Integration of CAM and CAM information is important in the CIM era. For a CIM system, the feature representation can be a solution to the integration of product model data. These are geometry feature, functional feature, and manufacturing feature in the feature context. This paper proposes a framework to integrate the configuration design method, parametric modeling and the feature modeling method. The concept of design unit which is one level higher than functional feature and parametric modeling concept with functional features have been proposed.

In this paper, we propose a PCA-based feature feedback method for extracting important areas of handwritten numeric data sets and face data sets. A PCA-based feature feedback method is proposed by extending the previous LDA-based feature feedback method. In the proposed method, the data is reduced to important feature dimensions by applying the PCA technique, one of the dimension reduction machine learning algorithms. Through the weights derived during the dimensional reduction process, the important points of data in each reduced dimensional axis are identified. Each dimension axis has a different weight in the total data according to the size of the eigenvalue of the axis. Accordingly, a weight proportional to the size of the eigenvalues of each dimension axis is given, and an operation process is performed to add important points of data in each dimension axis. The critical area of the data is calculated by applying a threshold to the data obtained through the calculation process. After that, induces reverse mapping to the original data in the important area of the derived data, and selects the important area in the original data space. The results of the experiment on the MNIST dataset are checked, and the effectiveness and possibility of the pattern recognition method based on PCA-based feature feedback are verified by comparing the results with the existing LDA-based feature feedback method.

We often extract a new feature from the original features for the purpose of reducing the dimensions of feature space and better classification. In this paper, we show feature extraction method based on independent component analysis can be used for classification. Entropy and mutual information are used for the selection of ordered features. Performance of classification based on independent component analysis is compared with principal component analysis for three real data sets.

In this paper, in order to avoid the deterioration of the pattern classification performance which results from the curse of dimensionality, we propose a new feature selection method. The newly proposed feature selection method is based on Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm which analyzes the data points to divide them into several clusters and the concept of a function with fuzzy numbers. When it comes to the concept of a function where independent variables are fuzzy numbers and a dependent variable is a label of class, a fuzzy number should be related to the only one class label. Therefore, a good feature is a independent variable of a function with fuzzy numbers. Under this assumption, we calculate the goodness of each feature to pattern classification problem. Finally, in order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, the machine learning data sets are used.

Scene text recognition has important application value and attracted the interest of plenty of researchers. At present, many methods have achieved good results, but most of the existing approaches attempt to improve the performance of scene text recognition from the image level. They have a good effect on reading regular scene texts. However, there are still many obstacles to recognizing text on low-quality images such as curved, occlusion, and blur. This exacerbates the difficulty of feature extraction because the image quality is uneven. In addition, the results of model testing are highly dependent on training data, so there is still room for improvement in scene text recognition methods. In this work, we present a natural scene text recognizer to improve the recognition performance from the feature level, which contains feature representation and feature enhancement. In terms of feature representation, we propose an efficient feature extractor combined with Representative Batch Normalization and ResNet. It reduces the dependence of the model on training data and improves the feature representation ability of different instances. In terms of feature enhancement, we use a feature enhancement network to expand the receptive field of feature maps, so that feature maps contain rich feature information. Enhanced feature representation capability helps to improve the recognition performance of the model. We conducted experiments on 7 benchmarks, which shows that this method is highly competitive in recognizing both regular and irregular texts. The method achieved top1 recognition accuracy on four benchmarks of IC03, IC13, IC15, and SVTP.

Recently, attacks on the network environment have been rapidly escalating and intelligent. Thus, the signature-based network intrusion detection system is becoming clear about its limitations. To solve these problems, research on machine learning-based intrusion detection systems is being conducted in many ways, but two problems are encountered to use machine learning for intrusion detection. The first is to find important features associated with learning for real-time detection, and the second is the imbalance of data used in learning. This problem is fatal because the performance of machine learning algorithms is data-dependent. In this paper, we propose the HSF-DNN, a network intrusion detection model based on a deep neural network to solve the problems presented above. The proposed HFS-DNN was learned through the NSL-KDD data set and performs performance comparisons with existing classification models. Experiments have confirmed that the proposed Hybrid Feature Selection algorithm does not degrade performance, and in an experiment between learning models that solved the imbalance problem, the model proposed in this paper showed the best performance.
An intrusion can be defined as any set of actors that attempt to compromise the integrity, confidentiality and availability of computer resource and destroy the security policy of computer system. The Intrusion Detection System that detects the intrusion consists of data collection, data reduction, analysis and detection, and report and response. It is important for feature selection to detect the intrusion efficiently after collecting the large set of data of Intrusion Detection System. In this paper, the feature selection method using Genetic Algorithm and Decision Tree is proposed. Also the method is verified by the simulation with KDD data.

By virtue of progress of computer science, CAD/CAM technology has been developed greatly in each area. But the problems in the integration of CAD/CAM are not yet solved completely. The reason is that the exchange of data between CAD and CAM is difficult because the domains of design and manufacturing are different in nature. To solve this problem, a feature based modeller is developed in this study, which makes it possible to communicate between design and manufacturing through features. The modeller has feature, the concept of semi-bounded plane is introduced, and implemented as a B-rep sheet model using half-edge data structure. The features are then created on a part by local modification of the boundary on a part based on feature template information. This approach generalizes the modelling of features in a geometry model.
In this paper, we study the problem of computing smooth feature curves from CAD type point clouds models. The proposed method reconstructs feature curves from the intersections of developable strip pairs which approximate the regions along both sides of the features. The generation of developable surfaces is based on a linear approximation of the given point cloud through a variational shape approximation approach. A line segment sequencing algorithm is proposed for collecting feature line segments into different feature sequences as well as sequential groups of data points. A developable surface approximation procedure is employed to refine incident approximation planes of data points into developable strips. Some experimental results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
Microarray data plays an essential role in diagnosing and detecting cancer. Microarray analysis allows the examination of levels of gene expression in specific cell samples, where thousands of genes can be analyzed simultaneously. However, microarray data have very little sample data and high data dimensionality. Therefore, to classify microarray data, a dimensional reduction process is required. Dimensional reduction can eliminate redundancy of data; thus, features used in classification are features that only have a high correlation with their class. There are two types of dimensional reduction, namely feature selection and feature extraction. In this paper, we used k-means algorithm as the clustering approach for feature selection. The proposed approach can be used to categorize features that have the same characteristics in one cluster, so that redundancy in microarray data is removed. The result of clustering is ranked using the Relief algorithm such that the best scoring element for each cluster is obtained. All best elements of each cluster are selected and used as features in the classification process. Next, the Random Forest algorithm is used. Based on the simulation, the accuracy of the proposed approach for each dataset, namely Colon, Lung Cancer, and Prostate Tumor, achieved 85.87%, 98.9%, and 89% accuracy, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed approach is therefore higher than the approach using Random Forest without clustering.
