Currently, the government has been driving numerous projects to build the e-government which can enable limitless access and utilization of the information through the accomplishment of the real time based various administrative services. In water resource field, a project to generate digital river thematic maps has been undergoing as a part of the computerization projects. As a partial results, the RIMGIS project has been completed and generation of the various river thematic maps has been required to fully utilize the DB built from RIMGIS project. For the effective generation of the thematic maps, a data model needs to be developed. A data model has been developed in this study to provide more efficient method to generate the thematic maps utilizing existing DB. The data model proposed from this study has defined the relationships between core feature data and framework Data along with relationships among data elements to represent the rivers in the real world more accurately. The core feature data and framework layers have been defined based on the survey of the domestic and foreign case studies along with requirement analysis of the users in the water resource field. The proposed core feature data has been defined based on the minimum unit of 'class', and the relationship between classes has been established based on the ArcGIS Hydro Data Model for the integrated processing of the river information. The proposed spatial data model can be judged to contribute establishing more efficient generation methodology of the river thematic maps.
In this paper, we propose new technique which uses the fingerprint features in order to generate one time passwords(OTPs). Fingerprint is considered to be one of the powerful personal authentication factors and it can be used for generating variable passwords for one time use. Also we performed a simulation of homomorphic graph variable of fingerprint feature point using dendrogram and distribution of fingerprint feature points for proposed password generation method.

Vector Transformation is a new method unified vector quantization and coding. So far, codebook generation applied to coding was LBG algorithm. But using the advantage of SOFM(Self-Organizing Feature Map) based on neural network can improve a system's performance. In this paper, we generated VTC(Vector Transformation Coding) codebook applied with SOFM algorithm and compare the result for several coding rates with LBG algorithm. The problem of Vector quantization is complicated calculation and codebook generation. So, to solve this problem, we used neural network approach method.
Progressive mesh representation and generation have become one of the most important issues in network-based computer graphics. However, current researches are mostly focused on triangular mesh models. On the other hand, solid models are widely used in industry and are applied to advanced applications such as product design and virtual assembly. Moreover, as the demand to share and transmit these solid models over the network is emerging, the generation and the transmission of progressive solid models depending on specific engineering needs and purpose are essential. In this paper, we present a Cellular Topology-based approach to generating and transmitting progressive solid models from a feature-based solid model for internet-based design and collaboration. The proposed approach introduces a new scheme for storing and transmitting solid models over the network. The Cellular Topology (CT) approach makes it possible to effectively generate progressive solid models and to efficiently transmit the models over the network with compact model size.

A Fuzzy Classifier which deals with very confusing objects is proposed. Naturally this classifier heavily relies on the nulti-feature decision-making procedure. For a simple example, this classifier is applied to the recognition of confusing handwritten numerals 4,6 and 9 The characteristic variables used in this paper are the existence of a loop and the relative location of the starting or ending points(SEP). Thus each sample of handwritten numerals 4, 6 and 9 is classified in one of the 6 groups which are divided according to the sample structure. Each group has its own classifying rules. Also the method of rule-generation using genetic algorithms in each group is proposed.

This paper describes a new practical simplification method for feature-based solid models. In this approach, a solid model created using feature modeling operations is first simplified by the suppression of detailed features, and then, if necessary, the model is converted to a surface model to facilitate its modification. Finally, the simplified surface model is delivered to analysis packages. The algorithm was implemented based on CATIA V.5 and applied to mid-surface generation of plastic parts for structural analysis to prove the validity and usefulness.
We propose an approach to extract and to classify facial features into some classes from one's photo as prepared classification standards to generate one's avatar. Facial Feature Extraction and Classification was executed at eyes, nose, lips, jaw separately and I presented each facial features and classification standards. Extracted Facial Features are used for calculation to features of professional designer's facial component images. Then, most similar facial component images are mapped onto avatar's vector face.

This paper proposes a topology-based algorithm for recognizing the passage features using a concept of multi-face hole loop. The Multi-face hole loop is a concetpual hole loop that is formed over several connected faces. A passage feature is recognized in the proposed approach by two multi-face hole loops that constitute its enterance and exit. The algorithm proposed in this paper checks the connectivity of the two multi-face hole loops to recognize passage features. The total number of passage features in a part is calculated from Euler equation and is compared with the number of found passage features to decide when to terminate. To find all multi-face hole loops in a part, this paper proposes an algorithm for finding all combinations of connected faces. The edge convexity is used to judge the validity of multi-face hole loops. By using the algorithm proposed in this paper, the passage features could be recognized effectively. The approach proposed in this paper is illustrated with several example parts.

This paper deals with some critical activities of CAPP system such as generation of part description database, part feature recognition, process and operation selection, and sequencing method for turning operation of symmetric rotational parts. The part description database is generated by data conversion module from CAD data, and the part feature is recognized by using both pattern primitives and feature recognition rules. Machining processes and operations are selected based on machining surface features and its sequence is determined by rules acquired from process planning expert. AutoCAD is employed as CAD system and computer program is developed by using Turbo-C on IBM PC/AT compatible system.
Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) plays a key role by linking CAD and CAM. Given CAD data of a part, CAPP has to recognize manufacturing features of the part. Despite the long history of research on feature recognition, its research results have rarely been transferred into industry. One of the reasons lies in the separation of feature recognition and process planning. This paper proposes to integrate the two activities through AI techniques, and presents efforts for manufacturable feature recognition, setup minimization, feature dependency construction, and generation of an optimal machining sequence.
