  • This study explored the influence of failure experience of Korean pharmaceutical industries on the innovative activities of corporations from the perspectives of R&D and knowledge search. Previous studies have defined the cause of the failure or studied the reasons for the decline. However, studies analyzing the influence of failure on the innovative activities of corporations are rare. This study set a research period of 10 years for the Korean pharmaceutical industry to conduct a longitudinal analysis of the influence of the influence of failure on innovation activities and the influence of innovation activities on radical innovation. A summary of the research results is as follows. Firstly, failure of corporations induce exploratory innovation activities, and the extent differs greatly from the size of financial slack resource. Secondly, experiences of corporations' failure were not significant from the perspective of knowledge search. Thirdly, the interaction between the corporation's exploratory innovation activities and knowledge search had a positive (+) relationship with radical innovation performance. This study is significant in that it suggested empirical evidence by verifying the positive influence of failure to learning and innovation unlike previous researches viewing failure negatively, and suggested the direction of future studies based on these research results.

  • There has been rapid diffusion of digital innovation technology(DIT) such as 3 D CAD, CAE, simulation software which enable firms to see the future results of intended product designs through 3 D diagram and simulated results. This technology helps firms to reduce trial and error process by solving later stage problems in earlier stages. The DIT being the technology reflecting the real world, as a tool representing the simplified form of the real world, the degree of reflecting the real world(fidelity) is important in utilizing the DIT. This study is an exploratory research examining the process of reviewing the fidelity of the DITs and developing the complementary process necessary for utilizing the DIT with 'not good enough' fidelity. This study could draw out, from its case study, an exploratory hypothesis about the process of developing the complementary process. In the process, there is an analysis of the corresponding relationship between the actual data and the output data of the DIT, e.g. simulated result. Then the input data or output data are adjusted on the basis of the analysis of the corresponding relationship so that the discrepancy between the actual data and the expected interpretation of the output data, through the adjustment, of the DIT, can be reduced. This process is sometimes accompanied by the process of generating experimental data, which reflect the unique situation of the product development process of a company, to be put to the data base of DIT. The complementary process is the process requiring knowledge sharing and adjustment activities across different divisions. This study draw outs implications for effective management of the fidelity of DIT tools.

  • Recently, it becomes important for container ports to gain competitiveness through service differentiation strategies. These strategies require an objective evaluation on consumer needs. For that reason, this study aims at developing the scale and measurement methods for service quality. Container shipping companies calling at Busan are targeted for the empirical analyses. The measurement items are presented for the services that they are provided from entry into a port to departure from a port. Exploratory factor analysis and validity analysis are done to derive a service quality scale from entry to departure. The result of regression analysis implies that the service quality scale is useful to increase customer satisfaction and to establish managerial strategies.

  • This research aimed at analyzing health behavior of private security guards applying planned behavioral theory. In order to achieve the above purpose, this research conducted purposive sampling on the security guards who live in Seoul Gyeonggi region. Excluding unfaithful response and abnormal outlier, material of 187 persons was used for analysis. As the concrete analysis method, multiple regression analysis and logistic regression analysis to presume exploratory factory analysis(EFA), Polyserial Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA), Polyserial correlation analysis, and causal relationship between each variable. The result can be summarized as follows. First, attachment, attitude subjective standard on behavior, perceived behavioral control appeared to positively influence affirmative(+) effect on health behavior continuance will. Second, attachment had no meaningful influence attitude toward behavior. Third, attachment had affirmative(+) influence on health behavior continuance will. Fourth, perceived behavioral control had affirmative(+) influence on realization of health behavior, possibility of practising health behavior increased by about 62.9% when perceived behavioral control increased by 1 unit.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose useful suggestions by analyzing causal effect relationship between perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease-of-use (PEOU), symbolic adoption (SA) which have four constructs, and ATCIS-II usage in mandatory context. Methods: Based on prior research, a research model was constructed using the variables of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the symbolic adoption theory, and the post-adoptive behavior variables. A structured questionnaire was conducted for those who use ATCIS-II in Republic of Korea Army (ROKA), and a total of 183 usable responses were collected and empirically analyzed using SmartPLS 3.3.9. Results: The results of this study are as follows; PEOU have a significant effect on PU and two constructs of SA (heightened enthusiasm, effort worthiness). PU have a significant effect on every construct of SA (heightened enthusiasm, mental acceptance, effort worthiness, use commitment). In addition, it was found that heightened enthusiasm have a significant effect on both expanded usage and exploratory usage. Also, mental acceptance and use commitment have a significant effect on exploratory usage. Conclusion: The findings of this empirical study have implications for proposing SA can explain mandated user's behavior and giving possible way that improve organization performance which adopt Information System (IS) by motivating end-user to extend IS's feature and explore new ways of using IS at work.

  • This study explores critical and success factor of benefits and risks for predicting the acceptance of QR code virtual fashion stores. As an exploratory approach, this study conducted focus group interviews(FGI) with 21 panels who had experience with selected QR virtual stores (e.g., Home plus, 11th Street, Pin & Fit). Content analysis was used to generate 184 excerpts and classify into benefits and risks related to QR code virtual stores. With respect to benefits, content analysis identified four factors: Affective appeal, perceived usefulness, ubiquity, and brand promotion. Also, contents regarding perceived risks were classified into four factors: Complexity, lack of information, lack of technology infrastructure, and perceived cost. A managerial implication was discussed for predicting consumer technology acceptance of a QR code virtual store in the fashion retailing market.

  • This study sought to determine the impact of the graphing calculator on prospective math-teachers' mathematical thinking while they engaged in the exploratory tasks. To understand students' thinking processes, two groups of three students enrolled in the college of education program participated in the study and their performances were audio-taped and described in the observers' notebooks. The results indicated that the prospective teachers got the clues in recalling the prior memory, adapting the algebraic knowledge to given problems, and finding the patterns related to data, to solve the tasks based on inductive, deductive, and creative thinking. The graphing calculator amplified the speed and accuracy of problem-solving strategies and resulted partly in students' progress to the creative thinking by their concept development.

  • This study was designed to develop investigation- and exploration- activities on Euclidean geometry with an exploratory type software, Geometer's Sketchpad, and to gain insights into the geometric reasoning abilities of college students working with the software. A package of Euclidean geometric activities with GSP was developed and four college students worked on the several activities with GSP and their geometric reasoning process were analyzed. Results indicated that GSP helped students solve problems in the several ways: to make conjectures and discover theorems by providing precise construction and measurement; to discover their proofs by providing the visual images and its manipulation; and to make students easily apply "what-if"strategies and expand and deepen their activities. Students' geometric reasoning was highly depended on analytic methods and their abilities with synthetic methods were shown very limited.

  • Advertising is a communication that aims to persuade you through communication. Local governments are enforcing a lot of budget for outdoor advertisements and exposing advertisements to various media. However, in the case of outdoor advertisements, advertisements are executed without considering the specificity of the exposure environment, so it is inferior to the budget input. Therefore, this study aims to help local advertisement agents, producers, and related parties by classifying components by combining video analysis methodology and video ad analysis methodology for effective message delivery and immersion in local outdoor advertising. As a discussion to provide an efficient production methodology for outdoor advertising video production in the future, it is an extension of exploratory research through content analysis.
