  • Bacterial grain rot of rice caused by Burkholderia glumae was examined between weather condition and disease incidence. From 1998 to 2000, average disease incidence was 3.0 % without difference in survey regions. However, it was related closely to amount of rainfall that disease incidence higher in 1998 and 2000 to 3.0 % and 3.6 % respectively than 2.3 in 1999 relatively small volum of rainfall season.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the attributes of ram sexual behaviour under different social conditions. Six intact rams and eight overiectomized ewes were used in this experiment. Ewes were artificially brought into oestrus. All mating traits were recorded every 10 sec during a 1 h mating session under five social conditions viz., ram exposed to single oestrus ewe, ram exposed to single oestrus ewe and audience ram, ram exposed to multiple oestrus ewes, ram exposed to single oestrus ewe with competitor ram and ram exposed to multiple oestrus ewes with competitor ram. Mean intensity of the mating activities during the 1 h mating session under five social conditions was compared. Either vocalization or leg kicking was found to be the predominant teasing activity under all five conditions. Sniffing differed significantly (p<0.05) between different social conditions. Vocalization, leg kicking, and leg kicking with vocalization did not differ significantly (p<0.05) between different social conditions. Mounts/h in the multiple oestrus ewe condition was higher and differed significantly (p<0.05) from other social conditions. Ejaculations/h for the experimental ram was higher when exposed to multiple oestrus ewes in comparison to other social conditions. Mounts/ejaculation was low in the audience ram condition in comparison to the other four social conditions.

  • Friction and wear test for non-asbestos material against cast iron drum were carried out to investigate the friction and wear characteristics of brake system. Its friction coefficient and wear volume were measured and compared with those of asbestos friction material. The experiment. was perforated tinder room temperature and various sliding conditions. After each experiment, the sin-faces of friction materials were observed by SEM.

  • It is generally applied constraint welding condition to structure manufacture in the industry field. But it is thinkable that the residual stress of the construction and specimens for experiment is different because not constraint welding but non-constraint welding are applied for experiment. To apply the constraint welding condition as the industry field and compare and evaluate the welding residual stress distribution, the TlG welding of the pure titanium was carried out under constraint and non-constraint welding conditions

  • There exists a certain functional relation between Vickers hardness and flow stress in the strain-hardened material. Using this relation, the Vickers hardness values in the strain-hardened material can be converted into the flow stress values in good approximation. Therefore, the information about the flow stress distribution in the material can be easily acquired through a forming experiment. That makes it possible to simulate the process state for a critical moment of cold forging under the given boundary conditions very quickly without calculating the foregoing history of the actual deformation from the beginning.

  • The curcumin method was adopted in this research for quantitative analysis of boron in plants. An experiment if this method is suitable to present conditions of our laboratory led us to the following conclusions. 1. In making ashes the addition of 0.5ml saturated $Ba(OH)_2$ solution to boron $1{\gamma}$. could completely prevent it from volatilizing. 2. The soft glass ware made in Korea was unfit for this experiment because of the differences in quality. The polyethylene cup was desirable for the quantitative analysis of boron.

  • The concept of Balanced Factorial Experiment (BFE) was introduced by Shah (1958). The conditions for BFE were set up by Kurkjian and Zelen (1963) and Kshirsagar (1966). Generalized Cyclic Factorial Experiment (GCFE), which is more wide class of designs than BFE, do not satisfy the condition of BFE. So all contrasts belonging to the same interaction are not estimated with equal variance. The main purpose of this paper is to show that GCFE have orthogonal factorial structure and the scheme of the size of variances for all normalized contrasts in GCFE is similar to the original intra-block association scheme.
