  • In case of USA, the drilled shaft and the driven pile in the field showed a good correlation in the analysis of the bearing capacity between the dynamic load test and the static load test. However, in Korea, we mainly install the bored pile, which is not widely used overseas and we tried to confirm the reliability of the dynamic load test on the bored pile, because many people questioned the reliability of it. In this study, load tests were carried out on PHC bored piles in LH field (Cheonan, Incheon, Uijeongbu), and the bearing capacity of the dynamic load test (EOID 7times, Restrike 7times) and the static load test (7times) were compared and analyzed. As a result, the average of the bearing capacity of the static load test was 27% higher than that of the dynamic load test (reliability : 0.73, coefficient of variation : 0.3). And the average of the bearing capacity of the static load test (Davisson) was 27% higher than that of the bearing capacity of the dynamic load test (Davisson) (reliability : 0.73, coefficient of variation : 0.2). To reduce the difference between the bearing capacity of the dynamic load test and the static load test, we proposed modified bearing capacity of dynamic load test (base bearing capacity of EOID + skin frictional force of restrike) and difference between the bearing capacities was reduced to 9% (reliability : 0.91, coefficient of variation : 0.2). And the coefficient of variation was reduced to 0.2 and the consistency of analysis increased.

  • In the present study, a series of static load test and fatigue test were carried out to investigate the behavior of the CRCP. The specimens were sized to 25% of real one lane CRCP. The fatigue tests were carried out for the repetitive load as much as 16%, 39%, 40%, 48%, 59% and 78% of the max. static load for the center or corner loading. Compared the field test with laboratory test for FWD, it is an equpment useful to maintance and manage of the concrete pavements.

  • This paper deals with experimentation on static test of linear induction motor for the propulsion system of UTM(Urban Transit Maglev). It is very important that vertical force zero effects to levitation field of maglev. Because it is continuous for air gap 11mm of levitated maglev vehicle. Then we found the slip frequency that the vertical force zero due to it is variable. Thus we had compared between simulation value and experiment value for lim by static test Jig.

  • In this study, static pile load tests with load transfer measurement were accomplished in the field. Yield pile capacity (or ultimate pile capacity) determined by load-settlement-time relationship was determined and axial load transfer behavior was analyzed. In the test for the four test piles were behaved as end bearing pile but ratios of skin friction to total pile capacity were 27%∼33%.

  • This study tries to test and analyze the static friction torque generated by an electromagnetic clutch. Then the torque is improved by optimizing the shape of armature. For the purpose of design change and optimization of the electromagnetic clutch, the static friction torque prediction is very important. We construct an axi symmetric FEM model for analyzing the static friction torque and used a torque tester for evaluating the real torque. For a test, predicted static friction torque is compared with the experimental one to discuss the rationality of torque analysis process. The analytical result agrees well with experimental data, explaining the validity of the mathematical process and FEM model. After confirming the torque analysis process, the optimization process is investigated. The optimization result shows that the static torque is improved by changing the armature shape.

  • The vertical static stiffness of rail pads or baseplate pads, which are important components in rail fastening systems for track safety, is a key factor to determine the total track stiffness and a guideline of quality control in the manufacturing process. The vertical static stiffness can be checked by laboratory testing: test methods are EN 13146-9 and KRS TR 0014, which are widely used in the railway field. In this paper, to correct some problems, namely the preloading step, the unloading level, and the holding time in the loading program in the vertical static stiffness test of EN 13146-9 and KRS TR 0014, domestic and foreign test standards of pads were analyzed and then certain schemes for a vertical static stiffness test were proposed. To assess the reliability of the proposed schemes, the vertical static stiffness tests were performed with 4 pads and the validity of the test results was estimated.

  • Static electricity in electronics manufacturing plants causes the economic loss, yet it is one of the least understood and least recognized effects haunting the industry today. Today's challenge in semiconductor devices is to achieve greater functional density pattern and to miniaturize electronic systems of being more fragile by electrostatic discharges(ESD) phenomena. As the use of automatic handling equipment for static-sensitive semiconductor components is rapidly increased, most manufacturers need to be more alert to the problem of ESD. One of the most common causes of electrostatic damage is the direct transfer of electrostatic charge from the human body or a charged material to the static-sensitive devices. To evaluate the ESD hazards by charged human body and devices, in this paper, characteristics of electrostatic attenuation in domestic semiconductor devices is investigated and the voltage to cause electronic component failures is investigated by field-induced charged device model(FCDM) tester. The FCDM simulator provides a fast and inexpensive test that faithfully represents ESD hazards in plants. Also the results obtained in this paper can be used for the prevention of semiconductor failure from ESD hazards.

  • In the measurement of atmospheric static electric field, it is important to know characteristics of corona discharges caused at the tip of test electrode. This paper presents the fundamental data of DC corona discharges that occurred at the tip of a needle-shaped electrode placed in the homogeneous background electric field which simulates the atmospheric static field under thundercloud. The major characteristics of interest for this purpose are the polarity effect of corona discharges and the magnitudes and time intervals of corona current pulses. The experimental set-up consists of the plate-to-plate configuration with a needle-shaped protrusion, DC power supply, and voltage and current measuring devices. As a result of experiments, the polarity dependence of corona pulses is significantly pronounced. The time intervals between successive corona pulses in the negative polarity is much longer than those in the positive polarity. The time intervals for both polarities is drastically decreased as the applied electric field is increased. Also the magnitudes of the positive corona pulses are slightly changed with an increase in applied electric field, but those of the negative corona pulses are linearly increased with increasing the applied electric fields.

  • This study consists of static and fatigue tests to evaluate the behavior on the field splice joint of longitudinal rib in orthotropic steel deck specimens. Specifically, static and influence surface tests are performed for the stress distribution at the scallop area and high-strength bolt connection of longitudinal rib to examine the existence of handhole cover plate and the effect of eccentric loads. The ultimate strength of the field splice joint of longitudinal rib is obtained. In fatigue tests, cracks are observed at the scallop in the lower level test and the catastrophic failure of longitudinal rib is occurred following the failure of handhole cover plate in the higher level test. This study gives a basis for the better understanding of the field splice joint of longitudinal rib.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the performance of a static mixer for mixing of biogas and town gas by numerical analysis and demonstration test. The reason for designing a static mixer is that there is a need to mix town gas with biogas when there is less production of biogas in biogas sites. Non-uniformity in the outlet section was calculated for investigating the performance of a static mixer. Non-uniformity was based on the mole fraction of methane in a mixture of biogas and town gas. Low non-uniformity means that biogas and town gas are mixed well through this static mixer. Also, pressure drop at the outlet section of a static mixer was calculated. The pressure drop is less than 0.2% in this static mixer. This static mixer is suitable for applying to a 5MW bio-gas turbine through the demonstration test in the field.
