  • Nature is suiting to the objective of oneself, structurally safe and functional. It continues to transform itself into various forms and has aesthetic beauty. By analyzing how nature's organic property has been expressed in different cases of furniture design, which has objective purpose, this research presents designing pathway to induce nature's organic oder into the furniture design. Simile expression type clearly shows its form through exposing the natural material that it is made out of. Visually, esthetic beauty can be emphasized and mentally it can provide pleasantness. Metaphorical expression type only hints the original material that was used to reproduce. Under the same condition it can have subjective perception and it needs to be used suitably at the right place and time. Abstract expression type it might be hard to recognize the original material visually since it went through many transformation in expression, however it can stage extreme and mysterious atmosphere. Furniture designs employing these three types can have functionality as well as decorative and serve variety of change in the existing uniformed interior space, and it can also satisfy individual's need with practicality and provide aesthetic beauty.

간소화된 주성분 벡터를 이용한 벡터 그래픽 캐릭터의 얼굴표정 생성 (The facial expression generation of vector graphic character using the simplified principle component vector)

  • 본 논문은 간소화된 주성분 벡터를 이용한 벡터 그래픽 캐릭터의 다양한 얼굴 표정 생성 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 Russell의 내적 정서 상태에 기반하여 재정의된 벡터 그래픽 캐릭터들의 9가지 표정에 대해 주성분 분석을 수행한다. 이를 통해 캐릭터의 얼굴 특성과 표정에 주된 영향을 미치는 주성분 벡터를 찾아내고, 간소화된 주성분 벡터로부터 얼굴 표정을 생성한다. 또한 캐릭터의 특성과 표정의 가중치 값을 보간함으로써 자연스러운 중간 캐릭터 및 표정을 생성한다. 이는 얼굴 애니메이션에서 종래의 키프레임 저장 공간을 상당히 줄일 수 있으며, 적은 계산량으로 중간 표정을 생성할 수 있다. 이에 실시간 제어를 요구하는 웹/모바일 서비스, 게임 등에서 캐릭터 생성 시스템의 성능을 상당히 개선할 수 있다.

부분영역처리를 이용한 영상재구성의 속도개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Speed Improvement of Medical Image Reconstruction Using Limited Range Process)

  • 2D sliced CT images hardly express the human disease in a space. This space expression can be reconstructed into 3D image by piling up the CT sliced image in succession. In medical image, in order to get the reconstructed 3D images, expensive system or much calculation time is needed. But by changing the method of reconstruction procedure and limit the range, the reconstruction time could be reduced. In this study, to reduce the processing time and memory, we suggested a method of interpolation and ray casting processing at the same time in a limited range. Such a limited range processing have advantages that we could reduce the unnecessary interpolation and ray casting. Through a experiment, it is founded that the reconstruction time and the memory was much reduced.

3D 디지털 기술을 활용한 패션 갤러리 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of 3D Digital Technology to Producing Cyber Fashion Gallery)

  • This study shows that digital technology is adapted practical method in fashion design process and virtual simulation and cyber fashion gallery based on virtual reality are researched. This study is proposed the 3D fashion design simulation in the virtual space used on 3D studio max, poser, photoshop program according to fashion design process. The main design concept is "temporary bridge" from rainbow. This study is supposed six fashion design in accordance with three sub-theme under main concept by changing color and texture used on 3D simulation. The results of this study are as follows: 1. This study produced Cyber Fashion Gallery in virtual space to the form of CD Rom title and web title by Macromedia Director 8.5, Macromedia Flash, Sound Forge. And it is enlarged the field of expression in aspect of Fashion Exhibition, beyond restriction of time and space. 2. Clothes modelling tools is able to easily adapt to various textiles and patterns in 3D dynamic virtual mannequin before making clothes. Digital technology is able to express image changed color and texture, especially new material, multi-finishing material and brilliant material and so on. So this study is able to develop tools for study of fashion coordination. 3. Cyber Fashion Gallery consists of gallery, story, painting, symbolism, example, image, quit. This study is enlarged the range of clothing expression by digital technology and open to possibility customized-manufacture.

도시 공공디자인에서 하이퍼미디어에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Urban Public Design which Introduced the Concept of Hypermedia)

  • As the technical medium evolves, the method of accepting information is changing. The technical medium also appears in various ways through the combination with art. This study aims to conduct research on how hypermedia, appearing from this, will reveal itself in the urban public design in terms of its expression mode. First, this study looks at the characteristics for expression representation of hypermedia art through theoretical considerations on the hypermedia. Second, this study identifies how hypermedia art is introduced in the urban public design through art cases. Third, this study reveals the characteristics depending on the expression mode of hypermedia art shown in the urban public design based on the analyzed cases. As a result, first, hypermedia appeared in various image lighting expression modes that use 'light' in the urban public design and interacted with the public. Second, hypermedia reacted to 'motion' and was the expression mode of using bodies in the urban public design and using peripheral devices and external environment and characterized by having complex patterns of multi-layered structure through multi-media. It also applied sight, hearing, and touch partially or integratedly to attract synesthesia from the public and checked mutual interaction rapidly in an improvised way. Third, such a complex digital technology was the network expression mode beyond space and time by medium of urban public design and characterized by the new experience of virtual space expansion through the world wide network and the communication mode of participation. With such a role change of media and combination with art, hypermedia has been achieving varied extended representations. It is considered to change our monotonous urban environment, restore our relationship with the public, and open a new field of communication. Accordingly, the significance of this study can be identified through how it aimed to display the expression method of hypermedia which caused its extension in the field of urban public design as well as through the derivation of relevant characteristics.

