Advances of digital device technology such as digital cameras, smart phones and tablets, provide convenience way for people to take pictures during his/her life. Photo data is being spread rapidly throughout the social network, causing the excessive amount of data available on the internet. Photo retrieval is categorized into three types, which are: keyword-based search, example-based search, visualize query-based search. The commonly used multimedia search methods which are implemented on Smart TV are adapting the previous methods that were optimized for PC environment. That causes some features of the method becoming irrelevant to be implemented on Smart TV. This paper proposes a novel Visual Query-based Photo Retrieval Method in Smart TV Environment using a motion sensing input device known as Kinect Sensor. We detected hand gestures using kinect sensor and used the information to mimic the control function of a mouse. The average precision and recall of the proposed system are 81% and 80%, respectively, with threshold value was set to 0.7.
In this Paper, we propose a content-based music information retrieval (MIR) system base on the query-by-example (QBE) method. The proposed system is implemented to retrieve queried music from a dataset where 60 music samples were collected for each of the four genres in Classical, Hiphop. Jazz. and Reck. resulting in 240 music files in database. From each query music signal, the system extracts 60 dimensional feature vectors including spectral centroid. rolloff. flux base on STFT and also the LPC. MFCC and Beat information. and retrieves queried music from a trained database set using Euclidean distance measure. In order to choose optimum features from the 60 dimension feature vectors, SFS method is applied to draw 10 dimension optimum features and these are used for the Proposed system. From the experimental result. we can verify the superior performance of the proposed system that provides success rate of 84% in Hit Rate and 0.63 in MRR which means near 10% improvements over the previous methods. Additional experiments regarding system Performance to random query Patterns (or portions) and query lengths have been investigated and a serious instability problem of system Performance is Pointed out.
In this paper, we presents a method of retrieving 24 bpp RGB images based on color-spatial features. For each image, it is subdivided into regions by using similarity of color after converting RGB color space to CIE L*u*v* color space that is perceptually uniform. Our segmentation algorithm constrains the size of region because a small region is discardable and a large region is difficult to extract spatial feature. For each region, averaging color and center of region are extracted to construct color-spatial features. During the image retrieval process, the color and spatial features of query are compared with those of the database images using our similarity measure to determine the set of candidate images to be retrieved. We implement a content-based color image retrieval system using the proposed method. The system is able to retrieve images by user graphic or example image query. Experimental results show that Recall/Precision is 0.80/0.84.

In this paper, we propose the technique of optimal search keyword extraction and retrieval for news article classification. The proposed technique was verified as an example of identifying trends related to North Korean construction. A representative Korean media platform, BigKinds, was used to select sample articles and extract keywords. The extracted keywords were vectorized using word embedding and based on this, the similarity between the extracted keywords was examined through cosine similarity. In addition, words with a similarity of 0.5 or higher were clustered based on the top 10 frequencies. Each cluster was formed as 'OR' between keywords inside the cluster and 'AND' between clusters according to the search form of the BigKinds. As a result of the in-depth analysis, it was confirmed that meaningful articles appropriate for the original purpose were extracted. This paper is significant in that it is possible to classify news articles suitable for the user's specific purpose without modifying the existing classification system and search form.
It is very important to search for and obtain an example of a similar judgment in case of court judgment. The existing judge's document search uses a method of searching through key-words entered by the user. However, if it is necessary to input an accurate keyword and the keyword is unknown, it is impossible to search for the necessary document. In addition, the detected document may have different contents. In this paper, we want to improve the effectiveness of the method of vectorizing a document into a three-dimensional space, calculating cosine similarity, and searching close documents in order to search an accurate judge's example. Therefore, after analyzing the similarity of words used in the judge's example, a method is provided for extracting the mode and inserting it into the text of the text, thereby providing a method for improving the cosine similarity of the document to be retrieved. It is hoped that users will be able to provide a fast, accurate search trying to find an example of a tax-related judge through the proposed model.

