쇼트피닝 가공에 의한 Al 7075-T6의 피로특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fatigue Characteristics of Al 7075-T6 by Shot Peening)

  • The shot peening process is most often used to improve fatigue properties of metal parts. In order to achieve optimum, repeatable and reliable fatigue enhancement from the shot peening process, the important shot peening parameters must be controlled. In this paper, the optimum shot peening condition is investigated. Rotate bending fatigue test was accomplished to investigate the effects of shot peening on the fatigue strength. Experimental results show that the fatigue strength was tremendously increased by optimum peening condition. But the fatigue strength was decreased by under peening or over peening.

  • In fatigue crack growth test, it is important not only to analyze characteristics of fatigue crack growth but also to determine the threshold stress intensity factor, ${\Delta}K_{th}$. which is the threshold value of fatigue crack growth. Linear regression analysis using fatigue test data near the threshold is suggested to determine the ${\Delta}K_{th}$ in the standard test method but the ${\Delta}K_{th}$ can be affected by a fitting method. And there are some limitations on the linear regression analysis in the case of small number of test data near the threshold. The objective of this study is to investigate differences of the ${\Delta}K_{th}$ due to regression analysis method and to evaluate the relative error range of the ${\Delta}K_{th}$ in same fatigue crack growth test data.

  • This paper addresses details of wave load nonlinearity effect on stress RAO and damage ratio using component stochastic fatigue analysis. Traditional spectral fatigue analysis for ship structure is based on linear theory; however, there are a number of nonlinearity sources. Especially loading nonlinearity, such as hydrodynamic pressure applying to ship side and gravity changes due to roll and pitch motion, is thought to critically violate the linearity assumption of spectral fatigue analysis, which involves stress RAO as linear parameter. The main focus is placed on how to idealize complicated characteristics of loading nonlinearity and how to implement the nonlinear bias to linear spectral fatigue analysis.

Al-3%Ti 박막의 피로성질에 대한 시편 크기 영향 (Specimen Size Effect on Fatigue Properties of Surface-Micromachined Al-3%Ti Thin Films)

  • This paper presents high cycle fatigue properties of an Al-3%Ti thin film, used in a RF (radio-frequency) MEMS switch for a mobile phone and also describes new test method for obtaining static and dynamic characteristics of thin film and reliability evaluation method on MEMS device with thin film developed by authors. Durability should be ensured for such devices under cycling load. Therefore, with the proposed specimen and test procedure, tensile and fatigue tests were performed to obtain mechanical and fatigue properties. The specimen was made with dimensions of $1000{\mu}m$ long, $1.0{\mu}m$ thickness, and 3 kinds of width, 50, 100 and $150{\mu}m$. High cycle fatigue tests for each width were also performed, from which the fatigue strength coefficient and the fatigue strength exponent were found to be 193MPa and .0.02319 for $50{\mu}m$, 181MPa and -0.02001 for $100{\mu}m$, and 164MPa and -0.01322 for $150{\mu}m$, respectively. We found that the narrower specimen is, the longer fatigue life of Al-3%Ti is and the wider specimen is, the more susceptible to stress level fatigue life of Al-3%Ti was.

SS400 용접부의 피로강도에 미치는 쇼트 피닝의 영향 (Effect of Shot Peening on the Fatigue of SS400 Weldments)

  • 철도 차량 대차 프레임은 주로 용접을 이용하여 제작되고 있는데 용접부에서의 피로파괴는 늘 문제가 되어왔다. 용접부의 피로강도를 향상시키기 위한 여러 방법 중 본 연구에서는 쇼트 피닝을 적용하였다. 철도 구조물에 많이 사용되는 소재의 하나인 SS400 판재를 이용하여 용접시편을 만들어 쇼트 피닝과 후열처리 유무에 따른 피로특성을 분석하였다. 피로시험결과에 의하면 쇼트 피닝은 피로강도를 향상시키는데 매우 효과적이었고 후열처리는 피로강도를 도리어 저하시키는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the fatigue effects of rail pad on High Speed Railway with concrete slab track system. It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of HSR concrete slab track with applying rail pad stiffness based on fatigue effect(hardening and increasing stiffness) on the 3-dimensional FE analysis and laboratory test for static & dynamic characteristics. As a result, the hardening of rail pad due to fatigue loading condition are negative effect for the static & dynamic response of concrete slab track which is before act on fatigue effect. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate rail pad on fatigue effected increase vertical acceleration and stress and decrease suitable deflection on slab track. And rail pad based on fatigue effect induced dynamic maximum stresses, the increase of damage of slab track is predicted by adopting fatigue effected rail pad. after due consideration The servicing HSR concrete slab track with resilient track system has need of the reasonable determination after due consideration fatigue effect of rail pad stiffness which could be reducing the effect of static and dynamic behavior that degradation phenomenon of structure by an unusual response characteristic and a drop durability.

