In this paper, we propose a real-time drone-based violent protest detection system. Our proposed system uses drones to detect scenes of violent protest in real-time. The important problem is that the victims and violent actions have to be manually searched in videos when the evidence has been collected. Firstly, we focused to solve the limitations of existing collecting evidence devices by using drone to collect evidence live and upload in AWS(Amazon Web Service)[1]. Secondly, we built a Deep Learning based violence detection model from the videos using Yolov3 Feature Pyramid Network for human activity recognition, in order to detect three types of violent action. The built model classifies people with possession of gun, swinging pipe, and violent activity with the accuracy of 92, 91 and 80.5% respectively. This system is expected to significantly save time and human resource of the existing collecting evidence.
Learning disorders are diagnosed when the individual's achievement on standardized tests in reading, mathematics, or written expression is substantially below that expected for age, schooling, and level of intelligence. Subtypes of learning disorders may be classified into two groups, language-based type learning disorders including reading and writing disorder, and nonverbal type learning disorder (NLD) such as those relating to mathematics & visuospatial skills, and those in the autism spectrum. Converging evidence indicates that reading disorder represents a disorder within the language system and more specifically within a particular subcomponent of that system, phonological processing. Recent advances in neuroimaging technology, particularly the development of fMRI, provide evidences of a neurobiological basis for reading disorder, specifically a disruption of two left hemisphere posterior brain systems, one parieto-temporal, the other occipito-temporal. The former is the reading system for beginner reading, the latter for skilled reading. Compensatory engagement of anterior systems around the inferior frontal gyrus(Broca's area) and a posterior(right occipito-temporal) system is noted in persistent poor readers in long-term follow up study. The theoretical model proposed to explain NLD's source is not right hemisphere damage, but rather the white matter model. The working hypothesis of the white matter model is that the underdevelopment of, damage to, or dysfunction of cerebral white matter(long myelinated fibers) is the source of this disorder. The role of an evidence-based effective intervention in the remediation of children with learning disorder is discussed.
This review of the literature explored the experiences and effects of peer-assisted learning in basic medical education. Peer-assisted learning is most commonly utilized to teach clinical skills (including technical skills) and medical knowledge (76.4%). It has also been used, albeit less frequently, to facilitate small-group discussions including problem-based learning, to promote students' personal and professional development, to provide mentoring for career development and adaptation to school, to give tutoring to at-risk students, and to implement work-based learning in clinical settings. Near-peer learning is a common type. The use of active learning techniques and digital technology has been increasingly reported. Students' leadership had frequently been described. Student tutor training, programs for teaching skills, institutional support, and assessments have been conducted for effective peer-assisted learning. There is considerable positive evidence that peer-assisted learning is effective in teaching simple clinical skills and medical knowledge for tutees. However, its effects on complex skills and knowledge, small-group discussions, personal and professional development, peer mentoring, and work-based learning have rarely been studied. Additionally, little evidence exists regarding whether peer-assisted learning is effective for student tutors. Further research is needed to develop peer-assisted learning programs and to investigate their learning effects on student tutors, small-group discussion facilitation, personal and professional development, peer mentoring, and peer-led work-based learning in the clinical setting in South Korea. Formal programs and system advancement for a student-led learning culture is needed for effective peer-assisted learning.
Over the years, there has been much research in blended learning. However, research regarding its use and evaluation is inconsistent, not following any specific evaluation method, and may not be applicable to local students. In this research, a case study was conducted to evaluate the environment based on three levels of Kirkpatrick's model. Methodological triangulation was the principle of data collection used in which multiple sources of evidence were triangulated to provide insights into this study. Instruments used include surveys, interviews, questionnaires and pre- and post-tests that are guided by Kirkpatrick's model. The results revealed that students were positive with the learning environment. Students enjoyed learning with multimedia and motivated to learn as well as engaged in the environment. The tests showed significant difference in their learning. Students also perceived that they have transferred their learning from face-to-face lecture into problem-based learning and learning outcome. This research contributes to the field by providing deeper insights into assessments in multimedia-based blended learning environment and empirical evidence on views, attitudes, learning and knowledge transfer of students in higher education.
Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of an evidence-based nursing (EBN) course using action learning-based team learning in undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The participants who consented were 45 second-year nursing students (22 in the experimental, 23 in the control group) from a university in G-city, Korea. The intervention included lectures, practicals, team activities and reflection on overviewing EBN, formulating clinical questions, searching the evidence, and criticizing the research articles. At the beginning and the end of the 7-week EBN course, the participants completed self-reported questionnaires. Frequencies, $x^2$-test, t-test, and ANCOVA with the SPSS program 18.0, were used to analyze the data. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher scores on EBN competency (F=25.80, p<001), information literacy (F=13.75, p=.001), and proactivity in problem solving (F=5.32, p=.026) than the control group. Conclusion: This study provides evidence that an EBN course improves undergraduate nursing students' EBN competencies, information literacy, and proactivity in problem solving. Team learning in EBN education can be an effective teaching strategy.
Recently much research has investigated the role of attention in L2 learning, comparing the effects of explicit learning with those of implicit learning. With this background the research aims at examining the effects explicit focus on form has on L2 learning based on the acquisition of the English article system. The participants were 70 Korean college students who enrolled in English Composition classes. The experimental group received explicit focus on form including grammatical explanation, input enhancement, output practice, and negative evidence (corrective feedback) for two weeks, while the control group was exposed to sufficient input and negative evidence. Completion tasks were administered at the beginning and the end of the semester. In addition, errors in the use of English articles were analysed on their compositions both before and after the different treatments. The analyses of the results show that the explicit focus on form group improved significantly more than the control group, particularly for the definite article 'the', and some changes occurred in the distribution of article errors. These findings suggest that explicit teaching plays a more contributory role than implicit teaching in acquiring L2 knowledge in classroom-based L2 learning.
This review is aimed at the understanding of learning in field-trips relating to education in outdoor activities. The review specifically concerns what studies have been undertaken by seeking evidence from research published between 1950 and 2004. The review indicates three common arguments on learning during field-trips. First, the learning in an informal learning environment based on first-hand experiences is most significant when it has meaning for the learner from field-trips. Second, learning aims and strategies in field-trips have evolved along with world-wide concerns towards the environment. Third, the experiences from field-trips can impact significantly on students' cognitive and affective learning. However, the research of field-trip experiences from outdoor activities has focused on learning outcomes far more than on the learning characteristics which facilitate students' learning. Therefore, further study is required, which can provide clear evidence on how such learning characteristics through field-trips can help studentsto successfully attain educational goals.
