  • This paper deals with the influence of fungi for the thermal protective cork-based exterior insulator which protect a missile system from aerodynamic loads and heating during flight of missile. We consider the adhesion of cork-based composite on the composite motor case which fabricated by filament winding process. We also consider the importance of the requirement analysis for effective, successful system development under given system conditions. In order to develop the basic requirement analysis for the thermal protective cork-based exterior insulator, an experimental requirement analysis was accomplished, and some experimental comparing results, the study for preventing fungi are presented.

  • This study is to development of inorganic insulation material using by-product materials. The organic material is due to toxic gas emission, when a fire occurs. And it has lower water resistance. The inorganic material is heavy and worse thermal performance than organic materials. In this study, cullet and fly ash were used as basic materials in order to secure a recycling technology of by-products which was mostly discarded and reclimed, and measure of physical properties of light-weight ceramic insulator.

  • To overcome the limitation in relation to thermal insulator's selection and installation method that is suitable for exterior insulation and waterproof construction methods, a production basis of thermal insulators of which manufacturing knowhow is held by companies was ensured and future-oriented construction methods to adopt new materials were applied. Performance verification was conducted through performance and mock-up tests of thermal transmittance on the cross sections where the flexible insulators were applied based on the improved prototype and performance data were obtained. To overcome the biggest drawbacks (walking feeling and damage etc.) in the exterior insulation and waterproof construction method, inserting a protective layer between thermal insulator and water-proof layer was proposed, and polypropylene corrugated cardboards.

  • By the means of microcellular (earning, we can make polymers with $10{\mu}m$ sized gas bubbles. After the $CO_2$ gas bubbles solve, diffuse and leave the polymer matrix, the thermal properties of polymer matrix are changed. Expecially, thermal conductivity becomes low. So, the polymer matrixes with gas bubbles can be used as insulator In this paper, we make model after microcellular foamed polymer matrix to know the change of thermal properties. Most of all, the purpose of this paper is the mlcrocellular foamed polymer matrix's availability as a insulator Beside of thermal properties the surface of microcellular foamed polymer is polished and easy to be colored. Above all the mechanical properties are better than the other insulator. So, microcellular foamed polymer can be used as exterior of building or it can be replaced as a tile.

  • This is study of the planning of thermal insulation to prevent heat loss in a basement, is aimed at investigating the heat loss from the basement space and basement structures. The results analyzed in these researches are as follows; To analyze the heat loss from basement structures, this study experimented on the heat flow phenomenon of a non-insulation structure and two insulation structure models. From the result, the interior surface temperature of two insulation structures(B, C, model) showed an equal temperature, but the interior surface temperature of a non-insulation structure (A model) is different from the two models, Therefore, we understand that the insulator constructed in the basement structure makes a role of preventing the heat loss from the basement. In addition, the exterior surface temperature of two insulation structure models showed an equal temperature. Specially, judging from the temperature difference of C model. we understand that the performance of insulator is low under the definite depth of underground. The thermal insulation design should be constructed under the definite depth of underground considering outdoor and building conditions.

  • This study performed the quantitative distribution analysis of created voids to an insulator when applying general flame and DC short-circuit current to 2.5 $mm^2$ HIV (600 V Grade Heat-Resistant Polyvinyl Chloride Insulated Wires). The diameter of cross-section of HIV normal product and the radius of conductor were measured to be 3.3 mm and 1.8 mm. The exterior of HIV exposed to general flame showed severe carbonization and its interior exhibited voids created by dechlorination reaction. This study observed the characteristics that, when the shortcircuit current applied for 2 seconds from a DC 12 V lead battery, the conductor and neighboring insulator were melted, causing the insulator adhering to the conductor. On average, 87 voids were created on 10 mm of the HIV. The average diameter of voids was 0.25 mm. In addition, it was found that, when the short-circuit current applied for 4 seconds, the interior of insulator in contact with conductor severely carbonized and showed exfoliation phenomenon. On average, 47 voids were created, with more voids at the bottom. The average diameter of voids was 0.20 mm. When the short-circuit current for 6 seconds, most parts of upper part of conductor was carbonized, 20 voids were created. The average diameter of voids was measured to be 0.24 mm. It could be seen that the created voids received little influence by the type of energy source and the number of created voids was reduced as the energy supply time increased.

  • Recently, the government has been working feverously to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emission by enacting Basic Act on Low Carbon Green Growth at the national level. Improving the insulation performance of building exterior and insulator can reduce the energy in the building sector. This study is about developing light-weight foamed concrete insulation panel that can be applied to buildings to save energy and to find the optimal condition for the development of insulation materials that can save energy by enhancing its physical, kinetic and thermal characteristics. Various experimental factors and conditions were considered in the study such as foam agent types (AES=Alcohol Ethoxy Sulfate, AOS=Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, VS=Vegetable Soap, FP=Fe-Protein), foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%), and foam percentage (30, 50, 70%). Experiment results indicated that the surface tension of aqueous solution including foam agent, was lower when AOS was used over other foam agents. FP produced relatively stable foams in 3% or more, which produced unstable foams containing high water content and low surface tension when diluted at low concentration. Depending on foam agent types, compressive strength and thermal conductivity were similar at low density range but showed some differences at high concentration range. In addition, when concentrations of foam agent and foaming ratio increased, pore size increased and open pores are formed. In all types of foam agent, thermal conductivity were excellent, satisfying KS standards. The most outstanding performance for insulation panel was obtained when FP 3% was used.
