In this paper, a new opto-digital multiple information hiding and real-time extracting system is implemented. That is, multiple information is hidden in a cover image by using the stego keys which are generated by combined use of random sequence(RS) and Hadamard matrix(HM) and these hidden information is extracted in real-time by using a new optical correlator-based extraction system. In the experiment, 3 kinds of information, English alphabet of "N", "R", "L" having 512$\times$512 pixels, are formulated 8$\times$8 blocks and each of these information is multiplied with the corresponding stego keys having 64$\times$64 pixels one by one. And then, by adding these modulated data to a cover image of "Lena"having 512$\times$512 pixels, a stego image is finally generated. In this paper, as an extraction system, a new optical nonlinear joint transform correlator(NJTC) is introduced to extract the hidden data from a stego image in real-time, in which optical correlation between the stego image and each of the stego keys is performed and from these correlation outputs the hidden data can be asily exacted in real-time. Especially, it is found that the SNRs of the correlation outputs in the proposed optical NJTC-based extraction system has been improved to 7㏈ on average by comparison with those of the conventional JTC system under the condition of having a nonlinear parameter less than k=0.4. This good experimental results might suggest a possibility of implementation of an opto-digital multiple information hiding and real-time extracting system.

The applicability of the ultrasonic wave method to the extraction of useful components from seaweeds was investigated. Extracts from freeze-dried Ecklonia cava powder were prepared with hot water ($65^{\circ}C$), water ($24^{\circ}C$), 50% ethanol, and 100% ethanol, and ultrasonic extraction was also performed. The content of phenolic compounds and the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity of the extracts were analyzed, and differences in the data obtained by the ultrasonic extraction and the traditional extraction methods were compared. The phenolic content in the E. cava extract by ultrasonic extraction (142.80 mg/g) was approximately 14 times higher than the phenolic content in the hot water extract (10.03 mg/g). The DPPH radical scavenging and the tyrosinase inhibitory activities of the ultrasonic extract were approximately 4 times and 14 times higher than the hot water extracts, respectively. The correlation between the phenolic content and the DPPH radical scavenging activity ($R^2$=99.47) and between the phenolic content and the tyrosinase inhibitory activity ($R^2$=99.99) was very high. These results indicate that ultrasonic extraction is more suitable than traditional extraction for the extraction of useful components from E. cava.
Development of automated document management system specified for scanned invoice images suffers from rigorous accuracy requirements for extraction of monetary data, which necessiate automatic validation on the extracted values for a generative invoice table model. Use of certain internal constraints such as "amount = unit price times quantity" is typical implementation. In this paper, we propose a noble invoice information extraction model with improved auto-validation method by utilizing table header detection and column classification.

This paper proposes an efficient feature extraction of the image data using nonlinear principal component analysis neural networks of a new learning algorithm. The proposed method is a learning algorithm with momentum for reflecting the past trends. It is to get the better performance by restraining an oscillation due to converge the global optimum. The proposed algorithm has been applied to the cancer image of $256{\times}256$ pixels and the coin image of $128{\times}128$ pixels respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performances of the convergence and the nonlinear feature extraction, in comparison with those using the backpropagation and the conventional nonlinear PCA neural networks.

Objectives : This study was performed to compare the differences between decoctions extracted by different extraction method and extraction time. Methods : Decoctions were prepared with pressed or non-pressed extraction conditions for 60, 120 and 180min. The yields of extracts, sugar contents, hydrogen ion concentrations(pH), the contents of reference compounds in Yukmijihwang-tang(Liuweidihuang-tang) were investigated. Results : The yields and the dissolved solid content containing sugar content of decoctions were more in pressed extraction method than unpressed extraction method, and they tended to be increased as extraction time increased. The pH values of decoctions methods did not show significant differences between pressed and unpressed extraction methods or extraction times. Most of reference compounds showed higher contents in pressed extraction method than unpressed extraction method and their contents were augmented according to increase of extraction time. The content of paeonol was decreased when extracted in more than 120min with pressed extraction method and tended to be decreased as extraction time increased in unpressed extraction method. Conclusions : The pressed extraction with long extraction time could be useful for decoction of Yukmijihwang-tang(Liuweidihuang-tang). However, another ingredients possible to decrease in such condition need to be considered to determine suitable extraction condition.

