Purpose: Breakfast is the most important meal to provide energy for the day. Breakfast is especially important to give enough nutritional support to children and adolescents for their physical growth and sexual development. Sleep-related factors like average sleep duration and wake up time would mostly be associated with regular breakfast. This study aimed to investigate the effect of sleep on regular breakfast consumption in Korean adolescents. Methods: The study used the data from the 12th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS-XII) conducted in 2016 by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The data of 62,820 subjects (middle/high school students) were included in the final analysis. The study examined the factors related to regular breakfast, focusing on weekday average sleep duration and wake up time of middle school students and high school students, respectively. Results: Regular breakfast consumption was shown to have a statistically significant association with high economic status, nutritional education, weekday average sleep duration, wake up time, and subjective sleep satisfaction in the multivariate logistic regression. Regardless of the school level, regular breakfast consumption was significantly associated with early wake up time. As to the effect of weekday average sleep duration on regular breakfast consumption, it showed some different results depending on the school level. Conclusion: Regular breakfast consumption of Korean adolescents was related to weekday average sleep duration and wake up time. Having breakfast regularly was affected by both adequate weekday average sleep duration and early wake up time.
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of nutrients and culture conditions on morphology during the seed culture of C. acremonium ATCC 20339 Morphological factors such as hyphal length number of tips number of arthrospores were observed to investigate the relationship between seed morphology and CPC production. During the time course of seed culture, hyphal length was shortened and the number of arthrospores increased rapidly On the other hand the number of tips deceased rapidly and this was closely related to the hyphal length Mixed nitrogen sources of 3% solybean meal and 1% cotton seed flour were determined as the proper organic nitrogen sources, in terms of the morphological factors in the seed culture. This fact was proven in batch culture for the production of Cephalosporin C. It was also found that a proper agitation speed enhanced the morphological differentiation of C. acremonium ATCC 20339, thus improving the production of Cephalosporin C.
The purpose of this survey was to investigate the relationship among obese children, dietary intake and environmental factors. Therefore, this survey compared obese children with normal children on dietary intake and environmental factors. The survey were 110 obese children and 110 normal children whose age, height, and sex were same as the obese children of 21 elementary school in Inchon. The statistical analysis of data was completed using SAS program. The results were summarized as follows : 1) The student's obesity was related to parent's obesity and number of their siblings. There were significant differences between obese groups and normal group for these two factors. 2) Meal time of the obese group showed more irregularity than that of the normal group. Otherwise, the normal group were more "piclity" about special food than the obese group(p<0.05). Also obese children showed unconsious eating while reading or watching TV(p<0.01). The normal group attended physical education class more eagerily the obese group(p<0.001). There was no significant difference between obese children and normal children for learning habits. 3) Obese children shoed higher intake of nutrients compared to normal children. Among all the nutrients, minerals and vitamins showed significant differences. Therefore, further study on obese children and their intake of minerals and vitamin is needed. Also, in order to prevent factors which influence obesity, nutrition education at home as well as school was needed.as needed.

The food service industry is a major driver of global sustainable food consumption. By understanding food consumption behavior, restaurant managers can forecast demands and reduce pre-consumer food waste. This study investigates the relationship between influencing factors and the number of customers at restaurants and cafés. These factors are weather-related factors, including rain and temperature, and school-related factors, including exams and the day of the week. Based on these four factors, 24 possible combinations were created. Three representtive days were chosen for each weekday combination. Besides, one representative day was chosen for each weekend combination. In total, 48 days were sampled throughout the year. Customer data were collected from six restaurants and cafes on a Korean university campus. Conjoint analysis was used to determine the relative importance of each variable to customer numbers. Following that, utility scores were standardized and mapped to determine the best condition when the number of customers was at its peak. In addition, each store's sales were compared using Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The findings support that temperature and rain influences are correlated with the number of customers. Furthermore, we discovered that temperature was far more significant than rain in determining the number of customers. The paper discusses the implications of weather to forecast food and beverage demand and predict meal choices.
