The present study aims to investigate the fluorination of thorium oxide ($ThO_2$) by ammonium hydrogen difluoride ($NH_4HF_2$). Fluorination was performed at room temperature by mixing $ThO_2$ and $NH_4HF_2$ at different molar ratios, which was then left to react for 20 days. Next, the mixtures were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) at the intervals of 5, 10, 15, and 20 days, followed by the heating of the mixtures at $450-750^{\circ}C$ with argon gas flow. The characterization of $ThF_4$ was established using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-dispersion X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). In this study, ammonium thorium fluoride was synthesized through the fluorination of $ThO_2$ at room temperature. The optimum molar ratio in synthesizing ammonium thorium fluoride was 1.0:5.5 ($ThO_2:NH_4HF_2$) with 5 days reaction time. In addition, the heating of ammonium thorium fluoride at $450^{\circ}C$ was sufficient to produce $ThF_4$. Overall, this study proved that $NH_4HF_2$ is one of the fluorination agents that is capable of synthesizing $ThF_4$.
The purposes of this study were to evaluate the microtensile bond strength of one-step adhesives accord ing to various dentin surface treatments and to observe the interface between resin(Z-100$^{TM}$) and dentin under SEM. In this study forty-five non-caries extracted human molars and three adhesive systems were used ; AlI-Bond 2(AB), One-Up Bond F(OU), AQ-Bond(AQ). ; In Group 1, 2, 3, AB was used and tooth surfaces were treated by smearing(S), ultrasonic cleansing(US), etching(E) respectively. In Group 4. 5, 6, One-Up Bond F was used and tooth surfaces were also treated as the same way above. In Groups 7, 8, 9, AQ Bond was used and tooth surfaces wet$.$e treated as the same way. Each specimen was prepared for microtensile bond testing, and were stored for 24hrs in 37$^{\circ}C$ distilled water. After that, microtensile bond strength for each specimen was measured. Specimens were fabricated to examine the failure patterns of interface between resin and dentin and observed under the SEM. The results were as follows ; 1. The results(mean$\pm$SD) of microtensile test were group 1, 25.69$\pm$4.31MPa; group 2, 40.93$\pm$10.94MPa; group 3, 47.65$\pm$8.85MPa; group 4, 35.98$\pm$9.14MPa; group 5, 39.66$\pm$8.45MPa; group 6, 43.26$\pm$13.01MPa; group 7, 25.07$\pm$4.2MPa;group 8, 30.4$\pm$4.74MPa;group 9, 33.61$\pm$7.88MPa. 2. One-Up Bond F was showed the highest value of 36.98$\pm$9.14MPa in dentin surface treatment with smearing, and there were significant differences to the other groups (p<0.05). 3. All-Bond 2 was showed the highest value of 40.93$\pm$10.94MPa in dentin surface treatment with ultra-sonic cleansing, but was no significant difference to One-Up Bond F(p>0.05) 4. All-Bond 2 was showed the highest value of 47.65$\pm$8.85MPa in dentin surface treatment with etch ing(10%phosphoric acid), and there were significant differences to the other groups(p<0.05). 5. All-Bond 2 was showed the highest value of 47.65$\pm$8.85MPa in dentin surface treatment according to manufacture's directions. but was no significant difference to One-Up Bond F(p>0.05). 6. AQ Bond was skewed the lowest microtensile bond strength with various dentin surface treatment, and the were significant differences to the other groups(p<0.05).
It is thought that the adsorption isotherms in dyeing of cellulose by the direct cotton dyes are consisted of combined type of Langmuir and Freundlich as the opinion of Fujino, et al;$[D]_F=ab[D]_S/(1+b[D]_S)+k[D]_S$where a,b,k; constants, $[D]_F$; dye adsorption on the fiber, $[D]_S$; dye concentration in the bath. This means that the dyes adsorbed in cellulose present in the state of partly mono molecular and partly aggregate; the characteristic fading order curve will be expressed as the combined system of uniform particle size distribution and assumed that the slope of the theoretical models of Baxter, et al., and assumed that the slope of curve will be changed near the point of a, the saturation value of Langmuir isotherms in the above equation. Firstly, the theoretical fading rate curve was treated with small colour difference as the one step of experimental of above consideration.
We have studied the structures and stabilities of Au6 to explore the origin of the large discrepancy between relative energies obtained from the density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio correlated levels of theory. The MP2 methods significantly overestimate the stability of the non-planar isomer when the double-$\zeta$ polarization quality of basis sets, such as LANL2DZ+1f and CEP31G+1f, are used. However, we show that such preference for the non-planar structure at the MP2 level mainly originates from the large basis set superposition error.
