  • Recently, housing market & circumstances considering society change have changed dramatically. Such changes have affected system exchange of apartment housing greatly and promoted new housing system breaking with bearing wall structure. From this point of view, this study examined ultimate systematic items for promoting better housing system after extracting existing building regulation and housing regulation. This study only analyzed system change considering skeleton(support) with housing regulation, building regulation and fire service law. Consequently, apartment housing will intend residential open building breaking with existing bearing wall structure by promoting change of skeleton & infill system afterward.

  • There has been a defect dispute of apartment building in Korea. The defect dispute is complicated by main issues and details of dispute. It is yet to be solved. Meanwhile, a judge does not a inspection and analysis, but, related field expert who contracted professional engineer does. As a result, defect consulting report that an important judgment is used in a defect dispute. Therefore, this study does research on structure of defect consulting report. A defect consulting report has same items, irrespective of a defect consultant as a result that check 7 indexes about 10 cases. It has different structure's details depending on each defect consultants. And, it inserts new detail or deletes existing detail, does not show clear distinction.

  • Seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing structure is a complicated work that typically requires more sophisticated analyses than performing a new design. Before the implementation of a Code for seismic design of buildings (GBJ 11-89), not enough attention has been paid on seismic performance of structures and a great part of the existing reinforced concrete structures built in China have been poorly designed according to the new version of the same code (GB 50011-2010). This paper presents a case study of seismic assessment of a non-seismically designed reinforced concrete building in China. The structural responses are evaluated using the nonlinear static procedure (the so-called pushover analysis), which requires its introduction within a process that allows the estimation of the demand, against which the capacity is then compared with. The capacity of all structural members can be determined following the design code. Based on the structural performance, suitable retrofitting strategies are selected and implemented to the existing system. The retrofitted structure is analyzed again to check the effectiveness of the rehabilitation. Different types of retrofitting strategy are discussed and classified according to their complexity and benefits. Finally, a proper intervention methodology is utilized to upgrade this typical low-rise non-ductile building.

  • 3D printing technology is attracting increasing attention as a key technology of the fourth industrial revolution that can change the production paradigm of existing industries. The introduction of construction 3D printing technology has been slower than other industries because of the characteristics of the construction field. On the other hand construction automation using 3D printing is required to reduce the production population, as well as improve productivity and safety. In this study, a construction 3D printing work breakdown structure and link method to a standard estimation system were developed as a preliminary preparation for introducing 3D printing to construction. Based on expert consultation on construction and 3D printing, a hypothetical scenario was developed based on existing construction 3D printing technology. According to the scenario, 16 kinds of works required for 3D printing construction work were derived. The existing work breakdown structure and standard estimation system were analyzed, and the 3D printing work was linked. 3D printing works that were the same as the existing breakdown structure were found, and non-existent works were added to the similar breakdown structure. These results are expected to be helpful for future 3D printing construction management and cost estimation. The actual standard estimation system through 3D printing work will need to be calculated.

  • In this paper, a probability-based procedure to evaluate the performance of existing RC structures exposed to seismic and fire actions is presented. The procedure is demonstrated with reference to an existing old school building, located in Italy. The vulnerability assessment of the building highlights deficiencies under both static and seismic loads. Retrofit operations are designed to achieve the seismic safety. The idea of the work consists in assessing the performance of the existing and retrofitted building in terms of both the seismic and fire resistance. The seismic retrofit and fire resistance upgrading follow different paths, depending on the specific configuration of the building. A good seismic retrofit does not entail an improving of the fire resistance and vice versa. The goal of the current work is to study the variation of response due to the uncertainties considered in records/fire curves selection and to carry out the assessment of the studied RC structure by obtaining fragility curves under the effect of different records/temperature. The results show the fragility curves before and after retrofit operations and both in terms of seismic performance and fire resistance performance, measuring the percent improving for the different limit states.

  • In this study, the satisfaction rating to the floor impact sound was investigated for the residents in the apartment Building where the business scheme had been approved after 2005. The results are compared with existing research. The questionnaire survey was conducted to the 597 residents in 14 apartments complex which were applied with standard floor structure and approval floor structure. Most of respondents(71.1 %) answered that the performance of floor impact sound insulation, in case of standard floor structure, was improved compared to the apartments where they used to live. Comparing with the questionnaire survey result of existing research, the answered ratio of 'less annoyed' and 'less loud' is somewhat increased.

  • In this study, in the coating-sheet composite waterproofing method, a specimen was formed to prevent the transmission of the no-node tensile stress occurring under the junction between sheets by forming an insulating structure when the junction was formed, and to compare the effect of preventing breakage with the existing common junction. For this, tensile performance evaluation was conducted. As a result of the evaluation, it was confirmed that it exhibited higher tensile strength compared to the existing joint and at the same time exhibited a large width of displacement characteristics, and thus, had an effect of preventing breakage.

  • G-SEED's evaluation of existing buildings is an important point because the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of existing buildings are continuously increasing due to the aging of buildings over time. However, as G-SEED certification is concentrated on new buildings and the standards are not yet available, we will make improvements to evaluate the existing buildings of G-SEED. In order to improve G-SEED for EB, two research procedures were carried out. First, LEED EBOM and LEED for NC compare and analyze evaluation items and methods, and LEED EBOM focuses on evaluation of existing buildings. Second, we analyzed the certification evaluation contents of eight domestic LEED EBOM accredited buildings and obtained items that can be applied or need to be applied when revising G-SEED for EB. LEED EBOM is focused on improving the performance and utilization of data that track and manage the energy and environmental effects of building operations. As a result of the case analysis, the evaluation of G-SEED for EB requires quantitative evaluation items such as environmental management of buildings, energy performance status of building, improvement plan and improvement of performance according to tracking value. Although G-SEED for EB is not structured yet and there are few cases of certification, it is expected that quantitative evaluation of existing buildings will be made through continuous research.

  • New infrastructures and buildings are being constructed increasingly in congested urban areas, and excavation-induced ground movements often cause distortion and damage to adjacent buildings. Protection of adjacent structures occupies a major part of the cost, schedule and third-party impacts of urban development. To limit damage or mitigate their effects on nearby structures, it is highly important to understand the whole mechanism from excavation to building damage, and to estimate building damage reliably before excavation and provide appropriate measures. This paper investigates the effects of excavation-induced ground movements on nearby structures, considering soil-structure interactions for ground and structures, and a building damage criterion, which is based on the state of strain, is proposed. The criterion is compared with other existing damage estimation criteria and a procedure is finally provided for estimating building damage due to excavation-induced ground movements.

  • Abeno Harukas is the tallest building in Japan and is located in Abeno, which is one of the three main railway transport nodes in Osaka. This building has a height of 300 meters, and its lowest levels are 30 meters below ground. It contains a department store, museum, offices, a hotel, and an observatory. In this urban renewal project, a section of the department store that encloses the station was dismantled and replaced by a supertall building complex, while infrastructure was simultaneously constructed, including: upgrades to the station and the existing department store, improved connections to the subway and pedestrian bridges, and a new pedestrian walkway over the road. In this paper, the ingenious erection processes, newly developed technologies, and precise construction management techniques are introduced for Japan's tallest building.
