Big Data based Tourist Attractions Recommendation - Focus on Korean Tourism Organization Linked Open Data - (빅데이터 기반 관광지 추천 시스템 구현 - 한국관광공사 LOD를 중심으로 -)

  • Conventional exhibition management information systems recommend tourist attractions that are close to the place in which an exhibition is held. Some recommended attractions by the location-based recommendation could be meaningless when nothing is related to the exhibition's topic. Our goal is to recommend attractions that are related to the content presented in the exhibition, which can be coined as content-based recommendation. Even though human exhibition curators can do this, the quality is limited to their manual task and knowledge. We propose an automatic way of discovering attractions relevant to an exhibition of interests. Language resources are incorporated to discover attractions that are more meaningful. Because a typical single machine is unable to deal with such large-scale language resources efficiently, we implemented the algorithm on top of Apache Spark, which is a well-known distributed computing framework. As a user interface prototype, a web-based system is implemented that provides users with a list of relevant attractions when users are browsing exhibition information, available at http://bike.snu.ac.kr/WARP. We carried out a case study based on Korean Tourism Organization Linked Open Data with Korean Wikipedia as a language resource. Experimental results are demonstrated to show the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed system. The effectiveness was evaluated against well-known exhibitions. It is expected that the proposed approach will contribute to the development of both exhibition and tourist industries by motivating exhibition visitors to become active tourists.

Identifying Prospective Visitors and Recommending Personalized Booths in the Exhibition Industry

  • Exhibition industry is important business domains to many countries. Not only lots of countries designated the exhibition industry as tools to stimulate national economics, but also many companies offer millions of service or products to customers. Recommender systems can help visitors navigate through large information spaces of various booths. However, no study before has proposed a methodology for identifying and acquiring prospective visitors although it is important to acquire them. Accordingly, we propose a methodology for identifying, acquiring prospective visitors, and recommending the adequate booth information to their preferences in the exhibition industry. We assume that a visitor will be interested in an exhibition within same class of exhibition taxonomy as exhibition which the visitor already saw. Moreover, we use user-based collaborative filtering in order to recommend personalized booths before exhibition. A prototype recommender system is implemented to evaluate the proposed methodology. Our experiments show that the proposed methodology is better than the item-based CF and have an effect on the choice of exhibition or exhibit booth through automation of word-of-mouth communication.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine relationships among exhibition selection factor, performance, satisfaction and intention to revisit of participants in international exhibition. For this purpose, we set hypotheses relationship among external selection factor of exhibition (ESFE), internal selection factor of exhibition (ISFE), performance of sales (PS), performance of information gathering (PIG), performance of relationship building (PRB), performance of image building (PIB), satisfaction (SAT) and intention to revisit (IR). To verify theses hypotheses, we conducted path analysis on the data from 100 participants of 2019 Korea International Boat Show. The result of this study is as follows: Frist, ESFE positively impacts on PS, PIG, PRB, PIB. Second, ISFE positively impacts on PIG, PRB. Third, PS and PIB positively impacts on SAT. Fourth, SAT positively impacts on IR. The implication of this study is two fold. This study expands research area of international exhibition to a new industry such as marine leisure sports industry and provides useful information to firms that plan to participate in the international exhibition and to those who organize the international exhibitions.

  • The facilities of exhibition and collection for cultural properties is affected by environmental pollution. In order to accumulate a store of basic data, we was investigated eight points(three points at exhibition room and five points at collection room) at four institutes, from December 2000 to March 2001.As a result of investigation, the temperature of A-Exhibition room measured low because of don’t moved HVAC(Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) System, B Exhibition room is dry for the effect of air-conditioner and the air pollutants concentration of C-Exhibition room is high for the kind of an exhibition room. The air-condition was varied within the open period. The air pollutants concentration of A-Collection room is measured high because the air-pollutants is generated in a new buildings and the air pollutants concentration of C-1 & C-2-Collection room is high for the kind of an collection room. It is necessary to ventilate sufficiently.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of exhibition circulation which is caused by behavioral factors of visitor's movement and spatial factors in museums. It looks into the factors under the influence with the visitor's movement. The consideration of exhibition circulation may be classified into 2 categories. one is spatial factors which can make a exhibition circulation according to the extent of exhibition space display density position of exit display style and display secenario. and another is the behavioral factors of visitor's movement according to the time speed proportion of appreciation and visiting rate. The method of analysis is statistics of investigation by following after visitors. Through this data we found out that there are correlation with two categories. Therefore each factor that makes an exhibition circulation with organic relevancy have influence on the visitor's movement directly. So appropriate to the planning of each factor can offer visitors to more effective environment of exhibition.

