한국형 고장률 데이터 북 개발에 대한 연구 (A Study on Development of Korean Failure Rate Databook)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to propose procedure and methodology for developing failure rate databook which is suitable for Korean operation environment. Methods: To this end, we investigate failure databooks used in foreign countries and study the procedure and methodology for collecting failure data, organizing the data, estimating failure rate and summarizing results. Results: We develop the procedure of development of failure databook, the items for data collection, database schema of part details and part summary and contents of failure databook by considering the application environment in Korea. Conclusion: The results of our research could be utilized for the development of Korean failure rate databook and research of reliability prediction model and could ultimately contribute to improve the accuracy of reliability prediction.

  • Failure testing is a test that verifies that the system is operating in accordance with failure response requirements. A typical failure test approaches the operating system by identifying and testing system problems caused by unexpected errors during the operational phase. In this paper, we study how to evaluate these Failure at the software development stage. Evaluate the probability of failure due to code changes through the complexity and duplication of the code, and evaluate the probability of failure due to exceptional situations with bugs and test coverage extracted from static analysis. This paper studies the possibility of failure based on the code quality of software development stage.

집중강우시 발생하는 절토사면 붕괴의 특성 연구 (Characteristics of slope failure caused by heavy rainfall)

  • Failure occurred slope, due to typhoon 'Rusa' and 'Maemi' last two years, was studied to evaluate the slope failure characteristics. There're three types of the slope in this study, ie. soil slope, rock slope, mixed slope. Statistical analysis was used to estimate the relation between slope type and failure mode. Among the failure occurred slope, soil slope & mixed slope are dominant at the ratio of 33%, 44% respectively. We conclude that soil slope & mixed slope have more higher risk than rock slope during heavy rainfall.

어랑분포의 형상모수 변화에 따른 소프트웨어 개발 비용모형에 관한 비교 연구 (The Comparative Software Development Cost Model Considering the Change in the Shape Parameter of the Erlang Distribution)

  • 소프트웨어 개발과정에서 소프트웨어 신뢰성은 매우 중요한 문제 중에 하나이다. 소프트웨어 고장현상을 분석하기 위하여 비동질적인 포아송과정에서 고장 발생 추이를 의미하는 위험함수가 고장시간에 독립적으로 일정하거나, 종속적인 경우, 즉 비-증가 또는, 비-감소하는 속성을 가질 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 제품 테스팅 과정에서 고장 수명분포로서 어랑분포의 다양한 형상모수를 고려한 소프트웨어 개발 비용 분석에 대하여 연구되었다. 소프트웨어 고장현상을 분석하기 위하여 모수추정은 최우추정법이 사용되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 어랑분포의 형상모수를 고려한 소프트웨어 개발비용모형 분석을 위하여 소프트웨어 고장간격 시간자료를 이용하여 비교 및 평가하였다. 그 결과 형상모수에 따른 비용곡선을 비교 하였을 때 형상모형이 작을수록 비용이 많고 소프트웨어 최적 방출시간이 지연 됨을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구를 통하여 소프트웨어 개발자들에게 소프트웨어 형상모수에 따른 개발 비용을 탐색하는데, 기본적으로 도움을 줄 수 있는 사전정보의 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • FRACAS(Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) is intended to provide management visibility and control for reliability and maintainability improvement of hardware and associated software by timely and disciplined utilization of failure and maintenance data to generate and implement effective corrective actions to prevent failure recurrence and to simplify or reduce the maintenance tasks. This process applies to acquisition for the design, development, fabrication, test, and operation or military systems, equipment, and associated computer programs. This paper shows the FRACAS development process and developed FRACAS system for a defense equipment.

  • This study is to develop database by an experimental method for the development of condition based maintenance for auxiliary equipment in marine engine systems. Existing ships have been performing regular maintenance, so the actual measurement data development is very incomplete. Therefore, it is best to develop a database on land tests. In this paper, a database developed by an experimental method is presented. First, failure case analysis and reliability analysis were performed to select a failure mode. For the failure simulation test, a test bed for land testing was developed. The failure simulation test was performed based on the failure simulation scenario in which the failure simulation test plan was defined. A 1.5TB failure simulation database has been developed, and it is expected to serve as a basis for ship failure diagnosis and prediction algorithm model development.

  • The bench of cut-slope is necessary to stabilizing. But it is possible to be a weak zone in slope. When a small scale failure is occurred in a bench, it influence a large scale failure of slope. So when it is found out any unstable factor, weathering of rock, a direction of joint in a bench, if the bench is reinforced suitably, the holly failure is prevented in cut-slope

Failure Analysis of a Ball in the Nuclear Fuel Exchanger

  • Failure analysis of the latch ram ball and the C-ram ball with the trade name AFBMA Gr. 50 Colmonoy No. 6, has been performed to identify the root cause of the failure. The study required the extraction of the both failed and normal balls from the nuclear fuel exchanger. Microstructures of both balls were examined after polishing and etching. Breaking tests of both the ball revealed similarity in cleavage surfaces. Fracture surfaces of both failed ball and normal ball after breaking test were examined with SEM and EDX. Microstructure of the ball revealed an austenite phase with coarse Cr rich precipitate. Indented marks observed on the surface of the failed ball are believed to be produced by overloading. In the light of the afore mentioned observations and studies, the failure mechanism of the ball in nuclear fuel exchanger seem to be caused by impact or mechanical overloading on ball.

  • This paper contains analyses and development processes of the requirements to detect the possible intermittent failure in an old avionics backplane. Interconnections for signal transmission between electronic components, such as Pin-to-PCB, FPCB-to-FPCB, pin-to-FPCB, and pint-to-wire, were selected as the main cause of intermittent failure by analyzing target equipment and documents. The possibility of detecting intermittent failures occurring in the target equipment is verified by physics-of-failure analyses. In order to verify the occurrence of intermittent failures and their detectability, latching continuity circuit testers were manufactured and accelerated life tests were performed by applying temperature and vibration cycle in consideration of flight conditions. Through the above process, the detection requirements for the major intermittent failure in the target avionics backplane was developed.

  • Current leakage is the major failure mode of semiconductor device characteristic failures. Conventionally, failures such as short circuit breaks and gate breakdowns have been analyzed and the detected causes have been reflected in the fabrication process. By using a wafer-level emission-leakage failure analysis method (in-line QC), we analyzed leakage mode failure, which is the major failure detected during the probe inspection process for LSIs, typically DRAMs and CMOS logic LSIs. We have thus developed a new technique that copes with the critical structural failures and random failures that directly affect probe yields.
