  • This paper deals with optimal fibre orientations of symmetrically laminated fibre reinforced composite structures for maximising the fundamental frequency of small-amplitude. A set of fiber orientation angles in the layers are considered as design variable. The Modified Feasible Direction method is used in order to obtain the optimal designs. The effects of number of layers, boundary conditions, laminate thicknesses, aspect ratios and in-plane loads on the optimal designs are studied.

  • Let X be a p-compace groyp, Y -> X bd a p-compact-subgroup of X and G -> X be a p-compact toral subgroup of X with $(X/Y)^{hG} \neq 0$. In this paper we show that the homotopy fixed point set of the homotopy fibre $(X/Y)^{hG}$ is $F_p$-finite.

  • The silk fibre Produced by the larvae of the lepidopter of the Bombyx mori species is no doubt one of the most precious raw materials employed in manufacturing textile products. The present report, however, deals with silk not as a traditional textile fibre, but as a starting material fer biomedical applications. In recent years, the unique chemical and mechanical properties of silk have made this protein polymer highly attractive for innovative applications, which mainly focus on the development of devices for biomedical uses. • Although fibre reactive dyes for wool were developed before those for cellulosic fibres, there are still limited ranges of fibre reactive dyes available for wool compared to those for cellulosic fbres. Since Fujioka and Abeta introduced the first mixed bifunctional reactive system in the early 1980s for cellulosic fibres, there has been some works on cotton and on silk. (omitted)

  • Fibre to the home (FTTH) in KOREA has grown rapidly in recent years. The number of FTTH subscribers exceeded 6.6 millions by end of DEC 2008. It seems that FTTH has moved from the initial, the growth stage to the mature stage. Some design techniques have been developed in order to construct the access network effectively for the mature stage. This paper deal with design, construction and maintenance of optical fibre access networks immediately, effectively and economically.

  • Brillouin time-domain analysis in optical fibres is a novel technique making possible a distributed measurement of temperature and strain over long distance and will deeply modify our view about monitoring large structures, such as dams, bridges, tunnels and pipelines, Optical fibre sensing will certainly be a decisive tool for securing dangerous installations and detecting environmental and industrial threats.

  • In this paper, we study the infinitesimal transformation on the fibred Riemannian space. The conharmonic curvature tensor is invariant under the conharmonic transformation. We have proved that the conharmonically flat fibred Riemannian space with totally geodesic fibre is locally the Riemannian product of the base space and a fibre.

  • The mode spot size is a fundamental parameter of a single mode optical fibre which determines especially the spilces and the microbending loss. The spot-size measurement is recognised to be a useful mean to define the cut-off wavelength of single-mode fibres, ESI parameters and to predict the modal dispersion. To determine the ESI parameters, this paper is based on the use of a Ronchi ruling.