마리오 보타의 주택 특성에 관한 고찰 (An investigation on the Characteristics of Housing Projects by Mario Botta)

  • This study investigates the characteristics of Mario Botta's single-family houses. Eight of his housing project which are deemed important in the historical development of housing he been selected for the purpose their elevations plans loggie and interiors are analyzed and evaluated. Through this study the followings are realized ; $\circled1$ The rationality of his interior space comes from Le Corbusier's housing projects. $\circled2 His expression of elevations has developed from Louis. I. Kahn's language and Carlo Scarpa's technique. $\circled3$ The rationality of Corbusier's houses and expressiveness of Kahn's and scarpa's projects together led to his functional solution of internal program an and the creative external images of his own. $\circled4$ The originality of this house results from his creative vision and ability to reinterpret the existing expression and principles in the light of time and space.

  • The lastest art is being characterised by an ever active exchange between different genre. Installation Art is an artistic attempt to integrate visually and dynamic consciousness and movement of human beings and the actual living space based on the new spatial concept of integrative Environment Approach. Through the visual and structural reflection of personal experience and movement new interpretation of space in which various activities and events take place in relation to time is realized. The methods of Installation that relate on the contemporary interior design are as follow : expression of object through deconstruction, space of every experience, enlargement of concept of space, space of interactive.

A Formula for Calculating Dst Injection Rate from Solar Wind Parameters

  • This is an attempt to improve a formula to predict variations of geomagnetic storm indices (Dst) from solar wind parameters. A formula which is most widely accepted was given by Burton et al. (1975) over 30 years ago. Their formula is: dDst*/dt = Q(t) - Dst*(t)/$\tau$, where Q(t) is the Dst injection rate given by the convolution of dawn-to-dusk electric field generated by southward solar wind magnetic field and some response function. However, they did not clearly specify the response function. As a result, misunderstanding seems to be prevailing that the injection rate is proportional to the dawn-to-dusk electric field. In this study we tried to determine the response function by examining 12 intense geomagnetic storms with minimum Dst < -200 nT for which solar wind data are available. The method is as follows. First we assume the form of response function that is specified by several time constants, so that we can calculate the injection rate Q1(t) from the solar wind data. On the other hand, Burton et al. expression provide the observed injection rate Q2(t) = dDst*/dt + Dst*(t)/$\tau$. Thus, it is possible to determine the time constants of response function by a least-squares method to minimize the difference between Q1(t) and Q2(t). We have found this simple method successful enough to reproduce the observed Dst variations from the corresponding solar wind data. The present result provides a scheme to predict the development of Dst 30 minutes to 1 hour in advance by using the real time solar wind data from the ACE spacecraft.

  • In the early 20st century, created distrust on the mechanistic and dualistic view based on the world of Descartes and Newton. As the features of this new science cannot be explained by the existing Western philosophy but can be explained by the thinking system immanent in the Oriental traditional thought, many scientists and philosophers are concentrating their interests on the Oriental philosophy. In addition, some have been making efforts to find solutions needed for a new paradigm from the thinking system of the Orient. A variety of discussions have also been raised in connection with architecture due to this philosophical change. It has now become possible to conduct free creative acts, staying away from physical limitations, including gravity by diversified simulations through a computer. This physical liberation in turn has caused new changes to the spatial concept of architecture, thereby granting the freedom of the expression that could not be even imagined before and opening a possibility of new architecture and space. At the same time, the digital space architecture actively accommodating this technology is generating a phenomenon that the existing physical and realistic things are rapidly being changed gradually to immaterial and unrealistic ones. This study has analyzed the properties of digital architectural space as the immateriality of our traditional architectural space. The results are as follows: It can be seen that the immaterial features exhibited in the digital architectural space and the traditional architectural one are not just interconnected with specific features, but they are correlated to all immaterial features. Thus, immateriality that are common in the traditional and digital architectural spaces is complementary organic, which is contained in the ambiguity of boundary between other spaces. It is regarded to the architecture as a living things in space diversity based on ideological similarities.

  • 'Fantasy' in this study is Not something fantastic in the used to be-way we can Imagine easily. This study is to figure out 'fantasy' and 'the fantastic' as a significant measure to interpret the contemporary space-time. In particular, it analyzed that fantasy have influenced on some kind of specific trend what is expressed a tendency to contemporary interior designs of informal, indeterminacy and unpredictability. Fantasy is represented as 'the fantastic space' through spatial revealing, concealing, distorting, and connoting. Representation becomes a major issue in almost many kinds of knowledge-system that start from the mind to go out to the world in a realistic or idealistic way. Therefore, the fantastic space reconstructs the reality while making itself through to representational creation-process. It is Important for fantasy and the fantastic space to help detect behind beneath the reality more than what we know.
