Analysis of Random Variations and Variation-Robust Advanced Device Structures

  • In the past few decades, CMOS logic technologies and devices have been successfully developed with the steady miniaturization of the feature size. At the sub-30-nm CMOS technology nodes, one of the main hurdles for continuously and successfully scaling down CMOS devices is the parametric failure caused by random variations such as line edge roughness (LER), random dopant fluctuation (RDF), and work-function variation (WFV). The characteristics of each random variation source and its effect on advanced device structures such as multigate and ultra-thin-body devices (vs. conventional planar bulk MOSFET) are discussed in detail. Further, suggested are suppression methods for the LER-, RDF-, and WFV-induced threshold voltage (VTH) variations in advanced CMOS logic technologies including the double-patterning and double-etching (2P2E) technique and in advanced device structures including the fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) MOSFET and FinFET/tri-gate MOSFET at the sub-30-nm nodes. The segmented-channel MOSFET (SegFET) and junctionless transistor (JLT) that can suppress the random variations and the SegFET-/JLT-based static random access memory (SRAM) cell that enhance the read and write margins at a time, though generally with a trade-off between the read and the write margins, are introduced.

취약면적법과 DMEA를 활용한 지상전투차량 유공압 현가장치의 취약성 평가 (The Vulnerability Assessment of Hydro-pneumatic Suspension of Ground Combat Vehicles Using Vulnerable Area Method and DMEA)

  • Vulnerability assesses the loss of major performance functions of GCV (Ground Combat Vehicles) when it is hit by enemy's shell. To decide the loss of major functions, it is determined what effects are on the performance of GCV when some components of GCV are failed. M&S (Modeling and Simulation) technology is used to vulnerability assessment. The hydro-pneumatic suspension is used as a sample part. The procedures of vulnerability assessment of the hydro-pneumatic suspension are shown as follows: 1) The components of the suspension are defined, and shot lines are generated evenly around the part. 2) The penetrated components are checked by using the penetration equation. 3) The function model of the suspension is designed by using IDEF0. 4) When the failure of the critical components of the suspension happens, its effect on the function of the suspension can be estimated using DMEA (Damage Mode and Effects Analysis). 5) The diagram of FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) is designed by exploiting DMEA. 6) The damage probability of the suspension is calculated by using FTA and vulnerable area method. In this paper, SLAP (Shot Line Analysis Program) which was developed based on COVART methodology. SLAP calculates the damage probability and visualizes the vulnerable areas of the suspension.

상수도 관로의 물리적 상태평가 기준 개선 (Improvement of Physical Condition Assessment in Water Mains)

  • 상수도시설은 운영관리 환경, 사용범위, 빈도 등 특성에 따라 수명이 달라지며, 현행 법률에서 일률적으로 정하고 있는 내용연수와 차별된 접근이 필요함에 따라, 시설의 파손, 보수이력 등 관리현황 및 시설의 경시적인 변화 상태를 조사 분석하여 기술적 판단을 토대로 한 수명평가 방안이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내외 내용연수 적용현황과 시설별 내용연수 산정 방안, 외국의 상수도시설물 관리 방법, 기존 관로 상태평가 기준 수립을 위한 현황 등을 조사하고, 매설 상수관로에 현장조사를 수행하여, 상수관로의 물리적인 파손위험성과 사고이력을 기반으로 경제적 가치 기준에 의한 잔존수명 평가 기법을 개발하였다. 또한 기존 우리 공사의 노후도 기법을 물리적인 노후진척에 따른 상태변화와 실측 데이터를 활용하여 통계적인 분석을 통하여 평가항목은 축소하고, 신뢰도는 제고하였으며, 관 상태평가를 통해서 합리적인 개량계획 수립을 추진할 수 있도록 관상태평가 가이드라인을 개발하였다.

