  • Landslides pose significant threats to many countries globally, yet the development and implementation of effective landslide early warning systems (LEWS) remain challenging due to multifaceted complexities spanning scientific, technological, and political domains. Addressing these challenges demands a holistic approach. Technologically, integrating thresholds, such as rainfall thresholds, with real-time data within accessible, open-source software stands as a promising solution for LEWS. This article introduces LandScient_EWS, a PHP-based program tailored to address this need. The software facilitates the comparison of real-time measured data, such as rainfall, with predefined landslide thresholds, enabling precise calculations and graphical representation of real-time landslide advisory levels across diverse spatial scales, including regional, basin, and hillslope levels. To illustrate its efficacy, the program was applied to a case study in Medellin, Colombia, where a rainfall event on August 26, 2008, triggered a shallow landslide. Through pre-defined rainfall intensity and duration thresholds, the software simulated advisory levels during the recorded rainfall event, utilizing data from a rain gauge positioned within a small watershed and a single grid cell (representing a hillslope) within that watershed. By identifying critical conditions that may lead to landslides in real-time scenarios, LandScient_EWS offers a new paradigm for assessing and responding to landslide hazards, thereby improving the efficiency and effectiveness of LEWS. The findings underscore the software's potential to streamline the integration of rainfall thresholds into both existing and future landslide early warning systems.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure both ECG and BCG(Ballistocariograph) signal of a subject on moving or resting wheelchair and detect the heart rate and respiratory rate and transmit an event message to remote server on emergent situation. To acquire ECG and BCG data, amplifier circuits were composed to be suitable for their characteristics. The output signals were converted to digital data and stored in bio-signal archiving media(SD card). CDMA module was used to transmit the event data on ECG electrode detachment and the received data was monitored by the developed C# application program. 5 volunteers participated in the experiment to evaluate the validity of the developed device. When the event occurs in each subject, 48 Kbyte data, stored for 32 seconds from that point, was transmitted to remote server through CDMA cellular phone network correctly. The received data of ECG, BCG, and 3-axial acceleration could be archived in server and the heart rate and respiratory rate could be measured and analyzed. The developed device in this study could acquire the ECG and BCG data of subjects on wheelchair simultaneously and measure their heart rate and respiratory rate. In addition, event data was verified to be transmitted to remote server without any errors.

  • Discrete event simulation environments often need to be modified because additional questions to systems may become apparent while observing the simulation results repeatedly. It leads to increasing development budget and depreciating the effectiveness of the environment. To avoid the modifications and to generate the altered results, this paper applies an Event Control Model (ECM) with control functions that modulate, delete and generate the events at the simulation time. In addition, this paper suggests an easier approach for domain-users, who do not want to program at source code level, by using ECM templates. The simulators with the ECMs can have better extensibility because it becomes more adaptable to possibly unanticipated changes. It prevents increasing development costs due to modifications or development of new models by M&S experts, and it provides a new alternative step to domain users. To support the effectiveness of this approach, this paper describes a relevant example, which is composed of an initial simulation model based on our empirical studies. It will show that there exist the uncountable benefits because the existing simulator is reused by domain users without new projects.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the job engagement mediates relationship between positive psychological capital and turnover intention in the event worker. For it, a questionnaire survey is performed for 394 participants consisted of male and female living in BUSAN. Their age is from 20 to 50. Afterwards, the collected data is analyzed using the regression analysis. Positive psychological capital is significantly positive to the job engagement. Meanwhile, positive psychological capital is significantly negative to the turnover intention. Likewise, job engagement is significantly negative to the level of turnover intention. Also, job engagement partially mediated relationship between positive psychological capital and turnover intention. Therefore, this study suggests that it will be developed the mediation program that improves both work environment and positive psychological capital to increase job engagement as well as reduce turnover intention in the event worker.

  • In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of a portable, extensible, and efficient performance visualization framework for high performance parallel program development. The framework adopts a layered architecture:consists of three independent layers instrumentation layer, trace interface layer and visualization layer. The instrumentation layer was constructed as an ECL which captures generated events, and the EDL/JPAL constitutes the trace interface layer to provide problem-oriented interfaces between visualization layer and instrumentation layer. Finally, the visualization layer was designed as plug-and-play style for easy elimination, addition and composition of various filters, views and view groups, The proposed performance visualization framework is expected to be used as an independent performance debugging and analysis tool and as a core component in an integrated parallel programming environment.

  • This paper is to present the determination of the optimal loss rate parameters and unit hydrographs from the observed single rainfall-runoff event using optimization model. The linear program models has been formulated to derive the optimal unit hydrographs and loss rate parameters for the site of the Su-Jik Bridge in the HwangGuJichen River; one minimizes the summation of the absolute residual between predicted and observed runoff ordinates. In the perturbation stage of parameters the trial and error method has been adopted to determine the loss rate parameters for Kostiakov's, Philip's, Horton's, and Green-Ampt's equation. The unique unit hydrograph ordinates for a given rainfall-runoff event is exclusively obtained with ${\Phi}$ index, but unit hydrograph ordinates depend upon the parameters for each loss rate equations. In this paper the single rainfall-runoff event observed from the sample watershed is considered to test the proposed method. The optimal unit hydrograph obtained by the optimization model has smaller deviations than the ones by the conventional method.

  • The Doam Lake Watershed is one of Gangwon-do's non-point source management areas. This area has a lot of snowfall in winter, and it is expected that there will be a lot of soil erosion in early spring due to snow melting. In this study, snow melting was monitored in the Doam Lake watershed from February to 3, 2020. It was conducted to analyze the water quality changes by calculating the concentration of non-point source pollution caused by snowmelt, and to compare the concentration of water quality during snowmelt event with rainfall and non-rainfall event. As a result of water quality analysis, Event Mean Concentration (EMC) at the first monitoring was SS 33.9 mg/L, TP 0.13 mg/L, TN 4.33 mg/L, BOD 1.35 mg/L, TOC 1.84 mg/L. At the second monitoring, EMC were SS 81.3 mg/L, TP 0.15 mg/L, TN 3.12 mg/L, BOD 1.32 mg/L, TOC 3.46 mg/L. In parameter except SS, it showed good water quality. It is necessary to establish management measures through continuous monitoring.

  • Using long-term panel data of OKCashbag, this study analyzes whether learning effect influencing in effectiveness of coalition loyalty program exists. We found that there is learning effect in the behavior of loyalty program customers, and discovered that learning effect appears more greatly in using (redeeming) behavior than accumulating behavior. The authors also found a long-lasting structural changes in the pattern of point redemption after a major marketing activities associated with the act of using points. The results of this research can contribute to suggest direction to the future researches to examine differences of learning effect according to demographic (gender, age, region, ect.) and transactional (frequency or scale in point accumulation and redemption etc.) characteristics.

  • We present long-term optical to NIR data of the tidal disruption object, Swift J1644+57. The data were obtained with CQUEAN, UKIRT WFCAM observations. We analyze the morphology of the host galaxy of this object and decompose the bulge component using high resolution HST WFC3 images. We conclude that the host galaxy is bulge dominant. We also estimate the multi-band fluxes of the host galaxy through the light curves based on the long-term observational data. We fit the SED models to the multi-band fluxes of the host galaxy and determine its stellar mass. Finally, we estimate the mass of the central super massive black hole which is responsible for the tidal disruption event. The estimated stellar mass and black hole mass are ${\sim}10^{9.1}M_{\odot}$, ${\sim}10^{6.8}M_{\odot}$, respectively. We compare our results to other previous estimates.
