  • The use of steel fiber reinforced to improve the strength and flexural toughness of concrete is well known, but reinforcement of polymer concrete with steel fibers has been hardly reported till now. Polymer concrete has high strength, durability and freeze-thaw resistance than that of cement concrete, but it has disadvantage such as low flexural toughness. In this paper, the strength characteristics and flexural toughness of steel fiber reinforced polymer concrete are investigated experimentally with various steel fiber aspect ratios($\ell$/d), and contents(vol.%). As the result, the flexural and splitting tensile strengths and flexural toughness were increased aspect ratio, and reach the maximums at a aspect ratio of 50. The relationship between the compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strength were high. And the relationship between flexural strength and strain energy was approximately linear.

  • In this study an innovative method of earthquake-resistant strengthening of reinforced concrete structures is presented for the first time. Strengthening according to this new method consists of the construction of steel fiber high-strength concrete jackets without conventional reinforcement which is usually applied in the construction of conventional reinforced concrete jackets (i.e., longitudinal reinforcement, stirrups, hoops). The proposed in this study innovative steel fiber high-strength or ultra high-strength concrete jackets were proved to be much more effective than the reinforced concrete jackets and the FRP-jackets when used for the earthquake-resistant strengthening of reinforced concrete structural members.

  • This paper is an experimental study on the flexural strength and ductility capacity of reinforced high performance concrete beams with the concrete which has compressive strength of 600~700kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, slump value of 20~25cm and slump-flow value of 60~70cm. Total 8 beams with different tensile reinforcement ratio and pattern of loading were tested. Form the results of reinforced high performance concrete beams, the equivalent stress block parameters proposed by MacGregor et al. or New Zealand code are recommended to use. Also, an extreme fiber concrete compressive strain of reinforced high performance concrete beams are distributed 0.0033~0.0048. In reinforced high performance concrete beams, reinforcement ratio in order to insure curvature ductility index 2 and 4 propose by ACI code should be less than those of reinforced normal strength concrete beams.

  • This study reports on the structural characteristics of slab-column connections using an ultra-high-strength-fiber-reinforced concrete. Compression tests were performed on two slab-column and four isolated column specimens. During the column load tests were performing on the slab-column specimens, the slab loads were also applied to consider actual confinement condition at the slab-column joint. The main parameter investigated was the ' puddling ' of ultra-high-strength-fiber-reinforced concrete. This paper also investigates the effects of some parameters on slab-column specimens and isolated column specimens without the surrounding slab for their ability to transmit axial loads from the ultra-high-strength concrete columns through slab-column connections. The beneficial effects of the ultra-high-strength-fiber-reinforced concrete puddling on the transmission of column loads through slab-column connections are demonstrated.

  • At the present, the mechanized form roads pavement was constructed with plain concrete. Mostly, it was used by welded wire mesh for preventing crack. Cellulose fibers for the reinforcement of concrete offer relatively high levels of elastic modulus, fiber count (per unit weight), specific surface, and bond strength to cement-based materials. The construction of concrete pavement confirmed that cellulose fiber reinforced concrete was applicable to mechanized form roads pavement. In the study, cellulose fibers were used here at 0.08 % volume fraction, which is equivalent to a fiber content of $1.2kg/m^3$. Cellulose fiber reinforced concrete were compared with plain concrete. Field test results indicated that cellulose fiber reinforced concrete showed slightly to increase of 28 days compressive strength and improved the initial strength. it tended to increase of splitting tensile strength. Test results showed that the slump and air content tend to decreased. but, the variation of air contends is very little. Also, construction cost of cellulose fiber reinforced concrete is less than about 25.7 % the case of welded wire mesh previously used. Therefore, The cost reduction is expected to be possible in construction site by mechanized form roads pavement.

  • In this study a new innovative method of earthquake-resistant strengthening of reinforced concrete structures is presented for the first time. Strengthening according to this new method consists of the construction of steel fiber ultra-high-strength concrete jackets without conventional reinforcement which is usually applied in the construction of conventional reinforced concrete jackets. An innovative solution is proposed also for the first time that ensures a satisfactory seismic performance of existing reinforced concrete structures, strengthened by using composite materials. The weak point of the use of such materials in repairing and strengthening of old R/C structures is the area of beam-column joints. According to the proposed solution, the joints can be strengthened with a steel fiber ultra-high-strength concrete jacket, while strengthening of columns can be achieved by using CFRPs. The experimental results showed that the performance of the subassemblage strengthened with the proposed mixed solution was much better than that of the subassemblage retrofitted completely with CFRPs.

  • Recently, with the increase in the construction of ultra-high buildings and long-span structures, there is great demand for high-strength concrete which can reduce the structural weight and thickness of member sections. While developing high-strength concrete to meet performance requirements, certain issues at the design stage must also be considered. The issues include diseconomy from a great amount of per-unit cement, spalling failure by fire at ultra-high building, autogenous shrinkage caused by increased hydration activity of binder from use of a superplasticizer. Therefore, the purpose of this study is examined the strain characteristics of Fiber-reinforced-high-strength concrete(FRHSC), which differ from those of general concrete owing to autogenous shrinkage. Based on the experimental data, we proposed an autogenous shrinkage prediction model.

  • The reinforced concrete(RC) beam is developed cracks because the compression strength of concrete is strong but the tensile strength is weak. The structural strength and stiffness is decreased by reduction of tension resistance capacity of concrete due to the developed cracks. Using the fiber reinforced concrete that is increased the flexural strength and tensile strength at tensile part can enhance the strength and stiffness of concrete structure and decrease the tensile flexural cracks and deflection. Therefore, The reinforced concrete used the fiber reinforced concrete at tensile part ensure the safety and serviceability of the concrete structures. In this study, analytical model of a dual concrete beam that is composed of the normal strength concrete at compression part and the high tensile strength concrete at tensile part is developed by using the equilibrium condition of forces and compatibility condition of strains and is parted into elastic analytical model and ultimate analytical model. Three group of test beam that is formed of one reinforced concrete beam and two dual concrete beams for each steel reinforcement ratio is tested to examine the flexural behavior of dual concrete beams. The comparative study of total nine test beams is shown that the ultimate load of a dual concrete beams relative to the reinforced concrete beams have an increase in approximately 30%. In addition, the initial flexural rigidity, as used here, refer to the slope of load-deflection curves in elastic state is increased and the deflection is decreased.

  • This study is on the strength capacity and the strengthening effects of crarbon fiber sheets(CFS) and glass fiber sheets (GFS) on steel reinforced concrete(SRC) beams. SRC beams are often used on high-rise building construction to save story height and construction cost. However, there are no strengthening design code in Korea and most engineers design it as steel beams ignored the composite effect if reinforced concrete. Test results on steel reinforced concrete beams reveal thar the strength capacity of SRC beam is more than simple addition of steel and reinforced concrete beams. In case of steel reinforced concrete beams, ultimate moment capacity of strengthening beam of carbon fiber sheets is 120% of non-strengthening one.