In this study we report the results of ab initio first-principles calculations to investigate the possibility of metamagnetic behavior in Fe$_3$Al alloy. We used the WIEN2k package of full-potential linearized-augmented- plane-wave method within the local-spin-density approximation to the density-functional theory. The exchange-correlation functional is the generalized-gradient approximation of Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof. The theoretical lattice constant, which is about 0.5% smaller than the experimental one, is obtained by minimizing the total energy. If the volume decreases about 9 % from the equilibrium, the total magnetic moment decreases abruptly from 4.6 $\mu_{B}$/f.u. to 4.0 $\mu_{B}$/f.u. Since this change is considerably large (∼14%), it is possible to measure by a simple high-pressure experiment at about 180 kbar.
A total of 1033 Brown Swiss and 610 Canadienne cows were phenotyped for the genetic variants ${\alpha}_{s1}$-casein, ${\beta}$-casein, ${\kappa}$-casein, ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin and ${\alpha}$-lactalbumin. In Brown Swiss, frequency distributions were: 97.3% B and 2.7% C variant of ${\alpha}_{s1}$-casein; 31.6% $A^1$, 51.8% $A^2$, 0.5% $A^3$ and 16.1% B variant of ${\beta}$-casein; 70.4% A, 29.3% B, and 0.3% C variant of ${\kappa}$-casein; 41.7% A and 58.3% B variant of ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin; and 100% B variant of ${\alpha}$-lactalbumin. Corresponding frequencies in Canadienne for those five milk proteins were: 98.6 and 1.4%;58.5, 33.5, 0.08 and 7.9%; 78.8, 21.1 and 0.1%, 42.4 and 57.6%; and 100%. Analysis of variance by least squares showed possible association between milk protein phenotypes and some lactational production traits. There were no significant association of phenotypes of ${\alpha}_{s1}$-casein, ${\beta}$-casein and ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin with milk yield, fat yield, protein yield, fat percentage and protein percentage in both breeds during the three lactations. In the Brown Swiss, ${\kappa}$-casein phenotype was associated with 305-day fat yield and protein yield during the first lactation. ${\kappa}$-Casein AB was associated with higher milk, fat and protein yield during the second lactation. During the third lactation, ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin AA in Canadienne cows was associated with higher protein content in the milk (3.70%) when compared to phenotypes AB (3.54%) and BB (3.64%).
Oviduct-specific glycoprotein 1 (OVGP1) is implicated in playing a role in fertilization and early embryo development. In this study, we have obtained the sequence of intron 9 of OVGP1 gene in swine. Comparative sequencing of Meishan (a native Chinese breed) and Large White pig breeds revealed an A/T substitution at position 943. A PCR-EcoRI-RFLP assay was developed to detect this mutation. Polymorphism analysis in Qingping animals showed that pigs with BB genotype had lower number of piglets born alive (NBA) in multiple parities than pigs with AA (p<0.05) and AB genotype (p<0.01). In Large $White{\times}Meishan$ ($LW{\times}M$) $F_2$ offspring, the weight of both ovaries (OW) of the BB genotype was significantly lighter than that of AB (p = 0.05) and AA (p<0.01) genotypes. Analysis of the data also revealed that the mutation locus affected these two traits mostly by additive effects. These studies indicated that the polymorphism was associated with NBA and OW in two distinct populations and further investigations in more purebreds or crossbreds are needed to confirm these results.
Anti-hepatocyte growth factor (anti-HGF) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are potential therapeutics against various cancers. Screening for high-producer clones is a time-consuming and complex process and is a major hurdle in the development of therapeutic mAbs. Here, we describe an efficient approach that allows the selection of high-producer Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines producing the novel anti-HGF mAb SFN68, which was generated previously by immunizing HGF bound to its receptor c-Met. We selected an SFN68-producing parental cell line via transfection of the dihydrofolate reductase-deficient CHO cell line DG44, which was preadapted to serum-free suspension culture, with an SFN68-expression vector. Subsequent gene amplification via multiple passages of the parental cell line in a methotrexate-containing medium over 4 weeks, followed by clonal isolation, enabled us to isolate two cell lines, 2F7 and 2H4, with 3-fold higher specific productivity. We also screened 72 different media formulated with diverse feed and basal media to develop a suboptimized medium. In the established suboptimized medium, the highest anti-HGF mAb yields of the 2F7 and 2H4 clones were 842 and 861 mg/l, respectively, which were about 10.5-fold higher than that of the parental cell line in a non-optimized basal medium. The selected CHO cell lines secreting high titers of SFN68 would be useful for the production of sufficient amounts of antibodies for efficacy evaluation in preclinical and early clinical studies.
