  • Recognition and Tracking of interesting object is the significant field in Computer Vision. Mean-Shift algorithm have chronic problems that some errors are occurred when histogram of tracking area is similar to another area. in this paper, we propose to solve the problem. Each algorithm blocks skin color filtering, face detect and Mean-Shift started consecutive order assists better operation of the next algorithm. Avoid to operations of the overhead of tracking area similar to a histogram distribution areas overlap only consider the number of white pixels by running the Viola-Jones algorithm, simple arithmetic increases the convergence of the Mean-Shift. The experimental results, it comes to 78% or more of white pixels in the Mean-Shift search area, only if the recognition of the face area when it is configured to perform a Viola-Jones algorithm is tracking the object, was 100 percent successful.

  • Vitiligo is a condition characterized by the destruction or dysfunction of melanin-producing cells in the skin, resulting in a loss of skin pigmentation. Facial vitiligo, specifically affecting the face, significantly impacts patients' appearance, thereby diminishing their quality of life. Evaluating the efficacy of facial vitiligo treatment typically relies on subjective assessments, such as the Facial Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (F-VASI), which can be time-consuming and subjective due to its reliance on clinical observations like lesion shape and distribution. Various machine learning and deep learning methods have been proposed for segmenting vitiligo areas in facial images, showing promising results. However, these methods often struggle to accurately segment vitiligo lesions irregularly distributed across the face. Therefore, our study introduces a framework aimed at improving the segmentation of vitiligo lesions on the face and providing an evaluation of vitiligo lesions. Our framework for facial vitiligo segmentation and lesion evaluation consists of three main steps. Firstly, we perform face detection to minimize background areas and identify the face area of interest using high-quality ultraviolet photographs. Secondly, we extract facial area masks and vitiligo lesion masks using a semantic segmentation network-based approach with the generated dataset. Thirdly, we automatically calculate the vitiligo area relative to the facial area. We evaluated the performance of facial and vitiligo lesion segmentation using an independent test dataset that was not included in the training and validation, showing excellent results. The framework proposed in this study can serve as a useful tool for evaluating the diagnosis and treatment efficacy of vitiligo.

  • For many years, researchers in face description area have been representing and recognizing faces based on different methods that include subspace discriminant analysis, statistical learning and non-statistics based approach etc. But still automatic face recognition remains an interesting but challenging problem. This paper presents a novel and efficient face image representation method based on Optimized Local Ternary Pattern (OLTP) texture features. The face image is divided into several regions from which the OLTP texture feature distributions are extracted and concatenated into a feature vector that can act as face descriptor. The recognition is performed using nearest neighbor classification method with Chi-square distance as a similarity measure. Extensive experimental results on Yale B, ORL and AR face databases show that OLTP consistently performs much better than other well recognized texture models for face recognition.

  • Many recent events, such as terrorist attacks, exposed defects in most sophisticated security systems. Therefore, it is necessary to improve security data systems based on the body or behavioral characteristics, often called biometrics. Together with the growing interest in the development of human and computer interface and biometric identification, human face recognition has become an active research area. Face recognition appears to offer several advantages over other biometric methods. Nowadays, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been widely adopted for the face recognition algorithm. Yet still, PCA has limitations such as poor discriminatory power and large computational load. This paper proposes a novel algorithm for face recognition using a mid band frequency component of partial information which is used for PCA representation. Because the human face has even symmetry, half of a face is sufficient for face recognition. This partial information saves storage and computation time. In comparison with the traditional use of PCA, the proposed method gives better recognition accuracy and discriminatory power. Furthermore, the proposed method reduces the computational load and storage significantly.

  • Since the face has a unique property to identify human, the face recognition is actively used in a security area and an authentication area such as access control, criminal search, and CCTV. The frontal face image has the most face information. Therefore, it is necessary to acquire the front face image as much as possible for face recognition. In this study, the face region is detected using the Adaboost algorithm using Haar-like feature and tracks it using the mean-shifting algorithm. Then, the feature points of the facial elements such as the eyes and the mouth are extracted from the face region, and the ratio of the two eyes and degree of rotation of the face is calculated using their geographical information, and the approximate front face image is presented in real time.