자전거 프레임의 소재 및 종류에 따른 피로특성 (Fatigue Characteristics of Bicycle Frames Depending on Types and Materials)

  • Bicycles are very popular sporting goods in these days. Thus, the durability of bicycles is very important for the safety of bicyclists. It is well known that a bicycle frame is a major component which is essential to the safety and performance of a complete bicycle. In this study, the durability of bicycle frames were experimentally investigated under the fatigue load. Eighty bicycle frames with different types and materials were prepared and tested according to EN standards. Three kinds of fatigue loads, that is, pedalling, vertical and horizontal fatigue load, which occur constantly during riding a bicycle, were applied to the bicycle frames. The experimental results show that the horizontal fatigue load was the severest mode to pass EN standard. The pass ratio of horizontal fatigue load test was 45.2%, while the pass ratio of vertical fatigue load test was 100%. Most of cracks were found at the right side of bottom bracket shell and at the intersection area between head tube and down tube. It seems that the experimental results can be applied to improve the safety and performance of a bicycle frame.

  • A Rubber mount is widely used for mechanical parts or engineering materials. Especially, it plays an important role in reducing mechanical vibration due to cyclic loading. But, rubber mount is damaged due to the cyclic loading and resonance. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate evaluation of fatigue life considering vibration characteristics for rubber. In this study, a vibration fatigue analysis was performed and based on Power Spectral Density(PSD) and the stress-life curve and a result of frequency response analysis in the finite element method. The measured load history in experiment was transformed to PSD curve. The stress-life curve was obtained by nonlinear static analysis and fatigue test. In addition, frequency response analysis was conducted for mechanical part. In order to evaluate fatigue life of rubber mount, vibration fatigue test was conducted at the constant acceleration-level as well. Fatigue life was determined when the load capacity is reduced to 60% of its initial value. As a result, predicted fatigue life of rubber mount agreed fairly well with the experimental fatigue life.

임신기간에 따른 임부 피로 자각 정도의 차이 (Differences of Women피s Perception of Fatigue According to the Period of Pregnancy)

  • A study was done to identify the differences of women's perception of fatigue according to the period of pregnancy. Questionnaires were collected from 510 normal pregnant women in 3 University Hospitals in Korea from April to November of 1999. The questionnaires used to measure pregnant women's fatigue were the "Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test" designed by the Research Committee of Industrial Fatigue in Hygienic Association of Japanese Industry. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS-Win. The results revealed that there was a significant difference according to the periods of pregnancy: The degree of fatigue was the highest in the first trimester and then third and second trimester in decreasing order (F=89.53, p=0.000). The degree of fatigue was also compared with the respect to the general characteristics of women: There were statistically significant differences according to number of pregnancy (t=6.41, p=0.000), expectation of pregnancy (t=-291, p=0.004) and weight change (F=8.07, p=0.000). Therefore, variable nursing intervention should be provided to alleviate the fatigue according to the each trimester of pregnant period. Especially the nursing intervention program to alleviate the physical fatigue in the first trimester is necessary.

콘크리트 포장 피로실험 데이터의 쪼갬인장 피로특성 (Split Tension Fatigue Characteristics Analysis of Fatigue Tests Data for Concrete Pavements)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the fatigue test data of pavement concrete. The static strength tests were carried out to check the compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tension strength at 56 days in order to minimize strength variation effect during test. The specimens were fabricated at twelves sections at a construction site of highway. The stress level and stress ratio of fatigue test were determined from static test results. The results are as follow: The flexural strength at 28 days mostly satisfied the criterion for design, but the compressive strength at 28 days were slightly below the criterion even though it satisfied at 56 days. The fatigue limit was 2 million cycles if the specimen was not failed to that cycles. The S-N curves were developed from the fatigue test results at each stress levels and each stress ratio. Then, the fatigue life of pavement concrete at a given stress level and fatigue strength of pavement concrete could be derived from these curves. Analysis using method No.2 was more acceptable because resulting of comparison and analysis using method No.2 was presented 2 sections were presented $R^2$ < 0.7, and other 2 sections were presented 0.7 < $R^2$ < 0.8, and the others 8 sections were $R^2{\geq}0.8$.
