  • Recently, as the market for SMART TV expands, the camera is embedded for providing various user experience. However, this leads to occurrence of camera failure due to TV power up sequence problem, which are usually not detectable in conventional test equipments. Although the failure-detection can be possible by re-generating control signals for audio interface with new equipment, it is expensive and also requires much time to test. In this paper, for SMART TV, FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)-based failure-detection system is proposed which can lead to reduction of both cost and time for test.

  • In this paper, an evolution of software reliability engineering in a large-scale software project is summarized. The considered software consists of many components, called functional blocks in software of switching system. These functional blocks are served as the unit of coding and test, and the software is continuously updated by adding new functional blocks. We are mainly concerned with the analysis of the effects of these software components in software reliability and reliability evolution. We analyze the static characteristics of the software related to software reliability using collected failure data during system test. We also discussed a pattern which represents a local and global growth of the software reliability as version evolves. To find the pattern of system software, we apply the S-shaped model to a collection of failure data sets of each evolutionary version and the Goel-Okumoto(G-O) model to a grouped overall failure data set. We expect this pattern analysis will be helpful to plan and manage necessary human/resources fur a new similar software project which is developed under the same developing circumstances by estimating the total software failures with respect to its size and time.

  • Tensile load tests were conducted on High-Shear Ring Anchors (HRAs) after shear load had been applied to the HRAs, which had been developed to reduce the number of the anchors. Test variables include the embedment length of the rod and the width of the specimens and a total of 12 specimens were tested. Test results show that the HRAs pulled out due to bond failure or steel failure occurred in case that the HRAs were installed to the members with 300mm or greater width and the embedment length of 160mm (the actual embedment of rod is 140mm) or deeper. Except 4 HRAs showing steel failure of rod, the minimum and average of test-to-prediction by ACI 318-14 ratios are 1.18 and 1.79, respectively. The tensile strength of HRAs, after shear load was applied to the HRAs, can be safely evaluated by the minimum among the concrete breakout strength and bond strength with the actual embedment length of the rod.

  • Geotechnical materials such as silt, fine sand, or coarse granular soils may be unstable under undrained shearing or during rainfall infiltration starting an unsaturated state. Some researches are available describing the instability of coarse granular soils in drained or undrained conditions. However, there is a need to investigate the instability mechanism of unsaturated silty soil considering the effect of degree of compaction and net confining stress under partially and fully drained conditions. The specimens in the current study are compacted at 65%, 75%, & 85% degree of compaction, confined at pressures of 60, 80 & 120 kPa, and tested in partially and fully drained conditions. The tests have been performed in two steps. In Step-I, the specimens were sheared in constant water content conditions (a type of partially drained test) to the maximum shear stress. In Step-II, shearing was carried in constant suction conditions (a type of fully undrained test) by keeping shear stress constant. At the start of Step-II, PWP was increased in steps to decrease matric suction (which was then kept constant) and start water infiltration. The test results showed that soil instability is affected much by variation in the degree of compaction and confining stresses. It is also observed that loose and medium dense soils are vulnerable to pre-failure instability i.e., instability occurs before reaching the failure state, whereas, instability in dense soils instigates together with the failure i.e., failure line (FL) and instability line (IL) are found to be unique.

  • Purpose: In this study, the life of the motor is investigated by performing the accelerated life test with the brush wear of the industrial cleaner motor as the main failure mode. Methods: The accelerating stress factor of the accelerated life test is a voltage, which can increase the number of revolutions of the motor to accelerate the brush wear due to the friction between the brush and the commutator. Also, the accelerating stress level was determined after determining the maximum allowable level of the voltage through the preliminary test. Results: The motor failure time at each accelerating stress level was predicted by regression analysis with brush wear length as performance degradation data. The main failure mode, which is brush wear, of the motor was reproduced by this test. The shape parameter of the Weibull distribution was confirmed to be the same statistically at all accelerating stress levels by the likelihood ratio test. Conclusion: The life of the motor was investigated by performing the accelerated life test with the brush wear of the industrial cleaner motor as the main failure mode. Through the accelerating test method of the cleaner motor, various life expectancy and life expectancy of the acceleration factor are predicted.

  • This paper provides the results and analyses of investigations into porcelain suspension insulators failures on the KEPCO system. The high failure rate of suspension insulators on distribution lines has been attributed to the volume expansion of the cement, the insulation puncture breakdown of the porcelain and the power arc failure. The utility must use only the good insulators and at least reduce the insulator failure rate. So, this paper recommends that the utility make test criteria(cement expansion test, steep front-of-wave flashover voltage test and power arc test. etc) on the suspension insulators.

  • Since permanent magnet coupling transfers power by magnetic force without contact, it has little shock, vibration, noise. In case of overload, it protects a pump or a motor which is relatively important by slipping internally. In this study, failure analysis and test evaluation on the permanent magnet coupling have been proposed and the process that reliability of the product improves through design improvement has been presented. And failure cause of typical failure case has been investigated and improvement plan has been presented. Finally, reliability improvement is established by analysis of the test results of before and after acceleration test.

  • To analysis the failure character of Low-Heat concrete which is used to prevent the thermal crack caused by hydration heat, static loading test was performed by this test method, "Determination of the Fracture Energy of Motar and Concrete by Means of Three-Point Band Tests on Notched Beam" (suggested by RILEM 50-FMC Committe). This study compared and analysised the fracture energy of Mode I (opening mode), the most general pattern in the view of water-cemente ratio(W/C), compressive strength and age of Ordinary Portland Concrete and Low-Heat Concrete under the same mixture. The test results show that the case of Ordinary Portland Concrete and Low-Heat Concrete, low Water-Cemente ratio(W/C) cause the increase of fracture energy, and high failure-strength decrease failure-deflection, and the fracture energy of Low-Heat Concrete is similar to Ordinary Portland Concrete as the age increase. increase.

  • Further to static test on aged RC bridge slabs strengthened with TYFO glassfibers, fatigue tests have been done on aged RC bridge slabs with and without glassfibers. It can be seen from the test that fatigue behaviors of aged RC bridge slabs stiffened with TYFO glassfibers have been by and large improved comparing with those of aged RC bridge slabs without TYFO, but fatigue failure modes have not been changed become of bonding failure between tensile reinforcements and concrete. It is in particular noted from the test that bonding failure between concrete surface and TYFO have been observed. Further tests are strongly necessiated to develop appropriate anchoring method for improving fatigue life of aged RC bridge slabs strengthened with TYFO glassfibers.

  • To investigate failure analysis of surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter for radio frequency, high temperature storage test was carried out. The failure criteria were insertion loss at passband and rejection level at stopband. As a result, the insertion loss at passband increase about 4 dB was due to damages of interdigital transducer (IDT). That is caused by poor adhesion between metal electrode(AI) and piezoelectric substrate and defects on a manufacturing process. This result indicates that good adhesion between electrode and ceramic substrate is important factor And also we investigated the demage factors of electrode. Screen possible of saw filter using high temperature storage test(HTOL) in the manufacturing phase be presented.
