  • The purposes of the research were to find out the clothing construction factors of the mechanical industry working clothes by analyzing the working clothes supplied to 5 subject companies; and to suggest the optimized sewing conditions and the seam strength and elongation experimental data according to the clothing material and seam types implied to the working clothes collected. The fabric types and trimmings used for the mechanical manufacturing working clothes were Polyester/Cotton(65/35%), Polyester/Rayon(65/35%), Cotton(100%); and linings, interlining, various fastenings etc. 2 stitch types, i.e. lock and two-thread chain stitches were applied to the construction of the flat, lap felled, French, superimposed, lapped and bound seams for the seam strength and elongation experiment. The results derived from the experiment were as follows. (1) The seam strength results according to the seam types were high in the order of lap felled>lapped>flat, superimposed and French seams. (2) Considering the features of the seam construction, as the number of fabric layers at the seam line increased the seam strength also increased. (3) Apart from the highest seam strength from the experiment using the net lining with the main fabric, the seam construction consisting of two fabric layers with the interlining showed relatively high seam strength results. (4) The seam elongations according to the stitch types were high in the order of two-thread chain>lock stitches.

  • The Korean textile industry faces a crisis, and overseas expansion is increasing. Indonesia, the third trading partner in the Korean textile industry, is the fifth largest country in terms of Korea's direct investment. This study intends to suggest a development strategy for Korean fabric mills to advance into Indonesia. First, the SWOT representative factors of the fabric mills considering the circumstances of Indonesia were derived through literature research and expert meeting. In order to derive the priority among these, AHP analysis was performed to derive the final weight and priority of the SWOT factors. Through this, I would like to suggest a management strategy that can be helpful to companies that have already entered Indonesia and are planning to enter the country in the future.

  • This study aims to propose a prediction model for the drape coefficient using artificial neural networks and to analyze the nonlinear relationship between the drape properties and physical properties of fabrics. The study validates the significance of each factor affecting the fabric drape through multiple linear regression analysis with a sample size of 573. The analysis constructs a model with an adjusted R2 of 77.6%. Seven main factors affect the drape coefficient: Grammage, extruded length values for warp and weft (mwarp, mweft), coefficients of quadratic terms in the tensile-force quadratic graph in the warp, weft, and bias directions (cwarp, cweft, cbias), and force required for 1% tension in the warp direction (fwarp). Finally, an artificial neural network was created using seven selected factors. The performance was examined by increasing the number of hidden neurons, and the most suitable number of hidden neurons was found to be 8. The mean squared error was .052, and the correlation coefficient was .863, confirming a satisfactory model. The developed artificial neural network model can be used for engineering and high-quality clothing design. It is expected to provide essential data for clothing appearance, such as the fabric drape.

  • The long-tenn exposure of polymeric composite materials to extreme-use environments, such as pressure, temperature, moisture, and load cycles, results in changes in the original properties of the material. In this study, the effect of combined environmental factors such as ultraviolet ray, high temperature and high moisture on mechanical and thermal analysis properties of glass fabric and phenolic composites are evaluated through a 2.5 KW accelerated environmental aging tester. The environmental factors such as temperature, moisture and ultraviolet ray applied of specimens. A xenon-arc lamp is utilized for ultraviolet light and exposure time of up to 3000 hours are applied. Several types of specimens - tensile, bending, and shear specimens that are warp direction and fill direction are used to investigate the effects of environmental factors on mechanical properties of the composites. Mechanical degradations for tensile, bending and shear properties are evaluated through a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Also, storage shear modulus, loss shear modulus and tan a are measured as a function of exposure time through a Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA). From the experimental results, changes in material properties of glass fabric and phenolic composites are shown to be slightly degraded due to combined environmental effects.

  • Assessing soil removal is of interest to the washing machine industry because of government-mandated energy savings and changes in detergent formulation and consumer laundry practices. We designed this study to examine the laundry process from a holistic perspective by integrating factors perceived to be of importance. Our purpose was to assess the impact of selected variables (fabric and soil type, wash temperature and time. detergent amount, and degree of agitation) on soil removal using accelerated laundry conditions. We used the Taguchi method to develop the research design and ANOVA to analyze the data. Although soil removal was affected by fabric type, soil type, type and amount of detergent, degree of agitation, wash time and temperature, and water hardness and volume, wash temperature was the most significant variable.

  • This report deals with the relations between the vibration restraint and the stress-strain properties of the stretch fabrics. For this purpose, a survey was carried out about the preferences in sports-brassiere. Six experimental sports-brassieres of an equal design, but of different materials were tested for vibration using an accelerometer and a motion analyzer while the subject is jogging. 1. The results of the survey on sports-brassiere preferences are as follows; Preferable factors are simple design, shield and close adhesion of sports brassiere. Dissatisfied factors on the sports-brassiere are drooping, vibrating of the breast, itching and wetting. The B-cup-size group perceive the bigger vibration and drooping than A-cup-size. 2. The results of the wearing tests are as follow; This experiment shows the vibration restraint effects on different stretch fabrics, such as hard, medium and soft nature. There was a linear relationship between the vibration restraint and combination of different types of stretch fabrics. Among different brassiere types, the 2-layered brassiere (inner layer of high tension fabric and outer layer of lower stretch fabric) showed the least vibration. In the case of 2-lay brassiere, the wearing comfort rate was highest.
