  • The atomization characteristics were investigated through the influence of the change of GLR and the change of working fluid on droplet size distribution and mean diameter of drop produced by effervescent atomizer. For simultaneous injection of water and high viscous waste vegetable oil, effervescent atomizer with two aerator tubes was specially designed. From the experimental results, regardless of mass fraction of vegetable oil in working fluids, it is expected that effervescent atomizer will exhibit excellent atomization performance at the high GLR conditions.

  • We report viewing angle characteristics of the Ultra-FFS TFT-LCD. The FFS mode is known to exhibit both a wide viewing angle and high transmittance, owing to the approximated in-plane rotation of the LC director. Nevertheless, in the bright state, the device shows bluish and yellowish color parallel and perpendicular to the LC director at off-normal directions since the LC director rotates onl.v in one direction, and in addition, the grey scale inversion exists in large oblique viewing angle. However, the Ultra-FFS shows no grey scale inversion and no color shift in wide viewing angle range.

  • Esthetic restoration techniques can be categorized into "Direct techniques" consist only of intraoral procedures and "Indirect techniques" include intraoral as well as extraoral laboratory steps. Those made extraorally exhibit generally enhanced esthetic potential and anatomy and better hardness and wear resistance, indirect esthetic restorations numerously applied in contemporary dentistry. Indirect restorative materials can be divided into two categories; composite resin-based materials and ceramic-based materials. These materials shows various were resistance, modulus of elasticity, repair postenital, chemical stability, and different laboratory procedures. In this session, benefit of indirect techinques, case selection of this kind of restorations, and material characteristics and fabrication produre of those materials will ber reviewed; Targis, Sculpture, Belleglass, and Post-curing of restorative composite resins in resin-based materials; Dicor, Empress, Cerec, Celay, and conventional firing porcelain in ceramic based materials.

  • Gromwell colorants were extracted with methanol and dried. Four fractions were obtained by silica gel adsorption column chromatography using step-wise elution method. Relative ratio of four fraction is 1.00:0.07:0.22:0.30(Fl:F2:F3:F4) and gromwell colorants mainly consist of Fl, F3 and F4. IR analysis shows that each fraction has similar structure. Main component of gromwell extracts is acetyl derivative of naphthoquinone, and the rest are isobutyl derivative and isovaleryl derivative etc., in order. Gromwell colorants exhibit relatively good affinity to protein and polyamide fibers, but low affinity to cellulose and regenerated cellulose fibers.

  • This paper analyzes the characteristics of embodied technological knowledge structure of Korean manufacturing in dynamic perspective. In doing that, the concept of the embodied knowledge network is introduced which is defined as a set of industries and their interactions(embodied knowledge flow) or linkages. The analysis of the inter-industrial embodied knowledge flows is conducted by using such methodologies as input-output technique, network analysis, indicator analysis and correlation analysis for a set of empirical data with reference period of 1983-1990. The main findings are as follow. First, as a whole, the structure of embodied knowledge flow can be classified into knowledge outflow sectors, inflow sectors and intermediary sectors. Second, outflow sectors exhibit a multi-central structure whereas inflow sectors form a dualistic structure. These idiosyncratic characteristics should be addressed in developing industrial policy.

  • The primary objective of the study was to find the deformation characteristics of reinforced polymer concrete beams. A test program was carried out to compare the behavior in deformation of polyester and MMA concrete beams with cement concrete beams but with varying ratios of tensile reinforcement. From the results the following conclusions can be made. 1.The various strengths of polymer concrete ware very high compared to the strengths for cement concrete. Also, compared to conventional concrete beams, flexural strength of reinforced polymer concrete beams was distinctly higher for the same section and steel ratios. 2.The polymer concrete beams exhibit large deflections accompanied by relatively high strengths as compared to cement concrete beams. 3.The average ultimate strain at the extreme compression fiber of polymer concrete beams was 0.01 1 cm / cm, and this value was about three to four times as large as that of cement concrete beams, 4.The polymer concrete beams developed more cracks which were more wide crack distribution spacing than the cement concrete beams, and the beams failed in a more ductile manner. 5.The reinforcing steel ratio has a significant effect on the beam strength, load-deflection response, stress-strain curve, and crack pattern of polymer concrete beams.

  • The Lubricational characteristics of O/W Emulsions of beef tallow and mineral oil based lubricants are studied in a roller on disk apparatus. It is revealed that the coefficients of friction with both emulsion lubricants exhibit essentially similar behavior; that is, they rapidly decrease to 0.1% concentration and after they constants with increasing oil concentration, and that, with oil in water emulsions of a concentrations as low as 5wt% practically forms a elastohydrodynamic film. One hand, surface temperature effect on lubricants has virtually no severe, and that, the minimum EHL film chickness estimated that it begins to increase at a concentration of several percent; the effect of particle diameter becomes maked there after.

  • We investigated the fabrication and characteristics of the nitride-based spin-polarized LEDs with room-temperature ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)N layer as a spin injection source. The (Ga,Mn)N thin films having room-temperature ferromagnetic ordering were found to exhibit the negative MR and anomalous Hall resistance up to room temperature, revealing the existence of spin-polarized electrons in (Ga,Mn)N films at room temperature. The electrical characteristics in the spin LEDs did not degraded in spite of the insertion of the (Ga,Mn)N layer into the LED structure. In EL spectra of the spin LEDs, it is confirmed that the devices produce intense EL emission at 7 K as well as room temperature. These results are expected to open up new opportunities to realize room-temperature operating semiconductor spintronic devices.

  • Social requirements to the civil and building structures have been changed in accordance with the social and economic progress. It is very important to develop the innovative structural materials and tecnology that the social requirements appropriately. Ductility of High Performance Fiber Reinforced cementitious Composites (HPFRCC), which exhibit strain hardening and multiple crackling characteristics under the uniaxial tensile stress are drastically improved. Because ductility in tensile test are very different according to specimen shapes, three types of the direct tensile test are performed. The tensile test are performed using the tensile test specimen, dummbell-shaped specimen, and cylinder specimen. As a result, tensile performance in HPFRCC is very good comparing to cylinder specimen because of direction characteristics of fibers. It is necessary to clarify the examination method of suiting to the usage.

  • Structural health monitoring systems are often installed on bridges to provide assessments of the need for structural maintenance and repair. Damage or deterioration may be detected by observation of changes in bridge characteristics evaluated from measured structural responses. However, construction materials such as concrete and steel cables exhibit certain time-dependent behaviour, which also results in changes in structural characteristics. If these are not accounted for properly, false alarms may arise. This paper proposes a systematic and efficient method to study the time-dependent effects on the dynamic properties of cable-stayed bridges. After establishing the finite element model of a cable-stayed bridge taking into account geometric nonlinearities and time-dependent behaviour, long-term time-dependent analysis is carried out by time integration. Then the dynamic properties of the bridge after a certain period can be obtained. The effects of time-dependent behaviour of construction materials on the dynamic properties of typical cable-stayed bridges are investigated in detail.
