  • 3D micro scaled shapes are fabricated with the method of direct writing and superposing grooving in ambient air using femto-second laser pulses and copper, aiming at establishing an industrially useful femto-second laser processing machine to be able to fabricate three dimensional micro-scale structures, especially micro scaled molds, and processing techniques. For the several advantages, there is no thermally influenced region around the area irradiated by the laser beam and surfaces irradiated laser beam are smooth and substances ablated to form are no attached on the surface of works and so on, the femto-second laser technology is anticipated for advanced micro/nano precision technology.

펨토초 레이저를 이용한 평판 디스플레이 유리기판 절단 연구 (Femto-Second Laser Glass Cutting for Flat Panel Display)

  • A laser glass cutting system using a femto-second laser was evaluated for Flat Panel Display (FPD) glass. A theoretical analysis of the ablation threshold and depth is described using an explicit analytic form. Experiments for clean and deep grooves were performed using a 3W femto-second laser, and the relationships between the input energy and the scribing depth as well as the threshold energy are presented. Mechanical breaking after the scribing process was carried out and the results are compared with a theoretical method. It was found that a two-sided LCD panel glass can be cut clearly using the laser cutting method. The methodology was found to be very effective as a mass-production cutting system.

  • 펨토초 레이저 주입잠금법을 이용하여 펨토초 광주파수 벗에서 특정한 주파수 모드를 선택하고 증폭시켰다. 실험에서는 모드 잠금된 Ti:sapphire레이저를 지배 레이저로 그리고 단일모드로 발진하는 반도체 레이저를 종속 레이저로 사용하였다. 모드 잠금된 Ti:sapphire레이저를 중심파장 794.7 nm, 밴드 폭 1.5 nm의 간섭필터를 통과한 후 반도체 레이저에 주입잠금시켰다. 주입잠금된 반도체 레이저가 모드 잠금된Ti:sapphire레이저의 펄스 반복율과 일치하는 100.5 MHz간격의 모드 $3{\sim}4$개가 동시에 발진되는 것 확인할 수 있었다. 펨토초 레이저 주입잠금법에 의해서 선택된 모드의 출력을 수천 배 증폭시킬 수 있었다.

펨토초 레이저의 이송속도에 따른 Invar 합금의 어블레이션 특성 (Characteristics of the Femto-second Pulsed Laser Ablation according to Feed Velocity on the Invar Alloy)

  • Femto-second laser ablation with the various feed velocities of the Invar alloy and the micro surface milling for the processing condition were studied. We used a regenerative amplified Ti:sapphire laser with a 1kHz repetition rate, 184fs pulse duration time and 785nm wavelength. Femto-second laser pulse was irradiated on the Invar alloy with the air blowing at the condition of various laser peak powers and feed velocities. An ablation characteristic according to feed velocity of the Invar alloy was appeared as the non-linear type at different zone of energy fluence. The micro surface milling of the Invar alloy using a mapping method was investigated. The optimal condition of micro surface milling was laser peak power of 22.8mW, feed velocity of 1 mm/s, beam gap of $1{\mu}m$. With the optimal processing condition, the fine rectangular shape without burr and thermal damage was achieved. Using the femto-second laser system, it demonstrates excellent tool for micro surface milling of the Invar alloy without heat effects and poor edge.

  • The miniaturization technologies are perceived as potential key technologies of the future. They will bring about completely different ways in which people and machines interact with the physical world. However, at the present time, the primary technologies used fur miniaturization are dependent on the microelectronic fabrication techniques. The principal shortcomings associated with such techniques are related to the inability of to produce arbitrary three-dimensional features not only in electronics but also in a wide range of metallic materials. In this paper, a ultramicro-stereolithography system assisted with a femto-second laser was developed to fabricate the arbitrary three-dimensional nano/micro-scaled features. In the developed process, a femto-second laser is projected according to CAD data on a photosensitive monomer resin, it induces polymerization of the liquid resin. After the polymerization, a droplet of ethanol is dropped to remove the liquid resin and then the polymerized nano-scaled features only remain. By a newly developed process, miniature devices for an extremely wide range of applications would become a technologically feasible reality. Some of nano/micro-scaled features as examples were fabricated to prove the usefulness of this study at the fundamental stage.

  • 본 논문에서는 인체에 무해하며 고분해능의 단층영상과 저가격 및 소형으로 제작이 가능하여 전세계적으로 많은 연구가 진행중인 광영상 단층촬영기(Optical coherence tomography system : OCT)의 분해능 향상에 관한 것이다. 고분해능 단층영상을 얻기 위하여 펨토초 레이저를 이용한 OCT 시스템을 구성하였다. 펨토초레이저의 펄스폭을 측정하기 위하여 자체상관법(Autocorrelator function)를 이용하여 펄스폭을 측정하였으며, 이론식과 기준시편을 이용한 측정으로 실제 분해능을 측정하였다. 또한 SLD(superluminescent diode) 광원과의 비교분석을 통해 분해능이 약 1.5배 향상됨을 확인하였으며 단층영상 비교의 경우 보다 선명한 단층영상을 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 DC 전압에 따른 테라헤르츠 전자기 펄스의 변화를 측정하였다. 펨토초(femto-second)로 여기 되는 레이저 펄스를 transmitter chip에 입사시키고, 두 개의 transmission line에 DC 전압을 최소 5 Volt에서 최대 90 Volt 까지 변화시켜 테라헤르츠 전자기 펄스의 크기와 스팩트럼의 변화를 관찰하였다. 전압이 증가할수록 상대적으로 스펙트럼의 크기가 고주파 쪽으로 증가되었으며, 신호 대 잡음비(SNR) 역시 250:1에서 10,000:1로 개선 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Femto Second Laser Pulse에 의한 유리의 결정화 및 기계적 특성 (Mechanical Property and Crystallization of Glass by Femtosecond Laser Pulses)

  • Generally, the strength achieved of glass-ceramics is higher as is the fracture toughness, as compared with the original glass. This improvement is due to the microstructure consisting of very small crystals. In this study, Ag-doped $45SiO_2-24CaO-24Na_2O-4P_2O_5$ glasses were irradiated to strengthen by the crystallization using Femto second laser Pulses. Through the UV/VIS spectroscope, XRD, Nano-indenter and SEM etc., heat-treated and irradiation of laser pulses without heat-treated samples were analyzed. Two kinds of samples, heat-treated and laser irradiated without heat-treated samples, showed the peaks in the same wavelength near 360 nm. Especially, samples irradiated by 140 mW laser with XYZ stage having at the rate of 100$\~$l000 $\mu$m/s had the largest absorption peak among them, and heat-treated samples was shown lower absorption range than over 90 mW laser irradiated samples. Moreover, samples irradiated by laser had higher values ($4.4\~4.56{\times}10^{-3}(Pa)$) of elastic modulus which related with strength of glass than values of heat-treated samples and these are 1.2$\~$1 .5 times higher values than them of mother glass.
