Recently efforts to extract information about forests by using remote sensing techniques for efficient forest management have progressed actively. In terms of extraction of tree information using single remote sensing data, however, the accuracy of tree recognition and the quantity of extracted information is limited. The objective of this study is to carry out tree modeling in domestic environment applying the latest core technique for tree modeling using color aerial photographs and LiDAR data and to estimate the result of tree modeling. A small-scale coniferous forest was investigated in Daejeon. It was 0.77 that the $R^2$ of accuracy test of tree numbers that estimated with color aerial photography and LiDAR data. In terms of tree height, there was no difference between the estimated value and the field measurements in the case of the group accuracy test of the recently unchanged area. Moreover $R^2$ was 0.83 in the case of the individual accuracy test.
Struvite (MgNH4PO4 ⋅ 6H2O) and hydroxyapatite (HAP, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) precipitation in urine-separating toilets (NoMix toilets) causes severe maintenance problems and also reduce the phosphate and calcium content. Application of urine separating technique and extraction of by-products from human urine is a cost effective technique in waste water treatment. In this study, we extract urine calcite from human urine by batch scale method, using urease producing microbes to trigger the precipitation and calcite formation process. Extracted urine calcite (calcining at 800℃) is a potential adsorbent for removal of heavy metal(loid)s like (Cd2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Zn2+ and As3+) along with additional leaching analysis of total nitrogen (T-N), phosphate (T-P) and chemical oxygen demand (COD). The transformations of calcite during synthesis were confirm by characterization using XRD, SEM-EDAX and FT-IR techniques. In additional, the phosphate leaching potential and adsorbate (nitrate) efficiency in aqueous solution was investigated using the calcinedurine calcite. The results indicate that the calcite was effectively remove heavy metal(loid)s lead up to 96.8%. In addition, the adsorption capacity (qe) of calcite was calculated and it was found to be 203.64 Pb, 110.96 Cd, 96.02 Zn, 104.2 As, 149.54 Cu and 162.68 Ni mg/g, respectively. Hence, we suggest that the calcite obtain from the human urine will be a suitable absorbent for heavy metal(loid)s removal from aqueous solution.
Analysis of research trends in specific subject areas is performed by examining related topics and subject changes by using topic modeling techniques through keyword extraction for most of the literature information (paper, patents, etc.). Unlike existing research methods, this paper extracts topics related to the research topic using the LDA topic modeling technique for the project information of national R&D projects provided by the National Science and Technology Knowledge Information Service (NTIS) in the field of artificial intelligence. By analyzing these topics, this study aims to analyze research topics and investment directions for national R&D projects. NTIS provides a vast amount of national R&D information, from information on tasks carried out through national R&D projects to research results (thesis, patents, etc.) generated through research. In this paper, the search results were confirmed by performing artificial intelligence keywords and related classification searches in NTIS integrated search, and basic data was constructed by downloading the latest three-year project information. Using the LDA topic modeling library provided by Python, related topics and keywords were extracted and analyzed for basic data (research goals, research content, expected effects, keywords, etc.) to derive insights on the direction of research investment.

