In this paper, we propose an adaptive thresholding method to binarize two-dimensional barcode images. Adaptive thresholding methods are applied to document image binarization. Thus, they inappropriate to use in recognition of two-dimensional barcode images. To overcome the problem, we propose a new adaptive threshold method using the integral image. To show the effectiveness of our method, we compared our method with the well-known existing method in terms of visual quality and processing time. The experimental result indicates that the proposed method is superior to the existing method.

The size of TV and TFT-LCD are bigger and bigger for the next generation exposure equipment install that existing fab are getting a lot of additions. When the new fab build an extension that the shortening of the construction and non-vibration are use cast in place concrete pile method. In this study when lay the foundation of existing fab adjoin use vibration monitoring system are rotator type all casing method among cast in place concrete pile method. The evaluation of ground vibration of rotator type all casing method effect to precision equipment and vibration area of influence.
In wireless localization, several linear closed-form solution (LCS) methods have been investigated as a direct result of the drawbacks that plague the existing iterative methods, such as the local minimum problem and heavy computational burden. Among the known LCS methods, both the direct solution method and the difference of squared range measurements method are considered in this paper. These LCS methods do not have any of the aforementioned problems that occur in the existing iterative methods. However, each LCS method does have its own individual error property. In this paper, a hybrid LCS method is presented to reduce these errors. The hybrid LCS method integrates the two aforementioned LCS methods by using two check points that give important information on the probability of occurrence of each LCS's individual error. The results of several Monte Carlo simulations show that the proposed method has a good performance. The solutions provided by the proposed method are accurate and reliable. The solutions do not have serious errors such as those that occur in the conventional standalone LCS and iterative methods.
In this study, we proposed new method to mitigate tensile welding residual stress for preventing PWSCC in CRDM nozzle. Residual stress analysis using finite element method is performed to confirm benefit of the new method. In case of applying existing method, tensile axial residual stress decrease by about 28% and tensile hoop residual stress decrease by about 33%. In case of applying the new method, tensile axial residual stress decrease by about 32% and tensile hoop residual stress decrease by about 43%. Therefore, we conclude the new proposed method is more effective to prevent PWSCC than existing method.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the improved methods for cost sharing in apartment remodeling projects. Case studies on apartment remodeling projects with different plan type were analyzed and compared. Cost sharing estimated by 'proportional rate method' shows similar results estimated by 'return on investment method' in case of similar area ratio of existing plan to remodeling plan. Otherwise cost sharing estimated by 'proportional rate method' shows great differences comparing the results estimated by 'return on investment method'. Although return on 'proportional rate method' is widely used, it is not proper to estimate cost sharing when each householder's contribution for the project varies, such as considerable differences area ratio of existing plan to remodeling plan. Improved cost sharing method is needed taking into account project contribution and characteristics.

This study proposes a new islanding detection method that uses the phase shift of feed-forward voltage and evaluates the performance of an existing method and the proposed method when the grid frequency changes within the allowable range under steady-state conditions. The investigated existing method, which is slip mode frequency shift (SMS), uses current phase shift to detect islanding. The SMS method supplies reactive current to the grid under this condition, but the proposed method does not generate additional reactive power because it does not depend on the current control loop. The performance in steady-state grid condition is evaluated through simulations and experiments.

This paper proposes an imputation method using a bidirectional k-nearest components search based local linear regression method. The bidirectional k-nearest-components search method selects components in the dynamic range from the missing points. Unlike the existing methods, which use a fixed-size window, the proposed method can flexibly select adjacent components in an imputation problem. The weight values assigned to the components around the missing points are calculated using local linear regression. The local linear regression method is free from the rank problem in a matrix of dependent variables. In addition, it can calculate the weight values that reflect the data flow in a specific environment, such as a blackout. The original missing values were estimated from a linear combination of the components and their weights. Finally, the estimated value imputes the missing values. In the experimental results, the proposed method outperformed the existing methods when the error between the original data and imputation data was measured using MAE and RMSE.

PURPOSES : Bonded concrete overlay is a favorable maintenance method since the material properties are similar to existing concrete pavements. In addition, bonded concrete overlay has advantage of structural performance since the overlay layer and the existing pavement perform as a monolithic layer. It is important to have suitable bond strength criteria to secure the performance of bonded concrete overlay. This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing bond strength characteristics between existing concrete pavement and overlay material. METHODS: Bond strength between overlay and existing pavement are measured and analyzed for various conditions such as the type of overlay materials, compressive and flexure strength of overlay and existing pavement, and deterioration status of existing pavement. RESULTS: The strength of overlay material does not significantly influence the bond strength. The overlay of ultra-rapid hardening cement generally gives low bond strength. However, ultra rapid hardening polymer modified concrete gives robust bond strength. The deterioration of existing concrete significantly decrease the bond strength. CONCLUSIONS: Bond strength of bonded concrete overlay highly depends on condition of existing concrete pavement rather than overlay material.

Aging tunnels with small cross-sections can cause chronic traffic jams. This problem can be solved by widening the tunnel. In general, when the tunnel is expanded, the outer portion of the existing tunnel is excavated through a mechanical or blasting method. Such excavation affects not only the surrounding ground but also the existing tunnel. The application of the pre-cutting method can be a solution to these problems effectively. Therefore, if the widening of tunnel is performed by applying pre-cutting method, analysis of the impact of this method must be performed. In this study, in order to analyze the effect of applying pre-cutting in tunnel widening, numerical analysis is performed at six ground grades, from grade I to weathered rock. The analysis is performed with the expanding lane and the excavation length of pre-cutting as variables. In addition, the analysis is focused on the displacement of crown of the existing tunnel and the enlarged tunnel. As a result, the crown displacement of the enlarged tunnel is confirmed to converge at the same value regardless of the excavation length of the pre-cutting when the tunnel widening is completed. In the case of existing tunnels, uplift of crown occurs within 5 m of the front of the tunnel surface, and the shorter the excavation length of pre-cutting is found to be effective in preventing the occurrence of uplift.
We examined various existing threshold methods for the determination of the first arrival time of acoustic emission (AE), and developed a new variable threshold method that could determine the first arrival time of AE more accurately and more quickly than existing methods. The new method, a modification of an existing threshold method, does not fix the threshold, but applies variable thresholds for the AE signals according to noise analysis. Two- and three-dimensional models were established to test the effectiveness of the new method. It could determine source locations of AE in a two-dimensional model 38.3% more accurately than the pre-existing threshold methods. Its accuracy improvement over the existing methods in a three-dimensional model was about 15.2%. A practical test involved measuring the source locations of AE during three-point bending tests of granite cores. The new method placed the sources closer to the fracture plane than did the pre-existing methods, indicating its superior (and quicker) ability to determine the source locations of AE.
