  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the conditions of disability facilities in universities and to improve disability facilities for disabled students. First, we selected six universities in Jeollabukdo and categorized their accommodations into exterior connection facilities, interior facilities, sanitation facilities, guidance facilities, and other facilities. We evaluated their fidelity to guidelines on accommodations under the convenience enhancement act for students with disabilities. The physical environment of the universities generally did not fit the guidelines, and they did not provide an appropriate environment for students because of inconvenient utilization and lack of management, even though they were equipped. Universities should make a greater effort to improve and expand the accommodations to establish a consumer-centered higher-education environment. This can be done by universal design and enhancing the fidelity for an advanced higher-education environment and students with disabilities.

  • This study intends to conduct a thorough research and analysis on the designated temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims in order to bridge the gap between the temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims in country and city, and understand the current status of the designated temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims in rural and urban areas. As a result, the designated temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims in urban areas are bigger and have higher capacity, implying the necessity to designate facilities in rural areas that can accommodate larger number of people. As to the analysis of the representative temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims in rural areas, different regions had different types of designated facilities and the number of facilities also showed big difference depending on regions. So it is believed that local governments should improve the process and system of designating temporary residential facilities for the disaster victims.

Thus, the aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between the level of academic achievement and satisfaction of various spatial environment through survey. For that purpose, one university campus was selected and evaluation indexes were categorized into five major components of physical and experimental environment, later supported by factor analysis. Correlation analysis found that extracted factors were significantly interrelated to academic achievement. Further, regression analysis also explored sense of belonging as major predictor of academic achievement. Finally the study suggested that campus plan be approached carefully, because such experimental environment as diverse club activities at outdoor environment is a key element to academic achievement even though rated low scores in satisfaction.