Recently there have been many efforts to support searching and browsing based on the visual content of image and multimedia data. Most existing approaches to content-based image retrieval rely on query by example or user based low-level features such as color, shape, texture. But these methods of query are not easy to use and restrict. In this paper we propose a method for automatic color object extraction and labelling to support multiple queries of content-based image retrieval system. These approaches simplify the regions within images using single colorizing algorithm and extract color object using proposed Color and Spatial based Binary tree map(CSB tree map). And by searching over a large of number of processed regions, a index for the database is created by using proposed labelling method. This allows very fast indexing of the image by color contents of the images and spatial attributes. Futhermore, information about the labelled regions, such as the color set, size, and location, enables variable multiple queries that combine both color content and spatial relationships of regions. We proved our proposed system to be high performance through experiment comparable with another algorithm using 'Washington' image database.
An emotion-based video scene retrieval algorithm is proposed in this paper. First, abrupt/gradual shot boundaries are detected in the video clip representing a specific story Then, five video features such as 'average color histogram' 'average brightness', 'average edge histogram', 'average shot duration', and 'gradual change rate' are extracted from each of the videos and mapping between these features and the emotional space that user has in mind is achieved by an interactive genetic algorithm. Once the proposed algorithm has selected videos that contain the corresponding emotion from initial population of videos, feature vectors from the selected videos are regarded as chromosomes and a genetic crossover is applied over them. Next, new chromosomes after crossover and feature vectors in the database videos are compared based on the similarity function to obtain the most similar videos as solutions of the next generation. By iterating above procedures, new population of videos that user has in mind are retrieved. In order to show the validity of the proposed method, six example categories such as 'action', 'excitement', 'suspense', 'quietness', 'relaxation', 'happiness' are used as emotions for experiments. Over 300 commercial videos, retrieval results show 70% effectiveness in average.

The major source of carbon monoxide (CO) at the Earth's surface is the incomplete combustion of biomass and fossil fuels. Because the global lifetime of CO is about two months, it can be used as a tracer for pollution from anthropogenic activities and biomass hurtling. In this paper, we introduced the principle and algorithm of the Measurement of Pollution in the Troposphere (MOPITT) instrument for global CO monitoring. The MOPITT instrument, which was launched on the Satellite Terra in 1999, measures CO column and mixing ratio based on gas correlation radiometry. CO levels can be determined by a retrieval algorithm based on the maximum likelihood method minimizing the difference between observed and modeled radiances. MOPITT level 2 data (HDF format) can be downloaded through the Earth Observing System (EOS) data gateway of NASA. ASCII files of CO parameters can be extracted from HDF files, and then temporal and spatial distributions can be obtained. Finally, we showed an example of CO monitoring in April 2000. The locations of forest fires and distribution of MOPITT CO clearly indicated that not only anthropogenic emissions but also forest fires play an important role in CO levels and global CO distribution. Our introduction to MOPITT and the example of MOPITT data interpretation would be helpful for scientists who want to use the EOS data.
This paper introduces a simulation study regarding the operation of the Painted Body Storage (PBS) in an automobile factory. In the paint shop of the factory, same colored bodies are grouped together in order to increase the effectiveness of process, for example decrease the loss of cleaning the painting-gun when the color of body changes from one to another. However the production of automobiles in the assembly shop is a typical example of the mixed model assembly production. Therefore PBS locates between the paint shop and the assembly shop for control the input sequence of bodies to the assembly shop, and it enables to meet the smoothing requirement of assembly sequence. There are highly restricted constraints on the assembly sequence in a assembly shop. Those are spacing restriction and smoothing restriction. If such restrictions are violated, conveyor-stop or utility work will be necessary. Thus the major objective of PBS is to control the assembly sequence in a way to meet the two restrictions. In this paper a case study of PBS in an automotive factory is introduced. The storage/retrieval algorithms are suggested and the proposed system is verified using simulation models. Sensitivity analysis for operating factors is also conducted.

The huge size of Internet does not allow ordinary information seekers to search information with ease. Now, it is almost impossible to navigate the ocean of information without effective search tools. Web search engine has been the most effective technology for information retrieval on WWW. But recently, the need for new search tools on WWW or Internet has increased drastically. Currently, there are many on-going researches on the related topics. In this survey, we categorize the new search tools into four types: monitoring systems, filtering systems, browsing assistant systems, recommending systems. These example systems are examined. We are especially interested in WWW information filtering. It is studied how to apply the information filtering techniques to WWW, The application is not so straightforward like Email, Newswire filtering systems. As a result of this study, a simple WWW information filtering system is proposed.