In this study, the optimization of extraction parameters (solvent, temperature, time, solvent concentration) for the maximization of polyphenol extraction was performed to produce value-added food and cosmetic additives using a byproduct of coffee extraction process (coffee residue). All of the extraction parameters evaluated in this experiment had significant effects on polyphenol extraction and the results showed the effect of NaOH concentration on the polyphenol production was most significant among tested parameters. Especially, hot water extraction using acid or base was effective rather than hot-water extraction and the addition of 0.1 mol of NaOH increased 1.5 times extraction concentration compared with hot-water extraction using distilled water. It was found that hot-water extraction with NaOH was more effective than hot-water extraction, and 36.5 mg GAE/g DM was obtained under optimum condition of $100^{\circ}C$, 2 mol of NaOH and 30 min. This result was 2.9 times higher than that of 12.5 mg GAE/g DM obtained from the hot-water extraction before optimization. Thus, coffee residue could be used for food and cosmetic industry as a high-value additive such as antioxidant.

Recently, silk sericin has attracted the attention of researchers owing to its useful properties as a biomaterial including 1) good wound healing and cell activities, 2) fast gelation character, and 3) high water retention property. In the present study, silk sericin was prepared using different extraction times in hot water and the effect of extraction time on the rheological properties of sericin solutions and gels was examined. It was found that the production yield of sericin increased with extraction time. The shear viscosity of sericin solutions and gels decreased with increasing extraction time due to a decrease in sericin molecular weight. When the sericin solution transformed to a gel, the viscosity increased and the shear thinning behavior was more evident. In addition, the shear stress measurements indicated that the slip between the sericin samples and the measuring plate of the rheometer was increased by the gelation of sericin. The compression strength of sericin gel could be increased remarkably (by more than 100 fold) by preparation using the freezing and thawing method.

In order to compare the extraction patterns of main components from the raw material between the extraction methods, the aerial parts (dried stem, leaves, and flowers) of Agastache rugosa were extracted by SDE simultaneous steam distillation & extraction) and SFE (supercritical fluid extraction). Volatile components of essential oil and extract were identified by GC and GC-MSD. The contents of essential oil extracted by SDE were 0.49% in aerial part of Agastache rugosa on dry basis. Major components were methyl chavicol(27.2%), isomenthone(24.6%), hexadecanoic acid(13.0%). menthone (5.5%) among 32 kinds of components confirmed in essential oil. On the other hand, the contents of SFE extracts revealed 3.21% on dry basis, 6 times higher than those of SDE. Major components were isomenthone(15.3%), hexadecanoic acid(13.7%), methyl chavicol(12.6%), benzoic acid(3.8%) among 33 kinds of components identified in extract.
A high performance liquid chromatographic method was designed for the quantitative analysis of oxymatrine in Sophora Radix. The separation of oxymatrine was performed by reversed-phase chromatography with a $C_{18}$ column and a buffered aqueous solution containing acetonitrile, and monitored by UV absorption at 215 nm. Extraction of oxymatrine in Sophora Radix was carried out using various solvents and extraction methods. The optimum extraction efficiency for the crushed Sophora Radix was achieved by reflux at $80^{\circ}C$ in 50% ethanol for five hours. Most extraction methods used to complicate pretreatments. In this study, sublimation was employed for a extraction method without going through complicate pretreatments. Sublimation was carried out under high vacuum ($1{\times}10^{-3}$ torr) and at high temperature ($200^{\circ}C$). Extraction efficiency using Sublimation was found to be inferior to other extraction methods.
