  • Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a major impediment to successful chemotherapy of gastric cancer. Our aim was to establish an epirubicin-resistant cell subline (AGS/EPI) and to elucidate the mechanisms involved in acquired EPI resistance. The AGS/EPI cell subline developed by exposing parental AGS cells to stepwise increasing concentrations of EPI demonstrated 2.52-fold resistance relative to the AGS cell line, and mRNA expression of the ATP-dependent drug-efflux pump P-glycoprotein (Pgp), more recently known as ABCB1 protein, was similarly upregulated. An AGS/EPI cell subline could thus be effectively established, and MDR mechanism of these cells was shown to be related to the overexpression of mRNA of the ABCB1 gene.

  • Here we present a 43-year-old man who was brought with a self-inflicted cut throat injury; 18 hours after the suicidal attempt. On examination a deep 12 cm cut at the level of the hyoid bone exposing the posterior pharyngeal wall was seen. Emergency surgery with primary repair, tracheostomy and feeding gastrostomy was done. Post-operative period was uneventful and patient recovered without any speech or swallowing abnormalities. Through this article we would like to stress that even in cases of frightening ghastly wounds, by maintaining simple surgical principles we can achieve good outcomes.

  • A paper chromatographical method is studied to detect As and Sb from a mixed sample applying the principle of Gutzeit's. After spoting the mixed $AsH_3$ sample on the $AgNO_3$ band of paper strip (6 mm $\times$ 300 mm of Whatman No.52 or Toyo No.2 filter paper), the strip is developed by ascending method using N-HCl solution as a developing soluvent. The color spot detection of As and Sb is done by exposing the dried chromatogram to $H_2S$ stream. According to the experiments, the detectable minimum range of As is 3 micrograms and that of Sb is 15 micrograms. The yellow phosphorous interfers to the color spot detection of As and Sb, so that, previously the most of yellow phosphorous from the sample should be removed out.

  • When producing a business card, there is always a risk for exposing personal information as the information from the business card application is saved in the computer of the printing agency. The information that goes into the business card application file, such as name, mobile phone number, and e-mail address is not encrypted, which makes it easy to access. This study was conducted in order to find a way to automatize the business card application process by encrypting the information entered into the business card application file, simplifying the business card application process, minimizing the workload and by directly linking to the print shop to remove the print file after completing the printing of the business card.

  • In the secret sharing scheme, the reconstruction secret must to exposed to participants. In order to enforce the same secret sharing schemes, a new secret have to regenerate and redistribute for participants. Such a regeneration process is inefficient because of the overhead in the regeneration. In this paper, we proposed efficient secret regeneration scheme by eigenvalue. it can be also redistribution without revealing with other participants.

  • Micro-patterns of $Pb(Zr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47})O_3$, PZT, thin films with a MPB composition were deposited on $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate from molecular-designed PZT precursor solution by using self-assembledmonolayer(SAM) as a template. This method includes deposition of SAM followed by the optical etching by exposing the SAM to the UV-light, leading to the patterned SAM as a selective deposition template. The pattern of SAM was formed by irradiating UV-light to the SAM on a substrate and/or patterned PZT thin film through a metal mask for the selective deposition of patterned PZT or lanthanum nickel oxide (LNO) precursor films from alkoxide-based precursor solutions. As a result, patterned ferroelectric PZT and PZT/LNO thin film capacitors with good electrical properties in micrometer size could be successfully deposited.

  • Photonic quasi-crystals(PQCs) have been fabricated by a multiple-exposure nanosphere lithography (MENSL) method using the self-assembled nanospheres as lens-mask patterns. The multiple-exposing source is collimated laser beam and rotation, tilting system. The arrays of the PQCs exhibited variable lattice structures and shape the control of ratating angle ($\theta$), tilting angle ($\gamma$) and the exposure conditions. The used nanosphere size is upto the $1\;{\mu}m$. Images of prepared 2D PQCs were observed by SEM. We believe that the MENSL method is a suitable useful tool to realize the PQCs arrays of large area.

  • Recently A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. ECG and HRV are used in most virtual reality system. GSR is electrical impedance of biological tissues and the changes in impedance accompanying physiological activity. GSR is better than ECG or HRV for explaining mental states in other study. In this study, we will analysis GSR signal when a acrophobia patient and a normal is on high floor.

  • In this paper, $As_{40}Se_{50-x}S_[x}Ge_{10}$(x=0, 25, 35, at.%) bulk and thin films, to develope device of reversible hologram, proved amorphous by X-RD analysis. On the thin films with composition rate, as Se-doped-quantity increased, absorption edge shifted to long wavelength, and we found that reversible photodarkening effect occurred when thin films are exposed and annealed. Optical energy gap was larger when thin films are annealed than exposed. In this effect thin films structurally stabilized by annealing. It is to formed grating hologram by the bragg method on the $As_{40}Se_{15}S_[35}Ge_{10}$ thisn films with the best transmittance properties As polariging angle grew larger, we found that maximum diffraction efficiency became smaller, and obtained it of 4.5% on the thin fim thicknesss of 0.6 m, polarizing angle of 40$^[\circ}$ and exposing for 20sec.

  • Necrotizing sialometaplasia (NS) was defined by Abrams et al. in 1973 as a reactive necrotizing inflammatory process involving minor salivary glands of the hard palate. Before that recognition, many patients with this condition had been improperly treated because of its clinical and histologic resemblance to malignancy such as mucoepidermoid carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. We report two cases of necrotizing sialometaplasia. One case involved a 58-year-old male who had an ulcerative palatal lesion exposing underlying bone which has the typical features of the above mentioned condition. Another case involved a 59-year-old male who developed a necrotizing sialometaplasia in association with a dome-shaped palatal swelling which was proved as an adenoid cystic carcinoma after operation biopsy.
