  • This study aims to identify the propensity to consume and housing characteristics according to life cycle as the main independent variable. It also tries to understand the consumption power and housing style of each cycle and analyze whether there are differences between each life cycle, ultimately aiming to match the propensity to consume and housing style with each cycle. For empirical analysis, on and off-line surveys of 488 people were collected and analyzed by cross analysis, factor analysis and analysis of variance. The prime research findings are as follows: First of all, factor analysis on propensity to consume showed four main sub-factors as rational consumption, conspicuous consumption, trend consumption, and status consumption. Secondly, current and preferred housing styles ranked from modern, natural, casual, classic and romantic, which proved that people are currently housed in preferred housing styles. Thirdly, in case of housing-related characteristics of life cycles, the size of the house increased as the levels progressed, and then decreased at level 6 when the children grew into adulthood. The majority of the population was paying a monthly rent, a few were leasing, and a very few owned their housing. 58% were living in apartments, but in levels 1-2, more were living in row houses and high-rise residential buildings, while in level 6 it was detached houses. Fourthly, the propensity to consume according to life cycle tended to shift from conspicuous and trend-based consumption to rational consumption as the cycles progressed. Fifthly, the preferred housing styles were modern and natural styles, regardless of life cycle. These study results can be applied to product development and marketing activities based on their accurate analysis of customers' needs, which can thus bring further customer satisfaction.

  • Recently, workers are interested in work-life balance. However, most dual- income couples do not make the effort to achieve work-life balance in their everyday life compared with many workplaces that make various family-friendly policies available to them. Therefore, this study aims to suggest the necessity and process of work-life balance through career management over one's lifespan. The needs and resources of families are not the same during every stage of the family life cycle. Thus, dual-income couples should aim to invest in career management which includes balancing their work and their family when considering their future career and life. Additionally, they should try to match the needs and resources of both their work and their family by using family resources, workplace policies, and community networks.

  • The aim of this study is to propose the criteria for a evaluation model of the lifetime household work and organize the model. The results were as follows: Three criteria for a evaluation model of the life-time household work were proposed. $\circled1$ An appropriate framework of the evaluation model should be based on the transition of the family life. $\circled2$ The model should include major variables influencing the value of household work of homemaker. $\circled3$ The model should be flexible enough to accommodate various evaluation methods, and should reflect idiosyncracies of different evaluation methods. In view of the criteria stated above, the present study is based on the family life cycle framework. And the age of the last offspring exhibits a consistent major influence in the evaluation based on the household work hours, while the education level of homemakers shows a consistent major influence in the evaluation based on household worker. So as to reflect these two major variables in the family life cycle framework.

The values of Chronbach's α were obtained on the efficiency of the interspouse communication (α =0.885) and marital satisfaction (α=0.939). Data analysis was by Chronbach's α, ANOVA. Pearson's Product Moment Correlation. Path Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results were as follows; 1) Marital Satisfaction was positively related (1) to demographic-socialogical variables; educational level , monthly income, the frequencies of family's joint-leisure-activity (2) the efficiency of the interspouse communication. 2) Efficiency of the interspouse communication was positively related to the frequencies o family's joint-leisure-activity. 3) The relative importance of independent variables on marital satisfaction over the family life cycle was found to be varied in each stage of life cycle. (1) As for the group who had elementary-school-aged children; efficiency of the interspouse communication (β=0.717.p<.001), joint-leisure-activity frequency (β =0.303.p<.001), monthly income(β=0.202.p<.001), mate selection type(β=0.180.p<.05), (2) As for the group who had middle-school-aged children; efficiency of the interspouse communication (β=0.702.p<.001), (3)As for the group who had high school-aged children; efficiency of the interspouse communication (β=0.488.p<.001), joint-leisure-activity frequency (β=0.368.p<.001), (4)the group who had university-aged children; efficiency of the interspouse communication.(β=0.729.p<.001), monthly income (β=0.164.p<.01). The regression model showed that 55 percent of the marital satisfaction could be account for by demographic-socialogical variables and efficiency of the interspouse communication (R2=0.551)

  • This study examined the work-family compatibility experience of married nurses. The participants of this research were 7 registered nurses who are on the expanding stage of their family life cycle. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews from June 10 to November 30, 2015 and analyzed using phenomenological methodology by Colaizzi (1978). The results showed that the work-family compatibility experience of married nurses may be categorized into 4 categories, 'the reality of work and parenting', 'external and internal conflicts about the compatibility of work and parenting', 'compromise with reality for solving the difficulty of compatibility', 'growing desire and efforts for compatibility', and may be identified with 12 theme clusters and 29 themes. The worthiness as a professional woman and happiness in child rearing are the driving force of the compatibility of work and family in married nurses. Therefore, the continued support of government policies and family is important for married nurses to maintain work and family balance.

  • This study analyzed factors affecting daily travel times at each stage of commuters' life cycle. In this study, travel times were dealt with in the context of trip chain. That is, the travel time was defined as the total amount of time commuters had spent to move for daily activities from leaving to coming back home. A commuter's life cycle was divided into 6 stages on a basis of both householder's age and family type: i.e., the unmarried youth period, the family forming period, the children education period, the children youth period, the children independence period, and the aged period. Variables such as commuting times, home-based trip cycle recurrences, and the number of stops differed for each stage of life cycle, the latter of which represents how many places a commuter dropped by during a trip cycle. Several factors were found to affect commuting times at each stage of life cycle as a result of applying a Cox proportional hazard model. The empirical study was conducted using 2010' household travel survey data collected from Gyeonggi-do.
