Analysis on the Quench Characteristics According to Magnetic Field of the Matrix-Type SFCL with $1{\times}3$ Matrix Structure ($1{\times}3$ 행렬구조를 갖는 매트릭스형 초전도 한류기의 자장유무에 따른 퀜치특성 분석)

  • We investigated the quench characteristics accordance with increase of turns and applied voltage of matrix-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with $1{\times}3$ matrixes. The matrix-type SFCL consists of the trigger part to apply magnetic field and the current-limiting part to limit fault current. The fault current limiting characteristics according to the increase of magnetic field and applied voltage were nearly same. This is because the application of magnetic field has not an affect on total impedance of SFCL. When number of turns of reactor increased, the voltage difference between two superconducting units in the current-limiting part according was decreased. The resistance difference generated in two superconducting units also was decreased. Therefore, we confirmed that the differences of critical behaviors between superconducting units by application of magnetic field were decreased. By this results, we could be decided the optimum number of turns of reactor to apply magnetic field.

Variation of the Representation Ellipsoid for Refractive Index of Bi12GeO20Single Crystal by an Electric Field (전기장에 의한 Bi12GeO20 단결정의 굴절률 표시타원체의 변형)

  • We derived a formula which can calculate the space distribution of refractive index variation by an applied electric field about Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ single crystal. Stereographic projection maps of refractive index variation by an applied electric field were made out using numerical value to be calculated by this formula. By the calculated results, since an electric field had applied to [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction of Bi$_{12}$ GeO$_{20}$ crystal, positive variation of the refractive index of [(equation omitted) 1 1] direction and [1 (equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The incremented refractive index per unit electric field was +3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$. Since an electric field had applied to [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction, negative variation of the refractive index of [1 1 1] direction and [(equation omitted) 1] direction was the largest. The decremented refractive index per unit electric field was -3.2410${\times}$10$^{-11}$ V$^{-1}$ for the wavelength of 6328 $\AA$.

  • Amorphous chalcogenide glasses have a wide variety of light-induced effects. In this study, we have investigated the diffraction efficiency of chalcogenide. As$_{40}$ Ge$_{10}$ Se$_{15}$ S$_{35}$ thin films by the various applied electric fields. The holographic grating in these thin films has been formed using a linearly polarized He-Ne laser light (633nm). The diffraction efficiency was investigated the two method of applied electric field in the perpendicular and parallel to the direction of inducing beam. We obtained that properties of diffraction efficiency in the two methods of applied electric field. The result is shown that the diffraction efficiency of parallel electric field is 285% increase, η=1.1$\times$10$^{-3}$ and the diffraction efficiency of perpendicular electric field is 80% decrease, η=9.83$\times$10$^{-5}$ . Also, we have investigated the anisotropy property on chalcogenide thin films by the electric field effects.

  • Disturbance/vibration reduction is critical in many applications using machine vision. The off-focusing or blurring error caused by vibration degrades the machine performance. In line with this, real-time disturbance estimation and avoidance are proposed in this study instead of going with a more familiar approach, such as the vibration absorber. The instantaneous motion caused by the disturbance is sensed by an attitude heading reference system module. A periodic vibration modeling is conducted to provide a better performance. The algorithm for vibration avoidance is described according to the vibration modeling. The vibration occurrence function is also proposed, and its parameters are determined using the genetic algorithm. The proposed algorithm is experimentally tested for its effectiveness in the vision inspection system.

  • A high speed motor has been generating a lot of attention due to its performance-more light, thin, short, compact than ordinary motors. But they have low efficiency with high frequency power source because of the iron losses which may produce too much heat as well as the copper losses occurred in the rotor windings. The Halbach array can generate the strong magnetic field systems without additional magnetic materials, therefore the iron losses can be removed. In this paper, the Halbach array is applied to the field system for the high speed motor, and three dimensional FEM is used to analyze the field of the Halbach array considering with the leakage flux. The measured values of flux density are also compared with the FEM analysis. And the magnetic characteristics of the Halbach array field system are compared with those of the conventional field systems such as slot-iron type, PM-iron type. Consequently, it is confirmed that the Halbach array field system is more suitable to the high speed motor because it has high flux density, sinusoidal flux distribution than others.

  • This paper deals with the distribution characteristics of the current density and axial magnetic flux density on the vacuum interrupter with axial magnetic field type using 3 dimension finite element analysis. An axial magnetic field parallel to the current flow in the arc column can improve the current breaking capacity of vacuum interrupter by affecting the arc mode. The axial magnetic flux density on the contact electrode surface is analyzed by inputting external current as a function of the transient time for sine half wave. And it also is analyzed within the gap distance of the contact electrode. The peak value of current but is decreased with the descending current on the contact electrode surface and within the gap distance of the contact electrode. The residual magnetic field is generated on the contact electrode surface and within the gap distance in the instant of zero current, which is due to the influence of eddy currents. The phase shift due to eddy currents, defined as time difference between the maximum value of current and axial magnetic field, is about 1ms in the center point of gap distance.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the extent of difficulties experienced by facilitators in the rural field forum and to derive a theoretical model for improving the satisfaction of facilitators in the rural field forum. Based on grounded theory, qualitative analysis used data collected through individual in-depth interviews with 10 facilitators who are working at the rural field forum. This collected data was analyzed using the Nvivo 11 program. Using a derived theoretical model, the result of analyzing the difficulties experienced by facilitators in the rural field forum showed the core phenomenon identified as difficulties on-site the forum. There was a clarification of the issues regarding improvement of their labour conditions in order to solve the difficulties on-site the forum. The issues towards improving labour conditions were low allowance, equal assignment, guaranteed four major insurances and so on. The facilitators have been trying to activate the rural field forum by promoting their own capacity through the cooperation between colleagues, post training, seminars, and conferences.

  • This paper presents the DOD (Drop-On-Demand) characteristic using the electrostatic field induced inkjet printing system. In order to achieve the DOD characteristic of electrostatic field induced inkjet printing, applied the bias voltage of 1.4 kV and the pulse voltage of $2.0\;kV\;{\sim}\;2.7\;kV$ using high voltage pulse generator. Electrostatic field induced droplet ejection is directly observed using a high-speed camera and for investigated DOD characteristic, CNT ink used. The electrostatic field induced inkjet head system has DOD characteristic using pulse generator which can be applied pulse voltage. The bias voltage has a good condition which form meniscus and has micro dripping mode for small size micro droplet. Also, the droplet size decreases with increasing the applied pulse voltage. This paper shows DOD characteristic at electrostatic field induced inkjet head system, Therefore. electrostatic DOD inkjet head system will be applied industrial area comparing conventional electrostatic inkjet head system.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and field emission of carbon nanotube field emitters for a micro mass spectrometer. The carbon nanotube is an adequate material as a field emitter since it has good characteristics. We have successfully fabricated a diode field emitter and a triode field emitter. Each field emitter has been constructed using several micromachining processes and a thermal CVD process. In the case of the diode field emitter, to increase the electric field, the carbon nanotubes are selectively grown on the patterned nickel catalyst layer. The electron current of the diode field emitter is 73.2 ${\mu}A$ when the anode voltage is 1100V. That of the triode field emitter is 3.4 pA when the anode voltage is 1000V.

  • The flow field around four cylinders for various angles was investigated utilizing particle image velocimetry(PIV) technique. Flow field was recorded by video camera first. Then application of PIV technique was done to the flow field. The results turned out to be useful to analyze complex flow field around multiple cylinders.
