  • In this paper we investigate the stability of solutions of the perturbed differential equations with the positive order of the perturbation by using the notion of the Lyapunov exponent of unperturbed equations and an integral inequality of Bihari type.

  • It has been shown that LAD estimates are more efficient than LS estimates when the error distribution is double exponential in AR(1) model. In order to explore the performance of LAD estimates one can use bootstrap approaches. In this paper we consider the efficiencies of bootstrap methods when we apply LAD estimates with highly variable data. Monte Carlo simulation results are given for comparing generalized bootstrap, stationary bootstrap and threshold bootstrap methods.

  • This paper deals with an (s, S) spare-part inventory model with general leadtime. In the model, if the inventory level falls to a reorder point s, a replenishment order quantity Q is ordered. Assumming that the number of operating units is one and the lifetime of a unit follows an exponential distribution, we derive the expected cost rate and suggest a procedure to obtain the optimal pair of (s, S) minimizing the cost rate.

  • For the evaluation algebra $F[e^{{\pm}x}]_M\;if\;M=\{{\partial}\}$, then $$Der_{non}(F[e^{{\pm}x}]_M)$$ of the evaluation algebra $(F[e^{{\pm}x}]_M)$ is found in the paper [15]. For $M=\{{\partial},\;{\partial}^2\}$, we find $Der_{non}(F[e^{{\pm}x}]_M))$ of the evaluation algebra $F[e^{{\pm}x}]_M$ in this paper. We show that there is a non-associative algebra which is the direct sum of derivation invariant subspaces.

  • This paper deals with the exact solution of surface gravity waves in an ocean with irregular bed topography. In order to obtain water surface elevation and run-up of infra-gravity waves when the bed is either wavy or exponential, closed form solutions are obtained. Numerical computations indicate that when solitary wave or sinusoidal wave conditions are applied at the boundary, water surface elevation attains near Gaussian profile.

  • In this paper, a singularly perturbed ordinary differential equation with non-smooth data is considered. The numerical method is generated by means of a Petrov-Galerkin finite element method with the piecewise-exponential test function and the piecewise-linear trial function. At the discontinuous point of the coefficient, a special technique is used. The method is shown to be first-order accurate and singular perturbation parameter uniform convergence. Finally, numerical results are presented, which are in agreement with theoretical results.

  • This paper deals with short-term load forecasting. The load model is represented by the state variable form to exploit the Kalman filter technique. The load model is derived from Taylor series expansion and remainder term is considered as noise term. In order to solve recursive filter form, among various algorithm of solving Kalman filter, this paper uses exponential data weighting technique. This paper also deals with the asymptotic stability of filter. Case studies are carried out for the hourly power demand forecasting of the Korea electrical system.

  • The quantitative aspects of 2D carbon-13 INADEQUATE (Incredible Natural Abundance DoublE QUAntum Transfer Experiment) experiment were studied on the basis of the time needed in various concentrations of samples. In order to evaluate the quantitative time of this experiment, eight compounds were selected (M. W. ca. 150-500). The effect on time needed of various concentrations showed exponential decay function, Y=$8.15X^{-0.64}$.

  • In array signal processing, high order statistics can be used to estimate parameters from signal of sums of complex exponential. This paper presents a high order Matrix Pencil method(MPM) using the fourth order cumulant. Since the fourth order cumulant can suppress the Gaussian noise, the response of MPM has better noise immunity than the conventional approaches. We successfully formulate the high order MPM with all the benefits of MPM along with higher accuracy. In the numerical simulations we demonstrated that the proposed method with forth order cumulant has better resolution to find degree of arrival(DOA) in the presence of the Gaussian noise.

  • In this paper, bending-stretching analysis of thick functionally graded piezoelectric rectangular plates is studied using the higher-order shear and normal deformable plate theory. On the basis of this theory, Legendre polynomials are used for approximating the components of displacement field. Also, the effects of both normal and shear deformations are encountered in the theory. The governing equations are derived using the principle of virtual work and variational approach. It is assumed that plate is made of piezoelectric materials with functionally graded distribution of material properties. Hence, exponential function is used to modify mechanical and electrical properties through the thickness of the plate. Finally, the effect of material properties, electrical boundary conditions and dimensions are investigated on the static response of plate. Also, it is shown that results of the presented model are close to the three dimensional elasticity solutions.
