  • This paper describes numerical research on transverse jet behind rearward-facing step in turbulent supersonic flowfields without chemical reaction. The purpose of transverse jet behind rearward-facing step is to improve mixing of the fuel in the combustor. Two-dimensional unsteady flowfields generated by slot injection into supersonic flow are numerically simulated by integration of Navier-Stokes equation. Final-scale turbulence effects are modeled with two-equation $\kappa-\epsilon$ model. Numerical methods are modeled high-order upwind TVDschemes. A total of 4 cases are computed, comprising slot momentum flux ratios at four step heights downstream of the step. These numerical results are represented periodic phenomenon in unsteady flowfields.

  • This study is carried out in order to evaluate the performances of the Reynolds stress turbulence models such as SSG and GL models in the calculation of separated flow over backward-facing stepp. In addition, two slow return-to-isotropy models, YA and Rotta models combined with rapid part of SSG model are also tested. The finite volume method is used to discretize the governing differential equations, and the power-law scheme is used to approximate the convection terms. The SIMPLE algorithm is used for pressure correction in the governing equations. The results show that SSG model gives the better prediction near the reattachment point than GL model. In cases that the rapid term of SSG model is combined with Rotta and YA slow models, the results show the better predictions of stress components in recirculation zone, but indicate inaccuracy in the predictions of mean velocity.

  • In order to constrain the railway roadbed settlement which causes track irregularity, and thus threats running stability and ride quality, advanced Back-to-Back (BTB) reinforced retaining wall was numerically analyzed as railway roadbed structure. This study is intended to improve conventional Back-to-Back reinforced retaining wall as the technology which would reduce the roadbed settlement in a way of constraining the lateral displacement of its prestressed vertical facing and inducing arching effects in roadbed (backfill) placed between masonry diaphragm wall and vertical facing. As a result of numerical analysis, it was found that the roadbed settlement was reduced by 10% due to the prestressed vertical facing and embedded masonry diaphragm wall of the advanced Back-to-Back reinforced retaining wall system.

  • Piezoelectric ZnO thin films by Facing Targets Sputtering(FTS) method were deposited on slide glass. The Facing Targets Sputtering system can deposit thin film at plasma-free condition and change the deposition condition in wide range. The characteristics of ZnO thin films changed with power, working pressure and substrate temperature were investigated by XRD(x-ray diffractometer), alpha-step(Tencor) and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) analyses. In the results, we suggest that FTS system is very suitable for the preparation of high quality ZnO thin films with good c-axis orientation.

  • ZnO(Zinc Oxide) thin films were deposited on glass substrate by Facing Targets Sputtering. Facing Targets Sputtering system can deposit thin films in plasma-free situation and change the sputtering conditions in wide range. The characteristics of ZnO thin films deposited at variation of sputtering conditions films thickness, power and substrate temperature were evaluated by XRD(x-ray diffractometer), ${\alpha}$-step (Tencor). The excellently c-axis oriented ZnO thin films were obtained at sputter pressure ImTorr, power 150W, substrate temperature 200$^{\circ}C$. In these conditions, the rocking curve of ZnO thin films deposited on glass was 3.3$^{\circ}$.

  • This study was conducted to investigate changes on burned areas after a forest fire in Geyjoksan which occurred in April 2000. Both soil physicochemical properties and vegetation present were analyzed in burned and unburned sites of pinus densiflora according to two slope aspects(south and north-facing slopes). The results of the analysis are as follows. The appearance species of vegetation were 21, 15 and 18 for burned site, burned site-1 and burned site-2 of pinus densiflora community respectively, indicating that the occurrence of forest fire and slope aspects affect vegetation appearance. The pH values at 0~10cm soil depth of unburned and burned sites of pinus densiflora community were 5.04 and 5.12 respectively with no significant difference between them. Mean organic matter, total nitrogen and available P also had no significant difference. This results indicate that the forest recover its former pH, total nitrogen, mean organic matter and available P over time after a forest fire. North-facing slope had relatively higher soil water content thus implying that its pH values of soil lower than south-facing slope. On the other hand, south-facing slope had high organic matter and available P content of soil as compared to north-facing slope. With south facing slope having high water contents, humus was accumulated due to slow organic matter decomposition. The pH values also decreased due to organic acids from humus. However, we observed that organic matter and P concentration in soil increased.

  • Al oped zinc oxide (AZO) films were prepared by Facing Targets Sputtering (FTS) system for TCO applications. The electrical, optical and structural properties of AZO thin films have been investigated with input current, oxygen gas flow ratio and substrate temperature. Deposition was carried out at room temperature and $200^{\circ}C$. Working gas pressures were fixed at 1mTorr. As a result, AZO thin film deposited with an optical transmittance over 80 % and a resistivity about $10^{-4}{Omega}{\cdot}cm$.
