액체로켓 기체공급계의 추진제 진동특성 및 제어기술 동향 (Review of Propellant Vibration and Control of Liquid Rocket Fuselage Feeding System)

  • 액체로켓 기체공급계는 추진제를 요구되는 유량, 온도, 압력으로 엔진에 공급하여야 한다. 이를 위한 정상상태의 공급특성은 기존의 열역학 및 열전달, 유체역학 이론을 적용하여 해석하며 방법론이 잘 정립되어 있다. 발사체의 비행 중에 발생하는 탱크와 공급배관에서의 추진제의 진동은 정상상태의 공급특성을 변하게 하며 추진제공급 요구조건을 만족시키지 못하게 한다. 이러한 진동을 발생시키는 것으로서 발사체의 가속도로 인한 슬로싱 및 엔진의 추력섭동에 의해 배관 내 추진제가 진동하는 포고 불안정이 있다. 포고와 슬로싱에 의한 발사체 제어와 구조측면에서 미치는 영향에 대해서는 기존에 많은 연구가 있으나 추진제 공급특성에 미치는 영향에 대해서는 잘 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 추진제의 진동이 엔진으로의 추진제 공급에 미치는 영향을 기존 자료를 이용하여 살펴보고 진동을 제어하기 위한 기구를 살펴본다.

Development of a Bio-mimetic Entertainment Robot with Autonomous Feeding Functionality

  • Most of the recently developed robots are human friendly robots which imitate an animal or human such as entertainment robot, bio-mimetic robot and humanoid robot. Interest in these robots are increasing since the social trend is focused on health, welfare, and graying. By these social backgrounds, robots become more human friendly and suitable for home or personal environment. The more bio-mimetic robots resemble living creature, the more human feels familiarity. People feel close friendship not only when they feed a pet, but also when they watch a pet having the food. Most of entertainment robots and pet robots use internal-type batteries and have a self-recharging function. Entertainment robots and pet robots with internal-type batteries are not able to operate during charging the battery. So far there have been a few robots that do not depend on a battery. However, they need a bulky energy conversion unit and a slug or foods as an energy source, which is not suitable for home or personal application. In this paper, we introduce a new bio-mimetic entertainment robot with autonomous feeding functionality, called ELIRO-1(Eating LIzard RObot version 1). The ELIRO-1 is able to find a food (a small battery), feed by itself and evacuate. We describe the design concept of the autonomous feeding mechanism of the ELIRO-1, characteristics of sub-parts of the manufactured mechanism and the control system.

  • Seam seal welding on the semi-conductor package is a process for sealing the packages of semiconductors, crystal parts, saw filters, oscillators with lid plate by seam welding. 수온 변동 자극이 양식 넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus의 비특이적 생체 방어에 미치는 영향 (Effects of stress induced by changes of water temperature on the non-specific defense mechanism in cultured olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • This study was performed to know the effects of stress induced by the daily fluctuation of water temperture from 18$^{\circ}C$ to 25$^{\circ}C$ up and down for 30 days on the defence mechanism of olive flounder. Puralichthys olivaceus. To make clear the temperature stress on the defense mechanism of the tested fish. several factors of immune response such as counting of leucocyte appearance in peripheral blood, phagocytic activity in whole blood cells, nitroblue tetrazolium(NBT) reduction, chemiluminescence(CL) response, and lysozyme activity were investigated at 28 days after giving the change of water temperature. The fish was controlled under the none feeding condition during experimental period. Mortality of the tested fish was rapidly increased up to 22% within the first one week of the experimental period without any additional stress factors. The number of neutrophil of peripheral blood in the tested group was significantly higher than the control group at the 2nd week. but the number of lymphocyte was significantly lower than the control group at the 1st and 3rd day of the experimental period. respectively. In the NBT reduction test, the activity of macrophage in the control group fish was the highest on the 7th day while that in the tested group was on the 3rd day. Also. the phagocytosis of tested group against formalin killed cells was retarded compared with the control. CL response of the tested group was significantly lower from 2nd to 5lh day of the experimental period than the control. 'The lysozyme activity of tested group was remained higher during the experimental period than the control. Even though the tested fish showed different results in some non-specific factors of immune respceses between tested and control group fish, olive flounder seems highly adaptable in repealed water temperature change in condition after one week under the given temperature fluctuation range.

  • Up to now, various continuous-processing systems are used in the various industrial applications such as textile machines, iron-manufacturing plants, paper-making machines, printing machines, and so on. In these applications, the tension forced on the products in the control volume can be changed according to the velocity difference between the feeding roll and the delivery roll. 필수아미노산 결핍에 의한 섭식반응과 Methionine 결핍이 흰쥐의 뇌내 c-fos 발현에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Essential Amino Acid Deficient Diets in Feeding Response and c-fos Expression in Rats Brain in Response to Methionine Deficiency)