철도전기 분야 근무자들의 철도 관련 근무 특성이 스트레스에 미치는 융합적 영향 요인 (Convergence Influential Factors on Stress of Workers in the Field of Railroad Electricity by the Railroad Work Characteristics)

  • 이 연구는 철도신호를 포함한 철도전기 분야 근무자를 대상으로 이들의 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 철도 관련 근무 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 2017년 2월 13일부터 3월 10일까지 자기기입식 설문을 실시하여 최종 445건에 대해 분석을 실시하였다. 객관적 근무 특성에는 총 근무기간, 현 근무지, 근무형태, 열차 운행 횟수, 열차 노선유형, 담당하는 열차 종류, 장애/사고 투입 횟수, 휴일 출근 여부, 근무시간을 포함하였으며 주관적 근무 특성에는 직장생활만족도, 주관적 업무 강도를 포함하였다. 이변량 분석결과 모든 철도 관련 근무 특성별로 스트레스에 차이를 보였다. 다변량 분석 결과 총 근무기간, 열차 운행 횟수, 담당하는 열차 종류, 휴일 출근 여부, 직장생활만족도, 주관적 업무 강도가 스트레스의 영향요인으로 확인되었다. 객관적 근무 특성과 스트레스와의 관계에서 주관적 근무 특성들의 조절 효과는 확인되지는 않았다. 따라서 이들 스트레스 영향요인에 대한 회사 차원의 관심 및 스트레스 관리가 필요할 것이다.

  • 최근 건설업의 대형화, 복잡화됨에 따라 안전사고가 증가하고 있다. 특히, 건설장비에 의한 사고 발생수가 증가하고 있다. 이런 사고의 예방을 위해서는 발생원인을 분석할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 한국산업안전공단의 건설재해사례를 통해 안전사고 원인을 분석한다. 연구의 범위는 굴삭기 장비로 한정하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 굴삭기 재해 발생 형태는 협착${\cdot}$감김, 낙하${\cdot}$비래, 충돌${\cdot}$접촉 순으로 분석되었따. 2) 재해원인은 작업반경 내에 근로자출입, 주용도 이외의 용도로 사용함, 작업시작 전 저멈불량${\cdot}$ 작업방법불량 순으로 분석되었다. 이 연구결과는 차후 연구의 기초를 정립하고, 안전사고를 줄이는 기대효과를 가질 것이다.

송전선로 뇌 사고율 예측계산 프로그램 개발 (The Development of Lightning Outage Rate Calculation Program)

  • 송전선로에 발생하는 정전은 산업계에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 특히 낙뢰에 의한 송전선로의 사고는50[%]를 넘고 있다. 송전선로에 발생하는 낙뢰에 의한 정전을 줄이기 위해서는 경제적인 관점을 고려하여 보강대책을 수립하는 것이 중요하다. 송전선로의 신뢰도는 보통 연간 100[km]당 몇 건의 낙뢰에 의한 사고가 발생하는가에 의해 결정되므로, 낙뢰에 대한 보호 대책을 수립하기 위해서는 뇌 사고율을 정확하게 예측하는 것이 필요하다. 낙뢰에 의한 절연물의 섬락현상은 대단히 복잡한 전기자기적 현상이다. 또한 송전선로의 뇌 사고율을 계산하기 위해서는 수많은 반복계산이 요구된다. 따라서 프로그램의 개발이 요구되며, 본 논문에서는 송전선로 뇌 사고율 계산을 위한 기본개념 및 개발된 프로그램을 검증하였다.

저압 배전선로의 누전 및 배선용 차단기의 오동작 방지를 위한 전기안전 제어장치 개발 (Development of electric safety control system for incapable operation of ELB and MCB using the low voltage distribution line)

  • The major causes of electrical fire are classified to short circuit fault, overload fault, electric leakage and electric contact failure. The occurrence factor of the fire is electric arc or spark accompanied with electrical faults. Residual Current Protective Device (RCD), that is Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker(ELB) and Molded_case Circuit Breaker (MCB), of high sensitivity type used at low voltage wiring cuts off earth leakage and overload, but the RCD can't cut off electric arc or spark to be a major factor of electrical fire. As the RCDs which are applied low voltage distribution panel are prescribed to rated breaking time about 30[ms] (KS C 4613), the RCDs can't perceive to the periodic electric arc or spark of more short wavelength level. To be improved on such problem, this research development is proposed to a auxiliary control apparatus for RCD trip on electric arc or spark due to electrical fire. Some experimental results of the proposed apparatus is confirmed to the validity of the analytical results.

