50$\phi$$\times$10t) were manufactured by vacuum forming processes using ceramic raw materials. The porosity and bulk density of disc type ceramic filers ranged from 86 to 89% and from 0.27 to 0.36 g/㎤, respectively. In this work disc type ceramic medium were tested utilizing coupon experimental apparatus. Disc type filters showed high collection efficiencies over 99.96% with Darchs law coefficients of 4.1$\times$10(sup)10~9.63$\times$10(sup)10/$m^2$ depending on mean pore sizes. In addition, filtration and detachment of ceramic filters turned out to be performed effectively using 10 cm/sec face velocity, 5 minutes filtration cycle, 100msec pulse jet valve opening time and 3 bar pulsing pressure.

급속여과공정에서 여과수질 저하원인 및 개선방안 (Cause of Filtrate Deterioration and Its Improvement in Rapid Filtration)

  • Particle removal is an important step taken at water treatment plants (WTPs) for the safety of tap water due to its proportionality to the pathogen inactivation. Government promulgated a treatment technique for the optimization of filtration including continuous turbidity monitoring using on-line turbidimeters. Based on the turbidity measurements of 460 filters at 31 WTPs operated by K-water, the evaluation of filtration performance and the investigation of major causes related to particle breakthrough were explored. 98.1 % of the filters had an effluent turbidity measurement which was less than 0.1 NTU, but turbidity breakthrough of more than 0.3 NTU was noticed occasionally which is in violation of AWWA 5-Star guidelines. It was shown that the optimization of coagulation, filter-to-waste, the observance of optimal filtration velocity and backwashing process based on filtrate turbidity were crucial for the improvement of filtrate.

다공성 필터에서의 여과 분진층 비저항 연구 (Specific Resistance (K2´) of Dust Layer Deposited on Porous Media)

  • In the dust separation by using porous filter media, the structure of dust layer deposited on the filter surface of filter medium directly affects the effective filtration. The present study has investigated the specific resistance (K$_2$') of the dust layer and its porosity ($\varepsilon$$_{c}$) for three different filters; FA composite filter, metal fiber filter and stainless filter. The specific resistance (K$_2$') increased and at the same time the cake porosity ($\varepsilon$$_{c}$) decreased with the increase of filtration velocity, possibly due to the compressible effect of dust layer. However, under the low dust concentration, subsequent dust particles would block the open channels through the layer resulting in high specific resistance of the layer. The FA composite filter among three filters was shown to be the most effective filter for dust cake filtration at low filtration velocities less than 0.1 m/s for an approximate dust concentration of 5 g/㎥.

주름필터를 적용한 CYBAGFILTER®의 여과성능 특성 (Dust Filtration Characteristics of Pleated Filter Bags Installed in CYBAGFILTER®)

  • The filtration characteristics of $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ unit with pleated filter bags were evaluated by comparing the performance of the unit with the lower part of cyclone shape with that of the unit with conventional lower part. Results from the test were also compared with those from the previous research with the $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ in which round filter bags were installed. $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ is the unit which combines the centrifugal separation mechanism and the fabric filtration mechanism in a single unit for efficient removal of particulate matters. The pleated filter bags are made of pleated fabric with an extension of the filtration area about 3 times compared with the conventional round filter bags. The results from the test using pleated filter bags showed an overall collection efficiency of over 99.9% regardless of the shape of lower part installed. When the lower part of cyclone shape was installed, the filter cleaning interval was over 2 times longer compared with that when the conventional lower part was installed. At the same conditions of filtration velocity and filter pressure drop, the $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ with the lower part of cyclone shape, in which the pleated filter bags are installed, can be operated with a flow rate of round 3 times higher than that with conventional round filter bags.

급속여과지(急速濾過池)의 여과속도(濾過速度)와 여재구성(濾材構成)의 연구(硏究) -여과저항(濾過抵抗)을 중심(中心)으로- (A Study on the Velocity, the Grain Size and the Bed Depth of the Rapid Filter)