Deep learning techniques have been proven to have high performance in image processing and are applied in various fields. The most widely used methods for validating a deep learning model include a holdout verification method, a k-fold cross verification method, and a bootstrap method. These legacy methods consider the balance of the ratio between classes in the process of dividing the data set, but do not consider the ratio of various features that exist within the same class. If these features are not considered, verification results may be biased toward some features. Therefore, we propose a deep learning model validation method based on data feature coverage for image classification by improving the legacy methods. The proposed technique proposes a data feature coverage that can be measured numerically how much the training data set for training and validation of the deep learning model and the evaluation data set reflects the features of the entire data set. In this method, the data set can be divided by ensuring coverage to include all features of the entire data set, and the evaluation result of the model can be analyzed in units of feature clusters. As a result, by providing feature cluster information for the evaluation result of the trained model, feature information of data that affects the trained model can be provided.
The waveform data of the Airborne Bathymetric LiDAR (ABL; LiDAR: Light Detection And Ranging) system provides data with improved accuracy, resolution, and reliability compared to the discrete-return data, and increases the user's control over data processing. Furthermore, we are able to extract additional information about the return signal. Waveform decomposition is a technique that separates each echo from the received waveform with a mixture of water surface and seabed reflections, waterbody backscattering, and various noises. In this study, a new waveform decomposition technique based on a Gaussian model was developed to improve the point extraction performance from the ABL waveform data. In the existing waveform decomposition techniques, the number of decomposed echoes and decomposition performance depend on the peak detection results because they use waveform peaks as initial values. However, in the study, we improved the approximation accuracy of the decomposition model by adding the estimated potential peak candidates to the initial peaks. As a result of an experiment using waveform data obtained from the East Coast from the Seahawk system, the precision of the decomposition model was improved by about 37% based on evaluating RMSE compared to the Gaussian decomposition method.
The optical character recognition (OCR) is a technique to extract and recognize texts from images. It is an important preprocessing step in data analysis since most actual text information is embedded in images. Many OCR engines have high recognition accuracy for images where texts are clearly separable from background, such as white background and black lettering. However, they have low recognition accuracy for images where texts are not easily separable from complex background. To improve this low accuracy problem with complex images, it is necessary to transform the input image to make texts more noticeable. In this paper, we propose a method to segment an input image into text lines to enable OCR engines to recognize each line more efficiently, and to determine the final output by comparing the recognition rates of CLAHE module and Two-step module which distinguish texts from background regions based on image processing techniques. Through thorough experiments comparing with well-known OCR engines, Tesseract and Abbyy, we show that our proposed method have the best recognition accuracy with complex background images.
As the Internet developed, various and complex cyber attacks began to emerge. Various detection systems were used outside the network to defend against attacks, but systems and studies to detect attackers inside were remarkably rare, causing great problems because they could not detect attackers inside. To solve this problem, studies on the lateral movement detection system that tracks and detects the attacker's movements have begun to emerge. Especially, the method of using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is simple but shows very good results. Nevertheless, previous studies did not consider the effects and relationships of each logon host itself, and the features presented also provided very low results in some models. There was also a problem that the model could not explain why it predicts that way, which resulted in reliability and robustness problems of the model. To address this problem, this study proposes an interpretable RDP-based lateral movement detection system using page rank algorithm and SHAP(Shapley Additive Explanations). Using page rank algorithms and various statistical techniques, we create features that can be used in various models and we provide explanations for model prediction using SHAP. In this study, we generated features that show higher performance in most models than previous studies and explained them using SHAP.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate convolutional neural network models and computer vision techniques for the classification of swine posture with high accuracy and to use the derived result in the investigation of the effect of dietary fiber level on the behavioral characteristics of the pregnant sow under low and high ambient temperatures during the last stage of gestation. A total of 27 crossbred sows (Yorkshire × Landrace; average body weight, 192.2 ± 4.8 kg) were assigned to three treatments in a randomized complete block design during the last stage of gestation (days 90 to 114). The sows in group 1 were fed a 3% fiber diet under neutral ambient temperature; the sows in group 2 were fed a diet with 3% fiber under high ambient temperature (HT); the sows in group 3 were fed a 6% fiber diet under HT. Eight popular deep learning-based feature extraction frameworks (DenseNet121, DenseNet201, InceptionResNetV2, InceptionV3, MobileNet, VGG16, VGG19, and Xception) used for automatic swine posture classification were selected and compared using the swine posture image dataset that was constructed under real swine farm conditions. The neural network models showed excellent performance on previously unseen data (ability to generalize). The DenseNet121 feature extractor achieved the best performance with 99.83% accuracy, and both DenseNet201 and MobileNet showed an accuracy of 99.77% for the classification of the image dataset. The behavior of sows classified by the DenseNet121 feature extractor showed that the HT in our study reduced (p < 0.05) the standing behavior of sows and also has a tendency to increase (p = 0.082) lying behavior. High dietary fiber treatment tended to increase (p = 0.064) lying and decrease (p < 0.05) the standing behavior of sows, but there was no change in sitting under HT conditions.

With the development of machine learning techniques, various types of data such as vibration, temperature, and flow rate can be used to detect and diagnose abnormalities in machine conditions. In particular, in the field of the state monitoring of rotating machines, the fault diagnosis of machines using vibration data has long been carried out, and the methods are also very diverse. In this study, an experiment was conducted to collect vibration data from normal and abnormal compressors by installing accelerometers directly on rotary compressors used in household air conditioners. Data segmentation was performed to solve the data shortage problem, and the main features for the fault classification model were extracted through the chi-square test after statistical and physical features were extracted from the vibration data in the time domain. The support vector machine (SVM) model was developed to classify the normal or abnormal conditions of compressors and improve the classification accuracy through the hyperparameter optimization of the SVM.

Virtual reality simulations are used for education and training in various fields, and are especially widely used in the medical field recently. The education/training simulator consists of tactile/force feedback generation and image/sound output hardware that provides a sense similar to a doctor's treatment of a real patient using real surgical tools, and software that produces realistic images and tactile feedback. Existing simulators are complicated and expensive because they have to use various types of hardware to simulate various surgical instruments used during surgery. In this paper, we propose a dental surgical simulation system using a force feedback device and a morphable haptic controller. Haptic hardware determines whether the surgical tool collides with the surgical site and provides a sense of resistance and vibration. In particular, haptic controllers that can be deformed, such as length changes and bending, can express various senses felt depending on the shape of various surgical tools. When the user manipulates the haptic feedback device, events such as movement of the haptic feedback device or button clicks are delivered to the simulation system, resulting in interaction between dental surgical tools and oral internal models, and thus haptic feedback is delivered to the haptic feedback device. Using these basic techniques, we provide a realistic training experience of impacted wisdom tooth extraction surgery, a representative dental surgery technique, in a virtual environment represented by sophisticated three-dimensional models.
