Consciousness and Purchasing Attitude of Fashion Luxury -Focused on the College Students in Daejeon - (패션 명품에 대한 의식 및 구매 태도 -대전지역 대학생을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine consciousness of purchasing fashion luxury and to investigate the extent of post-purchase satisfaction among young college students. 400 consumers living in Daejeon were surveyed for the purpose. We used, for a data analysis, descriptive statistics, frequency and ANOVA. The results are as follows: 1) There were significant differences in consciousness of purchasing fashion luxury by demographic variables, such as sex, age, and major. Females with a clothing & textiles major marked higher scores in both interest and preference for fashion luxury. They regarded it as the goods with high price, high brand, and high quality. 2) One of the best items of fashion luxury goods was a watch for the students. Cosmetics was also one of them. Yet, the students were unsatisfied with shoes, bags, apparels, sunglasses, cosmetics, and accessories. 3) Most of college students were willing to purchase bags. The purchasing motives of fashion luxury were to be self conspicuousness, self satisfaction and fashion brand image. 4) Well-known luxury brands were Channel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Burburry and Prada. They were also preferred.

The Effects of Social-Face Sensitivity, Conspicuous Consumption and Preference of Fashion Luxury Goods on Purchasing Behavior of Fashion Counterfeits (체면 민감성, 과시 소비 성향, 패션 명품 선호도가 패션 명품 복제품의 구매 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of social-face sensitivity, conspicuous consumption, and preference of luxury fashion goods on purchasing behavior of fashion counterfeits. The questionnaire was administered to 600 women in their teens to thirties in Gwangju. The data from 519 participant were analyzed using the SPSS 14.0 Package. Frequency, factor analysis, regression analysis and path analysis were used to analysis the data. The results indicate that social-face sensitivity, conspicuous consumption and the preference of luxury fashion goods has significant effect on purchasing behavior of fashion counterfeits respectively. The direct effect of social-face sensitivity on purchasing behavior of fashion counterfeits was somewhat stronger than the indirect effect of social-face sensitivity on purchasing behavior of fashion counterfeits through conspicuous consumption and preference of fashion luxury goods.

Consumption Behavior and Fashion Orientation for Luxury Brands of Japanese and Korean Consumers

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between consumption behavior and fashion orientation for luxury brands in Japanese and Korean consumers. For this study, the author carried out a questionnaire survey with objects of 816 Koreans and Japanese, and analyzed the relations among consumer attitude, purchase behavior, lifestyle and fashion orientation. First, in Korea, all fashion orientations gave positive effects on attitude toward luxury brands, and especially it has a significant relation with factors affecting luxury brand consumption, so when luxury enterprises establish a marketing strategy for Koreans, they need to refer to fashion orientation intensively. Second, as a result of analyzing the relation between fashion orientation and purchasing behavior, it was found that fashion interest is an important factor affecting luxury brand purchasing behaviors, in both Japan and Korea. Third, Japanese luxury brand enterprises need to focus on consumers who prefer standard goods. while Korean enterprises need to focus on consumers who prefer specific brands. Lastly, in case of Japanese consumers, the more they pursue self-esteem and reasonable consumption, the higher they prefer standard goods, while the more Korean consumers pursue conspicuous consumption, hedonic consumption and self-esteem, the higher Koreans prefer specific brands.

The Effects of Variables on Fashion Luxury Brand Purchasing Behavior (패션 명품 브랜드에 대한 구매행동 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine fashion luxury brand purchasing behavior among young women, and to find variables which influenced on their behavior. 993 women living in Seoul and its suburb were surveyed for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA, and regression were used for this study. As the result, approximately 66.3% of respondents had purchased fashion luxury products before such as Burburry, DKNY, and Louis Vuitton. Generally, the frequencies of purchasing toward the luxury products were associated with materialism, conspicious consumption, reference group influence, and ethnocentrism. Also, results revealed that materialism and conspicuous consumption accounted for 43% of the explained variance in the frequency of purchasing products. Based on these results, fashion marketing strategies would be suggested.

The Relationship of Ethnocentrism and Fashion Leadership and their Influences on Purchasing Attitude toward Luxury Brands (자민족중심주의, 패션선도력의 관계 및 명품구매태도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study intended to identify the effects of consumer ethnocentrism and fashion leadership on purchasing attitude toward luxury brands. This study also identified differences in consumer ethnocentrism and fashion leadership according to demographic characteristics and the relationship between ethnocentrism and fashion leadership. The data used in this study were gathered through surveying university students living in Seoul using convenient sampling method, and 325 questionnaires were used in t test, F test, and regression analysis. The results showed significant differences in consumer ethnocentrism according to age, clothing expenditure, monthly pocket money and in fashion leadership according to age, major, clothing expenditure, monthly pocket money, and monthly household income. There was no significant relationship between consumer ethnocentrism and fashion leadership. Consumer ethnocentrism negatively influenced the purchasing attitude whereas fashion leadership influenced positively. The results of this study provide insights into young consumers' increasing demands toward luxury brands and suggest some promotional tools that might prove effective.

