  • To evaluate the fatigue lifetime of structures, it is necessary to identify the value of parameters through tests or literature. it is difficult for field engineers to get the necessary data through tests from the viewpoint of time and cost. In this study. we surveyed literature and proposed a procedure to identify the fatigue parameters for fatigue life evaluation by local strain approach.

  • The existing method s for curvature estimation have a common problem in determining a unique smoothong factor. we previously proposed two approaches to overcome that problem: a constrained regularization approach and a mean field annealing approach. We consistently detected corners from the perprocessed smooth boundary obtained by either the constrained eglarization approach or the mean field annealing approach. Moreover, we defined corner sharpness to increase the robustness of both approaches. We evaluate the performance of those methods proposed in this paper. In addition, we show some matching results using a two-dimensional Hopfield neural network in the presence of occlusion as a demonstration of the power of our proposed methods.

  • This paper describes the evaluation methods and criteria used verify field performance of automatic multi-coupler for the PMC rolling stock. Automatic multi-coupler was designed and manufactured by KRRI , Woojin electric machinery CO., and Yujinchajeon MFG.CO., LTD in 1999. Through field performance test of PMC rolling stock, vibration, brake system, assembly and disassembly of complex train were measured on the condition of service operation. As a result, test results meet the criteria proposed by KNR and KRRI.

  • This study has its purpose to diversify teaching and evaluation for college mathematics, moreover increasing students loaming ability, who dislike or have lower ability to study. Cooperation, level learning and various evaluation make students better reaction in 1999 first term than in 1996 first term. Also we hope more researches for this field could be syudied.

  • When evaluating the spatial resolution images and evaluation of low contrast resolution using CT standard phantom, and might present a automated quantitative evaluation method for minimizing errors by subjective judgment of the evaluator be, and try to evaluate the usefulness. 120kVp and 250mAs, 10mm collimation, SFOV(scan field of view) of 25cm or more than, exposure conditions DFOV(display field of view) of 25cm, and were evaluated the 24 passing images and 20 failing images taken using a standard reconstruction algorithm by using the Nuclear Associates, Inc. AAPM CT Performance Phantom(Model 76-410). Quantitative evaluation of low contrast resolution and spatial resolution was using an evaluation program that was self-developed using the company Mathwork Matlab(Ver. 7.6. (R2008a)) software. In this study, the results were evaluated using the evaluation program that was self-developed in the evaluation of images using CT standard phantom, it was possible to evaluate an objective numerical qualitative evaluation item. First, if the contrast resolution, if EI is 0.50, 0.51, 0.52, 0.53, as a result of evaluating quantitatively the results were evaluated qualitatively match. Second, if CNR is -0.0018~-0.0010, as a result of evaluating quantitatively the results were evaluated qualitatively match. Third, if the spatial resolution, as a result of using a image segmentation technique, and automatically extract the contour boundary of the hole, as a result of evaluating quantitatively the results were evaluated qualitatively match.

  • In this study, the 3D-QSARs (three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships: CoMFA and CoMSIA) between structural changes of N-phenyl-O-phenylthionocarbamate analogues (1-30) and their fungicidal activities against the capsicum phytophthora (Phyophthora capsici) fungi were analyzed, then considered quantitatively in terms of minimum structural requirements for fungicidal evaluation. The statistical qualities ($r^2_{cv.}$ = 0.510 and $r^2_{ncv.}$ = 0.948) of the optimal CoMFA 1 model are improved over the other models in the conditions of field combinations, and the two alignments. In the optimal CoMFA 1 model, relative contribution percentages of the CoMFA field were: steric field, 52.3%; electrostatic field, 37.8%; hydrophobic field, 9.9%. Results were similar for the CoMFA 2 model. Therefore, the steric field of the analogues had the highest contribution ratio for fungicidal activity. Specifically, with the contour map of steric fields, the fungicidal activity increased when bulky steric Y-substituents were introduced to the meta-position on the N-phenyl ring and small steric Y-subsituents were introduced to its para-position.

  • Currently serious conflicts of interests are arisen for the use of coastal area in Korea. However, there no mediation program, mediators' consistent policies and reasonable laws to resolve conflict of interests which may be arisen when developing coastal area. The objective of this study is to lay the evaluation criteria for the formalized objective evaluation among disputants of coastal conflicts for the better understanding and characterizing of coastal conflicts in Korea. In order to do so, this study has adopted for the extraction of the evaluation factors to describe the present conditions of conflicts in the selected study area(Sihwa lake), to analyze the problems, and then to explore alternative approaches for resolving the conflicts. As research methodologies, we have depended upon literature review and field survey methods. As field survey methods, we employed structured questionnaires for the various samples from the experts of research institutes, professors, representatives of NGOs and citizens. Survey results suggested that 5 representative elements comprising 35 detailed elements could be identified. Based on these results, this study was able to identify and classify the evaluation factors and help to resolve coastal conflicts in Korea.

  • This study is firstly aiming at diagnosing the present problems of evaluating the performance, especially in the field of disaster and safety management, of LGA (Local Government Authorities) in Korea. The study also deals with developing alternatives to solve a series of barrier factors revealed during the evaluation process using System Dynamics. This paper therefore presents literature review including the official documents published by the government and the performance evaluation studies of LGA. Moreover the authors analyze the current practice of the CELG (Combined Evaluation of Local Governments) as performance management, address and map a series of barrier factors in the CELG process to elaborate the CLDs (Causal-Loop Diagrams) and find solutions using system thinking with the CLDs. According to the analysis results, the core barrier factors to overcome is lack of proactive indicators/indices in the current practice of the CLEG. The authors therefore recommend to develop more proactive indicators that leads to avoid difficulties in measuring the LGA output, as well as to lessen the burden in competition for rankings and goal of the displaced.