  • 본 시험은 각각의 필수아미노산 결핍사료 섭취에 의한 단기간의 섭식반응과 methionine 결핍(-Met) 사료 섭취시 뇌내 각 부위에 나타나는 Fos 면역반응을 조사하여 아미노산 결핍이 뇌내 섭식반응과 관련있는 부위를 명확히 알고자 수행하였다. 실험사료의 단백질원은 정제아미노산을 이용하였다. 시험에 이용된 모든 사료의 질소원은 순수 아미노산 혼합물을 이용하였으며, 사료내 단백질 함량은 15%로 하였다. 사료는 하루 6시간 동안 섭취하도록 적응을 시켰으며(17:00${\sim}$21:00, meal feeding method), 사료섭취량과 증체량은 사료급여 7일째부터 매시간 측정하였다. 실험 1에서는 각 필수아미노산 결핍사료가 사료섭취량, 체중 변화 및 섭식패턴에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였고, 실험 2에서는 Fos 면역조직 화학적 방법을 사용하여 methio- nine 결핍사료에 대하여 회피 반응을 나타내는 동안에 활성을 보이는 뇌의 영역을 확인하였다. 각 필수아미노산 결핍사료 섭취에 따른 초기 섭식 억제 정도는 methionine이 가장 강하게 나타난 반면 threonine이 가장 약하였다. 결핍사료 급여 3일째의 사료섭취량은 대조구 사료에 비하여 histidine(71%), leucine(68%), isoleucine (66%), threonine(63%), tryptophan(61%), valine (55%), phenylalanine(52%), methionine(51%), lysine(44%), arginine(24%) 순으로 억제되었다. 뇌 신경 영역에 Fos 면역활성은 PPC, amygdala 및 endopyriform cortex(EPC) 부분이 대조구에 비하여 강한 활성을 나타냈으나, LH, VMH 및 PVM에서는 대조구와 처리구가 비슷하게 나타냈다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과로 미루어 뇌내 PPC는 필수아미노산 결핍에 반응하는 초기 인식부위라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Anti-Obesity Drugs: A Current Research Insight

  • Obesity is increasing worldwide and has become a major health burden in Western societies affecting every third American and every fifth European. Obesity makes a major contribution to morbidity and mortality, predisposing individuals to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Many new substances are currently being investigated for their usefulness in the pharmacotherapy of obesity. Most anti-obesity drugs can be divided into four groups: those that reduce food intake; those that alter metabolism; those that increase thermogenesis; and those that regulate hormone involved in feeding behavior. In this article we review these and other agents available in various countries for the treatment of obesity. Perhaps more importantly, we have focussed on areas of potential productivity in the future. Over the last 5 or so years, this impetus in obesity research has provided us with exciting new drugs targets involved in the regulation of feeding behavior and cellular mechanism involved in energy expenditure. Recent development in the quest for control of human obesity include the discovery of hormones, neuropeptides, receptors and transcription factors involved in feeding behavior, metabolic rate and adipocyte development. For developing new, perhaps even more specific pharmacological agents, further research is needed to understand the individual different genetic and physiological basis of obesity. It remains the hope of research scientists that in the not too distant future we shall see a new class of anti-obesity drugs arising logically from the molecular biology revolutions.

성장기 암컷 쥐에서 Arginine 첨가가 골밀도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Arginine Supplementation on Bone Mineral Density in Growing Female Rats)

  • The aim of this study was to define an arginine effect when added to a diet. The influence of arginine supplements on bone mineral density and content were studied in young female Sprague-Dawley rats fed either an arginine supplemented diet or control diet. Twenty four rats (body weight $83{\pm}5g$) were randomly assigned to one of two groups, consuming casein or casein with supplemented arginine diet. All rats were fed on experimental diet and deionized water ad libitum for 9 weeks. Bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC) were measured using PIXImus (GE Lunar Co, Wisconsin, USA) in spine and femur 3, 6, and 9 weeks after feeding. The serum and urine concentrations of Ca and P were determined. Diet did not affect weight gain and mean food intake. The serum concentration of Ca and P were not changed by arginine supplementation. Urinary Ca excretion was significantly decreased by arginine supplementation. Spine BMD was significantly increased by arginine supplementation on 3 and 6 weeks after feeding. Femur BMD was significantly increased in the group of arginine supplementation on 3, 6, and 9 weeks. Rats fed the arginine-supplemented diet had better bone mineral content than did control diet rats in the experimental period. Therefore, arginine supplementation may be beneficial on spine and femur BMD increment in growing female rats. These are thought to be associated with an arginine-induced growth hormone release. The exact mechanism of this effect remains to be elucidated.

PaperMill - 박막과 마이크로 엔드밀을 사용한 적층조형 시스템 (PaperMill - A Layered Manufacturing System Using Lamination and Micro Endmill)

  • A new Layered Manufacturing(LM) system, named PaperMill, is developed applying micro milling technology. A micro endmill(127 11m in diameter) is introduced as the cutter of build material. The selected build material for this system is an adhesive-coated paper roll which provides advantages such as good bonding between layers, machinability, and low material cost. A 3-axis CNC controller and three step-motors are used for the movement of X-Y-Z table of the system. For simplicity of the control of mechanism, the control system for feeding the paper roll is uncoupled from CNC controller. Two code converters are developed for the toolpath generation of the new LM system. The NC converter generates a set of NC codes for PaperMill using commercial CAM software while the SML converter generates an NC code from Quickslice's SML format. The NC codes generated from the converters consist of a series of profile data and trigger code for paper feeding. Two sample gears were fabricated to prove the concept of the system, which shown that the dimensional errors of the fabricated gears is under 3.4 percent.