  • The purposes of this study were study intended to investigate effects of conspicuous consumption, sales promotions and images of the country of manufacture on Chinese consumers' purchasing attitudes to fashion luxury brands. The study was conducted by experimental conspicuous consumption(2)X[types of sales promotions(2) X images of the country of manufacture(2)] design by combining the 3 variables mentioned above. 312 women living in Chengdu were collected for this study. For data analysis, factor analysis, T-test, frequency analysis and ANOVA were used. The results were as follows: First, Chinese consumers' favor to fashion luxury brands: 2-way interactions, in sales promotions and images of the country of manufacture, was found for favor to fashion luxury brands. Second, Chinese consumers' purchase intent to fashion luxury brands: only the main-effects of conspicuous consumption and images of the country of manufacture was meaningfully positive. It demonstrates that only conspicuous consumption and images of the country of manufacture effected Chinese consumers' purchase intent to fashion luxury brands.

Purchasing Intentions toward Originals and Counterfeits - Foreign Fashion Luxury Brands - (진품과 복제품 구매의도 - 패션 명품을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the clusters based on two behavioral intentions toward purchasing originals and counterfeits of foreign fashion luxury brands and to examine the differences in personality characteristics and demographics. This study included attitude toward counterfeit, consumer ethnocentrism, materialism, and need for uniqueness as personality characteristics and gender, monthly household income, and pocket money as demographics. Data were gathered by surveying university students living in Seoul metropolitan area using convenient sampling, and 320questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing data, cluster analysis, x-test, and One-way ANOVA were conducted. As a result of the cluster analysis based on two behavioral intentions toward purchasing originals and counterfeits, four groups were identified. There were significant differences in attitude toward counterfeit and materialism according to the purchasing intention clusters. x-tests also showed there were significant differences between the number of male and female subjects in each of the four clusters. Females are significantly more represented than females in all four clusters.

The Effects of Fashion Luxury Brand Loyalty on Attitudes toward Counterfeits (패션 명품브랜드 충성도가 복제품 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine attitudes toward countefeits among fashion luxury brand consumers, and to investigate the influences or effects of brand loyalty on purchasing frequency of fashion luxury brand and the effects of brand loyalty on attitudes toward counterfeits. The subject used for this study were 214 female consumers who have purchased fashion luxury brand products. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, multiple regression, and ANOVA were used. As the results, first, the brand loyalty were classified into three factors; enduring brand loyalty, symbolic brand loyalty and famous brand loyalty. Second, the attitudes toward counterfeit was composed of four factors; comparison with genuine goods, counterfeits as alternative, approval of counterfeits purchase, and illegality of counterfeit manufacturers. Third, purchasing frequency significantly influenced on the attitudes toward counterfeits finally, higher brand loyalty group had more negative attitudes and lower purchasing intention toward counterfeits than other groups. Based on these results, prevention marketing strategies of counterfeit goods would be provided.

The Effects of Consumer-Brand Relationship on Purchasing Attitudes Toward Counterfeits (패션 명품 소비자-브랜드 관계가 복제품 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of consumer-brand relationship on purchasing attitudes toward counterfeits. 341 female college students who had purchased fashion luxury brand products were surveyed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, pearson's correlations, ANOVA, and multiple regression were used. As the results, consumer-brand relationship was classified into three factors; commitment relationship, trust relationship, and emotion relationship. Also, higher consumer-brand relationship was correlated with higher preference and satisfaction, and lower purchasing attitudes toward counterfeits. Also, among the three groups(heavy/middle/low) of consumer-brand relationship, the heavy group had higher preference and satisfaction, and lower purchasing attitudes toward counterfeits. Also, results revealed that 'commitment relationship' and 'emotional relationship' accounted for 32% of the explained variance in 'favorableness', while 'trust relationship' and 'emotional relationship' accounted for 26% and 29% of the explained variance in 'trust toward product quality'. Based on these results, fashion luxury brand marketing strategy would be suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the attributes of consumers global luxury fashion brands and to find the impact of consumer value, meaning the social and pleasure values derived from brands on product purchase involvement. The method in this study was analysis of a total of 298 responses to a questionnaire. The results indicate, first of all, that among the attribute evaluations of global luxury brands, traditionality and splurge affect purchasing involvement. However, prestige and originality were found to have no influence on purchasing involvement. Second, the responses to the questionnaire indicate that social and pleasure values had a statistically significant effect on purchase of luxury brands. Third, the value of cross-group attributes evaluation and consumption value to differences in purchase involvement has had statistically significant results. In conclusion, the traditional and Splurge natures of the luxury global fashion industry's brand, social consumption value and pleasure consumption value affect the level of purchase involvement. This underscores the importance of attribute Evaluation(traditional and splurge) and consumption value(social and pleasure) when planning consumer marketing strategies for global luxury fashion brands in the future.
