The purpose of this study is to test whether credit rating agencies highly evaluate the credit ratings of corporate bonds based upon management participation and ownership share by family governance in ownership structure forms. The samples of this study for empirical analysis were 1,449 non-financial companies listed on Korean Exchange from 2011 to 2016, over whose firm/year data this study conducted regression analysis. The results of empirical analysis in this study are as follows. First, family businesses had positive effects on the evaluation of corporate credit ratings. Second, if the ownership share of family businesses was higher, corporate credit ratings were higher. This result means that high ownership share in family businesses has very positive effects on the credit ratings of related businesses. It is meaningful that this study tested the effect that family businesses can alleviate agency problems and reduce information asymmetry. Furthermore, it is also academically meaningful that this study can contribute to future studies on the role of ownership structure.
Korean society recently realized the needs for a system that may effectively prevent and/or resolve different family problems caused by the rapidly changing modem society. In order to carry out this objectives. The Healthy Family Act has been legislated and is to be enforced from the 1st of January, 2005. Legislating the law is a means to establish an administrative and institutional structure that may bring in the total welfare system centered around family, so as to promote healthy families in our society. This is also a land marking event that has shifted the paradigm from the welfare system focusing on individual protection to the total welfare system based upon family units. Hence, this study is to examine the specific concepts of 'healthy family,' which is the goal of The Healthy Family Act, and thus to propose the objectives of the law by analysing the institutional system of it. The Healthy Family Act, which consists of major 37 items of 5 chapters with supplementary provisions, aims at the five ideals as follows. The first is to promote the healthy family which is the basis of individual welfare and well-to-do society. The second is to emphasize the importance of family and to provide total service system for family unit. The third is to establish the family value which supports gender-equality and democracy. The fourth is to reinforce the governmental support for independence and cooperation of family. And the fifth is to promote the in-advance and precautionary support for family problems. The law also includes administrative methods for Strong Families Center, different projects and programs for promoting healthy families, roles of Healthy Family Specialist and means to cultivating them, and the policies to specifically carry out the ideas of the law. It is now important to recognize that the development of nation is based on the healthy families and to put much effort in carrying out the ideas and goals of The Healthy Family Act.
In this paper, we study Baire property of a family of spaces which contains properly the family of all topological spaces and generalize the existing results. Also, we study the images and inverse images of such spaces.
A new marine sponge in the family Tethyidae, Tethya uljinensis n. sp. was collected from Uljin, Korea in 2007. Halicometes koreana in the family Tethyidae was redescribed. Tethya uljiensis n. sp. is closely to Tethya simi. in skeletal structure and spicule composition. But, it differs in the size of spicules(stronyloxea) and shape of oxyaster.

The genome sequencing has revealed a large number of proteins of unknown or little characterized functions that have been well conserved during evolution. It remains a great challenge to decipher the molecular and physiological functions of these proteins. One example of the evolutionarily conserved protein family with little understood function is the surE family.(omitted)
Discrete element modeling (DEM) in concrete technology is concerned with design and use of models that constitute a schematization of reality with operational potentials. This paper discusses the material science principles governing the design of DEM systems and evaluates the consequences for their operational potentials. It surveys the two families in physical discrete element modeling in concrete technology, only touching upon probabilistic DEM concepts as alternatives. Many common DEM systems are based on random sequential addition (RSA) procedures; their operational potentials are limited to low configuration-sensitivity features of material structure, underlying material performance characteristics of low structure-sensitivity. The second family of DEM systems employs concurrent algorithms, involving particle interaction mechanisms. Static and dynamic solutions are realized to solve particle overlap. This second family offers a far more realistic schematization of reality as to particle configuration. The operational potentials of this family involve valid approaches to structure-sensitive mechanical or durability properties. Illustrative 2D examples of fresh cement particle packing and pore formation during maturation are elaborated to demonstrate this. Mainstream fields of present day and expected application of DEM are sketched. Violation of the scientific knowledge of to day underlying these operational potentials will give rise to unreliable solutions.

The electronic structure of ZnO oxide semiconductor having high optical transparency and good electric conductivity was theoretically investigated by $DV-X_{\alpha}$(the discrete variation $X_{\alpha}$) method, which is a sort of the first principle molecular orbital method using Hatre-Fock-Slater approximation. The electrical and optical properties of ZnO are seriously affected by the addition of impurities. The imnurities are added to ZnO in order to increase the electric conductivity of an electrode without losing optical transparency. In this study, the effect of impurities of III and IV family on the band structure, impurity levels and the density of state of ZnO were investigated. The cluster model used for calculations was $[MZn_{50}O_{53}]^{-2}$(M=elements belonging to III and IV family).

This study aims to investigate the effect of the composition of the board and ownership structure on a firm's value in Jordanian firms. Specifically, it aims to determine the effect of board size, (CEO) duality, and family, foreign, institutional, and government ownership on a firm's value. An ordinary least square regression (OLS) was employed to examine the study hypotheses in a sample of 35 Jordanian industrial firms (175 firm-year observation) for a period of five years from 2016-2020. As measured by Tobin's Q (Q ratio) and market-to-book (MB ratio) for Jordanian industrial firms listed on Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). The result found that foreign ownership, institutional ownership, and family ownership have a significant and positive effect on firm value. By contrast, government ownership does not have a significant effect on firm value. With respect to board composition (CEO duality and board size), the study results found no evidence to support the effect of board composition on firm value. The study recommended the concerned authorities with several recommendations, most notably: taking the necessary measures to ensure the continuity and growth of family businesses because of their positive impact on the value of the company and economic growth, spreading awareness about how governance protects the interests of investors.
The purpose of this study was to find how financial structures differ from the family life cycle. The data was drawn from the 2002 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study conducted by the Korea Labor Institute, and 1,957 households. The level of total income and subcategories of income were found to be significantly different from the family life cycle and showed tendencies to increase up to the period of child birth and then sharply dropped down during the retirement period. Household consumption expenditures in total and subcategories showed a U shape by family life cycle and were also found to be significantly different from the family life cycle. The consumption expenditure of dining out showed the highest level at the beginning of family establishment, whereas medical cost showed the highest level for later years. The level of total assets increased gradually from the family life cycle and a little decreased for the later years, and the level of real estate assets showed the highest ratio(90% over) out of total asset components of family life cycle.
With the increase of single-parent families in the Korean society, the perception of the function and structure of the family is changing. Thus, a public transition toward embracing single-parent families as another form of family is necessary. This study focuses on the families of divorced female single-parents using Walsh's family resilience framework with a strengths-based perspective. It aims to provide the basic data necessary for deducing policy-related and practical ways of supporting the families and for developing programs that help divorced female single-parent families maintain and reinforce resilience. Qualitative analysis was used as the research method. A preceding literature review was also carried out to collect data. The major findings of this study include the following: First, it was found that the average age of divorce is around 30-40, with children of school age. The mothers' level of education was relatively high, ranging from high school graduates to graduate school students. On Rothwell and Cohen's happiness scale, their objective level of happiness was higher (74.1) than that of the average Korean (64). Second, it was found they were very careful to avoid violence in everyday life as an after-effect of domestic violence, which was the major cause of their divorce. Third, their positive and optimistic attitudes about life even in adversity can be interpreted as Walsh's belief systems taking a more important role among other characteristics of family resilience.