  • This cases are designated to examine various respect of space program in a museum which are focused on 32 exhibition unit space among the 9 case studies of public museum. Therefore, this study cases offer comprehension of a character and trend about exhibition space through the analysis and classification. Also, through setting up the guide line for the classification of exhibition unit space, the intention of the case study is the use of the case study as guide line and offer the basic data of exhibition space for consideration of exhibition act and moving line caused by the exhibition unit space type.

  • This study examined the effects of a photographic exhibition of HIV/AIDS on people's AIDS knowledge and attitudes. The subjects in this study were 620 people who came to see the AIDS photo exhibition that was held in Seoul, Ansan and Ulsan area. The data were collected before and after seeing the AIDS photo exhibition by using structured questionnaires from July 21, 2003 to July 31, 2004. The result indicated that there were differences in AIDS knowledge and attitudes after viewing the photo exhibition and the differences were statistically significant. The results suggested that the AIDS photo exhibition was effective for increasing knowledge about AIDS and changing the attitude toward people with AIDS. Therefore, it is recommended to utilize the AIDS photos exhibition for AIDS prevention education.

  • The purposes of natural science museums are to educate the general public on the principles and application of science, and help them understand various aspects of science technology. Data should be analyzed by considering these educational aspects of exhibition, and the methods of presenting exhibits should be decided. Accordingly, the composition of exhibition contents with various exhibition elements has an important role at natural science museums. The relation and structure of exhibition themes are significant factors in helping visitors understand the principles of science and a system of viewing circulation can be used as an important tool for understanding the flow of exhibition. In other words, at the planning stage for the composition of exhibition contents, the relation of exhibition themes as well as the circulation patterns of viewers can induce active viewing behaviors. Therefore, centering on the patterns of viewing circulation as well as on the connectivity of exhibition themes at natural science museums, the purposes of this research are: 1) to conceptualize the composition of exhibition contents; and 2) to find elements that can induce active viewing behaviors by analyzing visitors' viewing behaviors. This research was establishing an analytical indicator of contact for viewing behaviors observed from the composition of exhibition scenarios, the active viewing patterns of engagement, first contact, and repeated contact were analyzed. First, a composition pattern with a high participation rate, in contact with exhibits, was found to induce an overall-viewing circulation and have a big ring of the composition of exhibition themes. Second, by inducing a partial-viewing circulation pattern, a high rate of first contacts was observed from a ring pattern of theme connection. Even for the structure with theme connection with depth, a high frequency of contacts with various exhibits was found when exhibition themes have a ring pattern. Third, the repeated contacts were mostly found in the form of scenarios, which has a successive structure of ring and cross patterns.

  • A thesis presented on the study of visitors circulation character, and components in an exhibition space in museums. A behavior ethogram is an investigational tool of tracing examination of visitors. An exhibition layout and behavior characters of exhibition viewing in the configuration of exhibition space are planned by using the method of the behavior ethogram. As time goes by an expansion of a museums concept and changing roles are more extroversive and constructive than the past. It will reflect the phases of the times and show several different aspects. The reflection of the changing circumstance will have to examine an each relationship between exhibition data, exhibition spaces and visitors In the beginning of a plan of the museum. However, the study of a unique behavior pattern and character which are made by moving visitors themselves are quietly not enough studied. The exhibition layout which is considerably examined by the viewing behavior of visitors in act response and a following circulation of viewing have a lack of precise directions and examples. In short, this study ultimately represents to grasp the meaning of the behavior characters of viewing. Furthermore, the basic directions in the museums plan are carefully considered by the reflection of exhibition circulation.

  • This study examines the application of data visualization technology using a clustered data algorithm called 'Tamed Cloud' to virtual spaces and seeks the possibility of implementing it in various types of realistic exhibition contents. To this end, we first attempt to classify virtual reality (VR) exhibition contents starting with COVID-19, and summarize technologies applied. Also, various realistic exhibition contents provide visitors with an opportunity to appreciate the artworks through online and virtual exhibitions. In this trend, virtual reality and augmented reality (AR) technologies have been introduced, allowing visitors to enjoy the artwork more immersively, and the possibility of realistic exhibition content with interaction between the artwork and the user is also being demonstrated. Based on this background, this study examines the history of exhibition contents by dividing them before and after the advent of virtual reality technology, and examines how the clustered algorithm technology called Tamed Cloud was applied to virtual space and implemented as a realistic exhibition content in <70mK> project. By synthesizing all of this, we propose a convergence method of data visualization, virtual reality, and realistic content, and propose it as a new alternative to realistic exhibition content in virtual space.