This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between diabetic control and related factors of the practice of diet therapy which affects mostly diabetic patients’ dietary compliance. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 128 diabetic patients who had visited Internal medicine endocrinology clinic at University Medical Center of Daegu area. The questionnaires including clinical characteristics, meal regularity and food intake which shows dietary compliance, intrinsic barriers to the practice of diet therapy and knowledge of diet therapy were asked and analyzed. The factor which affects HbA1c was intrinsic barriers and HbA1c became higher as the level of intrinsic barriers was increasing. The education on diet therapy had no influence on the intrinsic barriers, but the level of knowledge on diet therapy was shown higher in the educated patients. The above results suggest that the practice of diet therapy should be leaded to develop behavioral aspects through resonable motivation on dietary compliance along with removing intrinsic barriers rather than simply providing information.
The prevalence of obesity by measuring the amount of body fat and its related factors were investigated in 315 high school girls living in Seoul. Average body fat amount and body fat percentage measured by the body impedance analysis were 14.2$\pm$5.2kg and 25.9$\pm$7.0% respectively. Mean body mass index(BMI) was 2.1$\pm$2.7kg/m2 and 6.7% of the subjects showed over 25kg/m2 Correlative analysis reveal that the body fat percentage was significantly correlated to both relative body weight and BMI(r=0.66, P<0.01, r=0.68, P<0.01) Relative body weight of the subjects showed positive correlation to those of their mother and father. It was shown that many students skipped breakfast often and did not have a pleasant meal with enough time. There was no relationship between adiposity and dietary nutrient or energy intake. When subgroups of the subjects attending a non-vocational high school and those attending a vocational or technical school were compared obesity was more prevalent in the former. Therefore the burden caused by preparing the university entrance examination seems to play an important role in fat deposition.
The purposes of this study were to analyze the gap between foodservice personnel and inpatients, to urge foodservice providers to reconsider by identifying the problems in service delivery for customer satisfaction, and to deduce the priority for foodservice quality improvement. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : the average perception score of personnel (4.32 out of 5) was higher than that of customers (3.90). In particular, the customers' perceptions of 17 attributes, which included 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'nutrition and health-related information service', 'handling inpatient's complaint ASAP', 'delicious meals' and 'salty enough meals' and so on, was significantly lower than personnel's. Both service providers and customers perceived that 'personnel attitude' was the highest and 'meal quality' was the lowest among the 4 factors, but there was significant difference on 'meal quality'(p < .001), 'customer reception' (p < .001) and 'personnel attitude' (p < .05) between the two groups. As a results of quadrant analysis, 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'handling inpatient's complaints ASAP' and 'meal service according to doctor's orders were categorized into Quadrant A with meaning of high personnel's perceptions and low customers'. Therefore service providers have to perceive the gap between the two viewpoints and grant priority to these attributes in improving foodservice qualify. This thesis aimed to determine the effecting factors(eating pattern, working condition, stress, health care) that help maintain the health of the cosmetologists' digestive system and the diseases involved (acid reflux, indigestion, gastritis, constipation & diarrhea). The research methods included survey and statistical analysis. The survey was conducted on 242 cosmetologists from August 30 to October 30 2014. The data analysis included frequency, cross table, ${\chi}^2$-test, and regression with SPSS(V. 14). The results were as follows ; (1) The cosmetologists' health of digestive system and eating pattern are related. Regular and enough meal times cause less digestive disease. Acid reflux, indigestion, gastritis, constipation and diarrhea are differently related with the type of usual eating pattern, especially, instant food is not good for digestive health. (2) The cosmetologists' health of digestive system and working condition are related. Longer daily working hours and exposure time to chemical odors are more likely to be associated with digestive diseases; whereas, longer time of standing and talking with colleagues are less likely to be associated with digestive diseases. (3) The cosmetologists' health of digestive system and stress are related. Headache, boredom, conflict of pay and compensation, and insomnia are not good for digestive health. (4) The cosmetologists' health of digestive system and health care are related. Periodical medical examination and usual body stretching are correlated with digestive diseases; whereas, people who do regular exercise and bowel movement are less likely to have digestive diseases.