  • It is Face recognition is a very important process in image monitoring and it is a form of biometric technology. The recognition process involves many variables and is highly complex, so the software development has only begun recently with the development of hardware. Face detection technology using the CCTV is a process that precedes face analysis, and it is a technique that detects where the face is in the image. Research in face detection and recognition has been difficult because the human face reacts sensitively to different environmental conditions, such as lighting, color of skin, direction, angle and facial expression. The utility and importance of face recognition technology is coming into the limelight over time, but many aspects are being overlooked in the facial area detection technology that must precede face recognition. The system in this paper can detect tilted faces that cannot be detected by the AdaBoost detector and It could also be used to detect other objects.

  • This paper presents face recognition algorithm using projection vector reflecting local feature for the area in contour lines. The outline shape of a face has many difficulties to distinguish people because human has similar face shape. For 3 dimensional(3D) face images include depth information, we can extract different face shapes from the nose tip using some depth values for a face image. In this thesis deals with 3D face image, because the extraction of contour lines from 2 dimensional face images is hard work. After finding nose tip, we extract two areas in the contour lilies from some depth values from 3D face image which is obtained by 3D laser scanner. And we propose a method of projection vector to localize the characteristics of image and reduce the number of index data in database. Euclidean distance is used to compare of similarity between two images. Proposed algorithm can be made recognition rate of 94.3% for face shapes using depth information.

  • This paper proposed the face tracking method which can be effectively applied to the robot's vision system. The proposed algorithm tracks the facial areas after detecting the area of video motion. Movement detection of video images is done by using median filter and erosion and dilation operation as a method for removing noise, after getting the different images using two continual frames. To extract the skin color from the moving area, the color information of sample images is used. The skin color region and the background area are separated by evaluating the similarity by generating membership functions by using MIN-MAX values as fuzzy data. For the face candidate region, the eyes are detected from C channel of color space CMY, and the mouth from Q channel of color space YIQ. The face region is tracked seeking the features of the eyes and the mouth detected from knowledge-base. Experiment includes 1,500 frames of the video images from 10 subjects, 150 frames per subject. The result shows 95.7% of detection rate (the motion areas of 1,435 frames are detected) and 97.6% of good face tracking result (1,401 faces are tracked).

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method for face recognition which uses polar coordinate instead of conventional cartesian coordinate. Among the central area of a face, we select a point as a pole and make a polar image of a face by evenly sampling pixels in each direction of 360 degrees around the pole. By applying conventional feature extraction methods to the polar image, the recognition rates are improved. The polar coordinate delineates near-pole area more vividly than the area far from the pole. In a face, important regions such as eyes, nose and mouth are concentrated on the central part of a face. Therefore, the polar coordinate of a face image can achieve more vivid representation of important facial regions compared to the conventional cartesian coordinate. The proposed polar coordinate transform was applied to Yale and FRGC databases and LDA and NLDA were used to extract features afterwards. The experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than the conventional cartesian images.

  • Purpose: The golden ratio has been used for a long time to objectify and quantify 'beauty'. Dr. Marqurardt claims that the golden ratio can be applied in the maxillofacial field as well. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic significance of using a facial 'phi' mask for analyzing Korean faces with characteristics of Class I, II, and III malocclusion. Methods: We studied twenty five Korean celebrities' frontal facial photos (10 males, 15 females) and 90 malocclusion patients' frontal facial photos (30 patients in each malocclusion classification: Class I, Class II, and Class III). Patients who received orthodontic treatment at Samsung Medical Center were selected for this study. After superimposition of the selected facial photo and facial 'phi' mask using Adobe Photoshop CS3, the ratio of the entire facial area, mid facial area, lower facial area and horizontal and vertical lengths were measured. Results: The facial ratio in photos of Korean faces showed larger vertical and horizontal ratios than the facial 'phi' mask with golden ratio, regardless of skeletal malocclusion (entire face: 115%, lower face: 125% larger than the mask). The results of the frontal photos of Class I, II, and III malocclusion patients using facial 'phi' mask showed that the vertical length and frontal face area was more significantly influenced by the area of the lower face than the midface. This means that the lower face has larger proportions in the facial areas. Conclusion: The ratio of facial 'phi' mask is matched with the ideal facial appearance that the contemporary Korean general public is seeking. Thus, the facial 'phi' mask may be a convenient tool for esthetic analysis of Korean faces. Reducing the area of the lower face is esthetically more desirable for almost all Korean people when planning orthognathic surgery.