  • 지금까지 발표되어 있는 여과공정(濾過工程)의 수학적(數學的) 해석(解析)의 결과(結果)는 범용성(汎用性)이 없고 실용적(實用的)으로 이용(利用)될 수 없는 문제점(問題點)이 있었다. 그러나 여과공정(濾過工程)을 수학적(數學的)으로 표현(表現)하는 것은 장치설계상(裝置設計上) 대단히 중요하기 때문에 본논문(本論文)은 급속여과지(急速濾過池)의 여과공정(濾過工程)을 해명(解明)하기 위하여 여층내(濾層內)의 tracer study의 결과(結果)를 정리한 것이다. 따라서 여과공정(濾過工程)을 해명(解明)하기 위해서 최대(最大)의 문제점(問題點)으로 되어 있던 억류물비퇴적량(抑留物比堆積量)을 직접(直接) 파악(把握)하는 것에 의해 Kozeny-Carman 식(式)을 보정(補正)하여 실제에 활용(活用)될 수 있는 미소여층(微小濾層)의 여과지저항식(濾過紙抵抗式)을 유도(誘導)하였다. 또 조지율(阻止率)과 비퇴적량(比堆積量)과의 상관(相關) model을 제안(提案)하고 이것을 이용(利用)해서 여과방정식(濾過方程式)을 풀고 그 값을 유도(誘導)한 여과저항식(濾過抵抗式)에 대입(對入)하여 전여층(全濾層)의 여과저항(濾過抵抗)을 구(求)하고 그 결과(結果)를 도표화(圖表化)함으로서 여과저항식(濾過抵抗式)을 이론(理論)과 실용(實用) 양면(兩面)에 넓게 활용(活用)될 수 있도록 하였다.

응집과 여과를 이용한 조류의 초고속 제어에 관한 연구 (High-rate Removal of Algae by Using of Filtration System with Coagulant Addition)

  • Abundant growth of algae in raw water sources caused by eutrophication brings about significant side effects on water supply, such as taste and order problem, oxygen depletion, toxic material secretion, and filter clogging problem in water treatment process, etc. The purpose of this research is to remove the algae and phosphorus compounds in the Pal-dang reservoir promptly by using the upflow filtration system with coagulant addition. The filter tower consisted of sand media and sieve filter with air back-washing process. By using coagulation and filtration with $132{\mu}m$ pore size filter, about 55% and 70% of algae and phosphorus compounds were removed respectively. The experimental conditions were as follows; head loss of 0.2m, linear velocity of 200m/day, and filtration flux of 1000($L/m^2/day$). In the case of filtration with cartridge type filter of $25{\mu}m$ pore size, the filtration flux was about 7800 LMH, and the removal ratios of COD, SS, T-P, and Chlo-a. were 61%, 99%, 54%, and 98%, respectively. However, high pressure air back-washing process with should be required for the maintenance of such high filtration flux.

도시 소하천에서 유속, 비표면적에 따른 사상형 부착조류의 Chlorophyll-a 변화 (Variation of Filamentous Periphyton Chlorophyll-a in accordance with Water Velocity and Specific Surface Area of Media in Small Urban Stream)

  • The feasibility of water supply as in-stream flow for Mangwall stream was analyzed in terms of water quality and cultivation periphyton using two different types of water resources (e.g., surface water and bank filtration from Han River basin) and three different types of media (e.g., tile, concrete and pebble). The concentrations of organic and inorganic contaminants from the bank filtration were lower than those from surface water by 17.5 - 55.0%. Using water samples collected from Mangwall stream, surface water, and bank filtration, chlorophyll-a, phaeopigment, and growth rate of periphyton were investigated. During 30 day incubation for each water sample, it was observed that filamentous cyanobacteria, Oscillatoriaceae, accounted for 98%, and water velocity of 5 cm/s was optimum for the in situ filamentous cyanobacteria growth. Also, it was deducted for water velocity and chl-a to have an inverse correlation. Meanwhile, the greater the specific surface area of media, the higher the concentration of chl-a. From these results, both water velocity and specific surface area of media should be considered as an combined parameter to deter the growth of filamentous cyanobacteria.

입자의 크기와 유속에 따른 섬유질 여과포에 의한 부유입자 제거 연구 (Removal of Aerosol Through Fibrous Filter as a Function of Particle Size and Velocity)

  • 유리섬유 여과포에 의한 0.1~0.45$\mu\textrm{m}$ 크기의 DOP 부유입자의 제거효율시험을 1~10cm/sec의 유속범위에서 수행하였다. 섬유여과포에 의한 미세입자의 여과는 여과속도에 의하여 결정되는데, 최소제거 효율을 나타내는 DOP 입자의 크기는 여과속도가 증가함에 따라 감소한다. Kuwabara Cell Model과 Von Mises Transformation을 사용하여 유리섬유 여과포내에서 화산에 의한 입자 제거효율을 수치해석적으로 전개하여 구하였으며, 이 계산치는 실험치와 잘 일치하였다. 본 실험의 결과는 여과포의 입자제거효율을 예측하고 최적 운전조건을 추구하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
