  • The evaporative cooling technology used in Wind generator stator has unique advantages. Combined with the structure of motor stator and operating conditions, this report based on the research project for the evaporative cooling sleeve of the 3.6MW wind generator, introduces the material requirements and structural characteristics of the sleeve, simulates on the stress, displacement and stability by finite analysis method, and tests the products experimentally. The research results show that the epoxy resin-glass materials have a higher strength and better insulation properties, but the evaporative cooling of the wind generator stator sleeve, because of its thin-walled, and the external pressure, so it's the less rigid. Should make full use of the motor stator core structure, increase its stiffness and improve the stability of the epoxy resin-glass sleeve, which for thin-walled the epoxy resinglass sleeve on the successful application of wind turbines has played an important role.

  • This paper describes conceptual development and idea-verification of a sub-miniature portable cooler which dose not necessitate any pre-cooling nor any external energy supply. The basic principle of the cooling mechanism is the vaporization of water and sub-sequent cooling due to the evaporative latent heat loss. In this work, the vaporization of the water is stimulated by desiccant material to improve the cooling effect. The evaporative cooling caused by the desiccant is modeled and analyzed considering the sorption characteristics of the desiccant. In addition, the portable cooler is fabricated in the shape of a thin pad, and its cooling characteristics are tested and compared with the analytic results.

  • This study was carried out to develope dehumidifier using underground water for controling moisture in greenhouse. The dehumidifier was designed as horizontal shell type condenser, and experiment was carried out with evaporative cooling system. In shading condition, evaporative cooling with the dehumidifier makes decrease of relative humidity and temperature in the down place of greenhouse than without dehumidifier, so it is expect that the dehumidifier is useful for effective evaporative cooling.

  • In advanced nuclear reactors, the passive containment cooling has been suggested to enhance the safety. The passive cooling has two mechanisms, air natural convection and oater cooling with evaporation. To confirm the coolability of PCCS, many works have been performed experimentally and numerically. In this study, the water cooling test was performed to obtain the evaporative heat transfer coefficients in a scaled don segment type PCCS facility which have same configuration with AP600 prototype containment. Air-steam mixture temperature and velocity, relative humidity and well heat flux are measured. The local steam mass flow rates through the vertical plate part of the facility are calculated from the measured data to obtain evaporative heat transfer coefficients. The measured evaporative heat transfer coefficients are compared with an analytical model which use a mass transfer coefficients. From the comparison, the predicted coefficients show good agreement with experimental data however, some discrepancies exist when the effect of wave motion is not considered. Finally, a new correlation on evaporative heat transfer coefficients are developed using the experimental values.

  • This study was to develop the most effective cooling system which is needed to cool greenhouse during summer night to get early blooming of strawberries. Various cooling systems were designed and constructed to utilize the cool air and water from tan abandoned coal mine. Cooling systems built for this study were an evaporative cooling system with pad, cooling system using a small or large radiator , and duct cooling system using cool are drawn from coal mine. These systems were individual tested to investigate their effects on cooling greenhouse during summer night. Also, a combined cooling system was tested with operating an evaporative cooling system, small radiator, and duct cooling system simultaneously. The results in this study showed that individual cooling systems such as evaporative cooling system, small radiator, and cooling duct had about the same effect on cooling greenhouse. The combined system had little better cooling effect than that of individual cooling syst m except the large radiator . The most effective system for cooling of greenhouse was obtained with using a large a large radiator as the heat exchanger. With operating a large radiator, temperature inside the greenhouse was dropped to about 15-16$^{\circ}C$ while outside temperature was 23-24$^{\circ}C$ during summer night.

  • In dehumidification evaporation cooling system. the regeneratie evaporative cooler(REC) makes an important role to reduce the sensible cooling load in the system through evaporative cooling, By this reason, many studies about increasing the cooling capacity of the REC were undertook. In this paper, we analyzed the cooling characteristics of the REC due to the structures of the REC and determined the best structure for the REC's effectiveness and cooling capacity. From the study. we could obtain some important results: at first. corrugated type has the benefit to expand the channel width of the REC, But because the type has some weak points about the size and weight. there is almost no benefit to improve the performance of the REC. Through these reasons. we decided that finned type is the best structure to improve the performance of the REC.

  • The regenerative evaporative cooler(REC) is to cool a stream of air using evaporative cooling effect without an increase in the humidity ratio. In the regenerative evaporative cooler, the air can be cooled down to a temperature lower than its inlet wet-bulb temperature. Besides the cooling performance, for practical application of the regenerative evaporative cooler, the compactness of the system is also a very important factor to be considered. In this respect, three different configurations, i.e., the flat plate type, the corrugated plate type, and the finned channel type are investigated and compared for the most compact configuration. The optimal structure of each configuration is obtained individually to minimize the volume for a given effectiveness within a limit of the pressure drop. Comparing the three optimal structures, the finned channel type is found to give the most compact structure among the considered configurations. The volume of the regenerative cooler can be reduced to 1/8 by adopting the finned channel type as compared to that of the flat plate type.

  • A sorption cool pad brings cooling effect without any pre-cooling, nor any external energy supply. It uses evaporative cooling effect stimulated by the desiccative sorption. In this paper, heat and mass transfer in the sorption cool pad are investigated theoretically. The evaporative cooling process caused by the desiccant is modeled and analyzed considering the sorption characteristics of the desiccant. Two nondimensional parameters are found to dominate the cooling process: one is related to the psychrometric characteristics and the other is to the sorption capacity of the desiccant. The former decides the time to reach the lowest temperature and the later controls the time duration of the cooling effect being sustained.

  • Ren et al. analyzed the performance of the indirect evaporative cooler according to the direction of the flow considering evaporation water flow and wetness. However the effect of NTU of each channel on the performance of the indirect evaporative cooler according to the direction of the flow was not analyzed exactly. In this study the effect of the direction of the flow on the Indirect evaporative cooling performance changing NTU of each channel are investigated theoretically. The cooling process of the indirect evaporative cooler by flow direction is modeled into a set of linear differential equations and solved to obtain the exact solutions to the temperatures of the hot fluid, the moist air, and evaporation water. Based on the exact solution in the case of different NTU of each channel, we study the change of the distribution of the temperature according to each flow direction and at the same time analyze the effect of the flow direction on the cooling performance.
