This paper presents a new numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition based on the synchronized phasors. The proposed algorithm is based on the synchronized phasor measured from the synchronized PMUs installed at two-terminals of the transmission lines. In order to discriminate the fault type, the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. The results of the proposed algorithm testing through computer simulation are given.
This paper proposes a FRTU-based intelligent fault distance determination strategy in which each FRTU is able to avoid multiple estimations and reduce the level of estimation error by utilizing heuristic rules driven by voltage and current information collected by 1:1 communication with other FRTUs from the same zone in a ubiquitous-based distribution system. In the proposed method, each FRTU, at first, determines a fault zone and a fault path on the faulted zone based on the proposed heuristic rules which use its current data and the voltage data of its neighboring FRTUs as input data. Next, it determines the fault distance from its position based on the fault current estimated from the current data of the neighboring FRTUs. Finally, in order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, the diverse fault cases are simulated in several positions of the typical distribution system using the EMTP.

This paper presents a new two-terminal numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition using the synchronized phasor in time-domain. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. Also the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. In this paper the algorithm is given and estimated using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). The algorithm uses a very short data window and enables fast fault detection and classification for real-time transmission line protection. To test the validity of the proposed algorithm, the Electro-Magnetic Transient Program(EMTP/ATP) and MATLAB is used.
This paper presents an improved two-terminal technique for fault location estimation. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized phasors measured from the synchronized PMUs installed at two-terminals of the transmission lines. Also the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records. Also, the two-terminal fault algorithm for the long line model is derived in the spectral domain.

This paper presents the real-time implemented distance relay algorithm which the fault distance is estimated with only local terminal information. When a single-phase-to-earth fault on a two-parallel transmission line occurs, the reach accuracy of distance relay is considerably affected by the unknown variables which are fault resistance, fault current at the fault point and zero- sequence current of sound line The zero-sequence current of sound line is estimated by using the zero sequence voltage which is measured by relaying location Also. the fault resistance is removed at the Process of numerical formula expansion. Lastly, the fault current through a fault point is expressed as a function of the zero-sequence current of fault line, zero-sequence current of sound line, and line, and fault distance. Therefore, the fault phase voltage can be expressed as the quadratic equation of the fault distance. The solution of this Quadratic equation is obtained by using a coefficient of the modified quadratic equation instead of using the square root solution method. After tile accurate fault distance is estimated. the mote accurate impedance is measured by using such an information.

In this paper, a new high resolution reflectometry scheme, time-frequency domain reflectometry(TFDR), isproposed to detect and estimate a fault in a transmission line. Traditional reflectometry methodologies have been achieved either in the time domain or in the frequency domain only. However, the TFDR can jump over the performance limits of the traditional reflectometry methodologies because the acquired signal is analyzed in time and frequency domain simultaneously. In the TFDR, the new reference signal and the novel TFDR algorithm are proposed for analyzing the acquired signal in the time-frequency domain. Because the reference signal of Gaussian envelop chirp signal is localized in the time and frequency domain simultaneously, it is suitable to the analysis in the time-frequency domain. In the proposed TFDR algorithm, the time-frequency distribution function and the normalized time-frequency cross correlation function are used to detect and estimate a fault in a transmission line. That algorithm is verified for real-world coaxial cables which are typical transmission line with different types of faults by the TFDR system composed of real instruments. The performance of the TFDR methodology is compared with that o( the commercial time domain reflectomeoy(TDR) experiments, so that concludes the TFDR methodology can detect and estimate the fault with smaller error than TDR methodology.

High voltage distribution lines in the electric railway system placed according track with communication lines and signal equipments. Case of the over head lines is occurrence the many fault because lightning, rainstorm, damage from the sea wind and so on. According this fault caused protection device to wrong operation. One line ground fault that occurs most frequently in railway high voltage distribution lines and sort of faults is line short, three line ground breaking of a wire, and so on. For this reason we need precise maintenance for prevent of the faults. The most important is early detection and fast restoration in time of fault for a safety transit. In order to develop an advanced fault location device for 22.9[kV] distribution power network in electric railway system this paper deals with new fault locating algorithm using flow technique which enable to determine the location of the fault accurately. To demonstrate its superiorities, the case studies with the algorithm and the fault analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC (Power System Computer Aided Design/Electro Magnetic Transients DC Analysis Program) were carried out with the models of direct-grounded 22.9[kV] distribution network which is supposed to be the grounding method for electric railway system in Korea.
This paper presents the fault location estimation algorithm in transmission line using a recursive least square error method (RLSE). To minimize the computational burden of the digital relay a RLSE approach is used. Computer simulation results of the RLSE algorithm seem promising, indicating that it should be considered for further testing and evaluation.

This paper presented Fuzzy logic application to Electrical power system analysis for fault location estimation in distribution lines and apply the Power system theory to be fuzzy logic database. The case study referred to the Overhead distribution line of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA.), Thailand which mostly the distribution line of PEA. are Radial schemes. These benefits include reduced outage time, help in locating momentary faults, enhance safety to the line crews and provide notification of an outage without receiving calls from the consumer, Which these benefits also increase Reliability, Stability and Efficiency.