경부고속선 절연구간에서 KTX 운행중 모터블럭의 동작특성 분석 (Study on Analysis of Operating Characteristics of Motor Block While KTX is Moving at Neutral Section of Kyung-Bu High Speed Line)

  • Traction power is supplied by three-phase alternating current of 154 kV power grid and electric trains are operated on single phase feeding system. It becomes important to use all the three phases equally and convert them into two-phase electric power (90 degree phase rotation) for traction supply. This is achieved by special transformer from the adjacent traction substation which is separated by a neutral section. Neutral section locations are in front of the substation and between the two substations. The first stage of the Seoul-Busan high-speed railway, design curve radius is larger than 7,000 m and the greatest slope is 25‰. The railway track conditions are evaluated as good enough to install a neutral section at the first stage, but a few factors of coasting operation of the train should be considered at the second stage of Seoul-Busan high-speed railway. The neutral section was located at Kim-cheon substation, which made some neutral section problems produced by the operating train, and the neutral section was moved about 1.5 km to the south toward Dong Dae-gu station due to the track operation condition. Some of the trains which stopped at the existing Kim-cheon Gu-mi station produced another motor block failure after moving the neutral section. In this paper, power quality, system performance and track condition, etc. are suggested to solve the problems.

High Performance ESD/Surge Protection Capability of Bidirectional Flip Chip Transient Voltage Suppression Diodes

  • We have developed new electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices with, bidirectional flip chip transient voltage suppression. The devices differ in their epitaxial (epi) layers, which were grown by reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition (RPCVD). Their ESD properties were characterized using current-voltage (I-V), capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement, and ESD analysis, including IEC61000-4-2, surge, and transmission line pulse (TLP) methods. Two BD-FCTVS diodes consisting of either a thick (12 μm) or thin (6 μm), n-Si epi layer showed the same reverse voltage of 8 V, very small reverse current level, and symmetric I-V and C-V curves. The damage found near the corner of the metal pads indicates that the size and shape of the radius governs their failure modes. The BD-FCTVS device made with a thin n- epi layer showed better performance than that made with a thick one in terms of enhancement of the features of ESD robustness, reliability, and protection capability. Therefore, this works confirms that the optimization of device parameters in conjunction with the doping concentration and thickness of epi layers be used to achieve high performance ESD properties.

Surgical management of male genital lymphedema: A systematic review

  • Genital lymphedema (GL) is an uncommon and disabling disease that manifests as enlargement of the genital region resulting from the disturbance of lymphatic drainage. Although conservative treatment such as decompression is typically the first-line approach, surgical intervention has been shown to be effective in certain cases. This study aimed to systematically review studies evaluating available surgical alternatives for the treatment of male GL. A systematic search strategy using keyword and subject headings was applied to PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library in May 2019. Studies investigating various surgical techniques to treat penile and scrotal lymphedema were included. The potential risk of bias of included trials was evaluated using the methodological index for non-randomized studies (MINORS). In total, 13 studies met the inclusion criteria, nine of which were determined to be high-quality. The average MINORS score was 12.45 for studies involving excision and 14 for studies involving lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA). The most common reason for a low score was a failure to describe the inclusion criteria. Recurrence of lymphedema during follow-up was reported in four studies involving excision and in no studies involving LVA. In general, the quality of the included literature was considered to be fair. Although surgical intervention might not always prevent the recurrence of lymphedema, all of the studies reported improved quality of life after the procedure. This study could be used as the basis for evidence-based guidelines to be applied in clinical practice for managing male GL.
